Sirius XM Radio's 1st Wave channel will be airing a four-day celebration of the band The Cure, starting on Friday, May 22nd through Monday, May 25th.
The special, entitled "4 for The Cure Memorial Weekend" will feature a rare interview with frontman, Robert Smith, a previously unreleased concert recording and music spanning the band's three-decade career.
During his interview, Robert Smith will talk about his very private personal life and discuss his band's music, songwriting, recording, and performing live. The Robert Smith interview with 1st Wave channel host Richard Blade will air for one-time only - so set your Stiletto 2 or XMP3 - on Sunday, May 24th at 11am ET.
You'll also hear a previously unreleased concert performance from The Cure's 2008 appearance at Los Angeles's Hollywood Bowl. The 3-hour broadcast will air on Friday, May 22nd at 6pm and encore broadcasts will air on Saturday, May 23rd at 12pm ET; Sunday, May 24th at 10pm ET and Monday, May 25th at 4pm ET.
And for icing on the cake for The Cure fans - Robert Smith will guest deejay Sirius XM 1st Wave (Sirius channel 22 and XM channel 44) throughout Memorial Day weekend, introducing Cure songs and offering his insights into the band's music.

not quite the 2044 song countdown Fred use to have. First Wave only plays 204 songs.
how many versions of the same 10 Cure songs will be played?
glad to see variety, but the Cure was on tour last year.
That's awesome.
This is one of the channels that got obliterated by Sirius, Fred was soooo much better than this 1st wave crap. Talk about repetition.
Let's blame it on Howard, lol
I agree. That is pretty cool.
I will be on a recording frenzy!
Like this station needs to play more Cure. My friend who is into 80's alternative and originally had XM, is sick of the repetitive nature of this station. Not truely an Alternative station.
Heh... the Google Ad being fed to this page is for a Morrissey download... :)
