Walt Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal and David Pogue of the New York Times have both weighed in on the upcoming iPhone.
Mossberg's verdict:
"...despite some flaws and feature omissions, the iPhone is, on balance, a beautiful and breakthrough handheld computer."
Pogue's verdict:
"As it turns out, much of the hype and some of the criticisms are justified. The iPhone is revolutionary; it’s flawed. It’s substance; it’s style. It does things no phone has ever done before; it lacks features found even on the most basic phones."

What does this have to do with satellite radio? Everything.

As everyone who posts here that has a cell phone can attest - HAVING A NON USER-REMOVABLE BATTERY is just plain retarded.
Way to go Apple, I spend hundreds of dollars for it and have to throw it away when the battery dies?
Yeah. That reallly held back the iPod....
A: ipods aren't all $500-$600
B: EVERY other phone, since the dawn of fucking cell phones, has a removable battery. It's an obvious step backwards.
You say it has everything to do with satellite radio. Can you please explain what everything is???
C: I would not bet against this being a major seller.
1. a. All things or all of a group of things.
b. All relevant matters: told each other everything.
2. The most important fact or consideration: In business, timing is everything.
I wonder how much input AT&T had with the development of the Iphone... as great as most Apple products are they've never ventured into the cell phone market which worries me that the first few generations of Iphones may have major issues. For example the battery is a major issue, if it is designed like the Ipod it will be a problem after a few years. You can squeeze a few years out of an Ipod battery but it may be totally different story with the Iphone which is intended to be used constantly and in some cases 24/7. Unless Apple has found a major breakthrough in the battery world this first rev will have major problems after 2 years of usage.
"HAVING A NON USER-REMOVABLE BATTERY is just plain retarded."
I've never needed a secondary battery, nor had a battery die, or any of my 6+ Nokias.
Jeff
I couldn't agree more with the battery comments. They do this so they can get $100 from users down the road when you want to get it replaced..$30 - battery $50 - service charge $20 - shipping.
And for TulaneJeff - when was the last time you played music, watched videos, played games, updated your calendar for 4 hours on an airplane with one of your 6+ Nokias and had battery left to check your voicemails and make a few calls as soon as you stepped off the plane? Think about it....

I've never been hit by a car. That doesn't mean other people don't get hit by cars.
Hey, if you wanna back every thing Apple does (however idiotic and anti-consumer) because of Apple fanboyism more power to you. I'd like to add, the iPod may be by far the market leader, but that doen't mean that far superior products don't exist. Alot of times things that are most popular are also the most DRM-riddled and ultimately have less options than other devices. Best selling isn't always "best".
peterman25,
You hit the nail on the head. The IPhone is an equivalent of a Laptop and a cellphone combined. How long do laptop batteries last for even the greatest batteries/units. If people intend to keep their IPhones on and use even 3/4 of the functions the need to constantly charge the unit will be very high.. which drains the life of the battery. I'm sure by the 3rd or 4th rev of the phone Apple will have the kinks worked out..but to lay out $2,000 over the course of 2 years for a fancy cellphone it simply isn't worth it yet.
