Sirius Rumor: ABC Radio?

Inside Radio is buzzing about a possible deal between Sirius Satellite Radio and ABC Radio. Two scenarios are being hinted at:

  1. Sirius possibly acquiring terrestrial ABC Radio. (No FCC regulations prohibiting this)

  2. Sirius acquiring an over-the-air network/syndication operation providing Sirius with a rich new source of content.

Very very interesting. All just speculation right now, but I wonder where this rumor came from?

This is total BS. ABC would cost about 2 billion. If Sirius were to buy ABC they would be certifiable crazy. They would have to sell over 333 million shares to do the deal. This would dilute current shareholder value by almost 40%.

Where did the rumor come from? An idiot, which could be Karmazin.

The article is NOT talking about SIRIUS taking over the whole network of ABC, but just the terrestrial radio portion (i.e. NO TV, ETC). This deal would be great and could give SIRIUS exclusive rights to Sean Hannity who seems to be a very popular radio host.

In the spirit of Satellite Radio, I will not edit or remove any comments unless they are purely promotional. The seven forbidden words are completely acceptable, so go nuts. HTML tags can't be used, but you can simply type an URL (include the http://) to create a live link.
