Xact ReGo XTR5 Technical Information (and Release Date)

I've been getting bombarded with emails about the new ReGo, so rather than typing my little fingers off, we're going to have a little Q&A session. Hopefully this will answer all the questions about the upcoming Xact ReGo (Record-and-Go) device you've been losing sleep over.
Q: What kind of features will the new ReGo unit have?
A: For those who didn't see them at CES, here's the Xact ReGo XTR5 Plug & Play Features:
* 6-line screen display
* MP3 & Sirius Playback
* Trans Flash Card Slot - capacities that range from 64MB to 1GB (not included)
* 4 Hour Recording Built-in Flash for Sirius Download
* Illuminated Keypad and Control Buttons
* Backlit Display
* S-Seek
* Program Alert
* Parental Control
* Satellite Updated Real-Time Clock Stereo, Line Level Audio Outputs
* 3.5 mm Stereo Headphone Jack with Volume Control
* Wireless remote control
* Built-in wireless FM modulator with variable frequency settings
* 18 presets
* Integrated headphone output and volume controls
* Wearable, Car, home and universal docking kits available
* 2 Boom box options (1 model with MP3 CD¹s/CDRW and a digital AM/FM radio tuner with 10 presets)
Q: Is it 'wearable' or not? I keep hearing conflicting information on this.
A: Note that in the feature list it mentions that a wearable docking kit will be available. This explains the confusing language we've been hearing between whether it's a plug-and-play unit, or a wearable unit (like the XM2go devices). The battery-pack that will fit to the XTR5 ReGo will be much smaller than the XTR1's 'power pod' and the antenna is incorporated into the top of the headphones - therefore giving it 'wearable' attributes (but out of the box, as we understand it, it's not a 'wearable' device).
Q: How much is it going to cost?
A: From the information we've gathered, the ReGo will be priced around $300. For a device with this many features, can't say that's unreasonable.
...and the most asked question (c'mon, gimme a drumroll):
Q: When's the ReGo coming out???
A: The ReGo will be released in Spring 2005 (late April, beginning of May). Start saving your lunch money kids!

Thanks for the ReGo info man. Great site you've got here.
Hopefully the 'wearable' add-on wont push it too far past the $300 price mark.

Does anyone else find it odd that Xact's web page has absolutely no information on the ReGo?

As I understand it, right now there's no actual working devices released anywhere. The units at CES were display models. This also explains why most of the images I've been given are 3D renders.
Jeremy from SiriusBackstage.com has some great photos from CES here:

I HAVE A MYFI AND I WANTED A XTR5 THIS WAY I CAN HAVE BOTH WORLDS RATHER THAN TWO XM RADIOS. I AM DISAPPOINTED THOUGH THAT XACT DID NO LEARN FROM THEIR LAST UNIT AND MAKE THE XTR5 A ONE PIECE UNIT LIKE THE MYFI, COMPLETELY SELF CONTAINED WITH BATTERY. CARRYING THE PODS IS A PAIN. ALSO THE POD DID NOT HAVE THE BATTERY POWER OF THE MYFI. YOU WOULD THINK THAT THEY HAD SOMETHING TO COPY FROM DELPHI. I GUESS NOT. DELPHI ALSO INCLUDED EVERYTHING YOU NEED, HOME,CAR, PORTABLE IN ONE 349 PACKAGE THAT YOU CAN GET ON EBAY FOR 230.00. THAT IS WHAT XACT SHOULD DO PACKAGE THE POD AND ALL ACCESSORIES WITH IT OR IT WILL HAVE PROBLEMS SELLING. IN TODAYS WORLD YOU HAVE TO BE COMPETITIVE. I AM A TECH WITH MCI AND BELIVE ME I KNOW.

Does anyone know if you can purchase this unit yet? Also if it is not wearable out of the box what are the advantes of this unit over a plug and play everywhere unit besides power supply?
Thanks in advance,

Should be available in stores for Father's Day. We'll see what the 'wearable' extras will cost, but the ability to save music to the ReGo, as well as the Flash Card that lets you play your own MP3s, is enough of an advantage against other plug-and-play satellite radio units IMHO.
I'm trying my best to get a review copy of the ReGo from Xact - so stay tuned!!!

Xact's website posted pictures of the wearable outdoor kit. Still an attachable battery and big, bulky headphones. With the success of the MyFi, it is surprising they can't get the hint of what people want. I want to get Sirius, but I won't do it until the wearable options are as good or better than the MyFi stuff.
