XM Satellite Radio and ABC are teaming up to air a regular music segment highlighting XM’s "Artist Confidential" series on the weekend edition of ABC's “Good Morning America.”
The monthly segment, called the “XM Artist Confidential® Series,” features video highlights from XM’s original performance/interview show “Artist Confidential.” The GMA Weekend broadcasts mark the first time music fans are able to see as well as listen to their favorite artists from the popular XM series.
Apparently this is following the success of October’s GMA Weekend broadcast from the “Artist Confidential with Faith Hill” episode. I never actually realized that ABC aired the Faith Hill episode - though there was a web version made available for free. Looks like that was a test run of sorts, because now it's become a regular segment.
The weekend morning news broadcast will begin airing “XM Artist Confidential® Series” as a regular monthly feature starting this Sunday, November 18th with the Mandy Moore episode (pictured above).
More artists will be announced soon, and video from XM's original series will also be available for all to watch on ABC's website.

Strange , since XM dumped ABC Radio a while back .
i think that this is a good step towards mainstreaming XM's strong content into the eyes and ears of the listener. i had a chance to see the Pumpkins @ XM for their artist confidential, and it was just great...i never was a huge Pumpkins fan, but i gained a great appreciation not only for the group and its music, but for XM premise and purpose in creating the series. on my way out, i was thinking "man...thats some great potential content i just heard."
hopefully, this will be a sign of things to come after the merger; i would really enjoy seeing XM branded as satrad's home for original and exclusive programming...perhaps being the "skunk works" of the company where producers and program directors enjoy near 100% creative freedom.
From what I remember reading, it was ABC/Citadel who dumped the ABC News/Talk channel, not XM who made the decision to quit offering it...Thus, why some of the ABC News/Talk programming ended up on America Right.
And don't forget, XM also has the radio version of GMA on Take 5, so they still have a pretty strong tie to ABC (at least the TV side).
There's also basically no connection now (at least at an executive level) between ABC Radio and ABC TV...
It is an excellent promotional tool. A rare good marketing idea from XM.
That's great and everything... but I STILL want ENTIRE performance/interview sessions... even if they're edited down to an hour each like the audio-only versions... I WANT IT ALL!
On DVD (or HD-DVD would be even better)... on some cable or TV network... SOMEWHERE! There's over one full season of Artist Confidential shows done already... where's all the great video from these events going?!
Well, I caught it yesterday on TV... right at the very end, of course... Nice way they presented it... a rotating GMA/XM logo in the lower left corner... It's unfortunate that it's not in HD... watching it on an HDTV had the usual standard definition bars on the side.
Still wanting entire shows though, not just clips...
