InFusion Internet Radio
Has anyone seen this thing? It’s called the Infusion developed by a bunch of Aussies at Torian (awful website, neat product). I just had a chance to look into it after first spotting it on Slashdot. Some are speculating it might be the Satellite killer - but I’m not so sure. Reception is key, and blanketing the US with Wifi just doesn’t seem possible.
Whatever, it’s still pretty neat.

Why would it be a satellite killer? Is this radio thing gonna be based in Australia? And I don't know about the Infusion thing, it looks really ugly, something like what Sirius would sell.

It's a satellite killer because if all good radio stations stream online. There is no need to pay for satellite radio when you can listen through this unit. Internet is worldwide and this thing will be as well.

WiFi/WiMax does not reach every nook and cranny of the country that satellite does. WiFi/WiMax also has the problem of not having a nationwide provider so that even if every area is covered, you'd have to deal with roaming/authentication for each zone you pass through. WiFi/WiMax mobile internet radio is a loser, period. One step above cell phone streaming doesn't make it a satellite killer!

I will admit this thing is pretty cool, but no satellite radio killer. There isn't enough Wifi hotspots, I think this is before its time. That's not to say I wouldn't buy one.
Again these XM people bashing Sirius, jeez, some people think Sirius' products are ugly and some think XM's products are ugly. That's why there are 2 services. Get a grip on life.

Looks pretty cool... might be a bit ahead of its time but I reckon it will be interesting to see how well it works... PS. I dont get it, whats so awful with the website? Anybody know wherebouts they're going to ship too? ie, if theyre shipping to European countries?
