Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Eric Byrnes will host his own weekly, three-hour show on XM Satellite Radio during the baseball off-season.
The "Eric Byrnes Show" debuts this Saturday, November 17th, at 12-noon ET on XM's MLB Home Plate (ch 175) and will air on Saturdays all the way until spring training.
Not only is Byrnes devling deep into the world of satellite radio (a weekly 3-hour show is better than most), but he's the first active MLB player to host his own satellite radio show. He's no amateur though, having had been an in-demand sports analyst for FOX Sports and ESPN, as well as having hosted an off-season radio show at KNBR-AM in San Francisco last year.
Byrnes signed a three-year contract extension with the Diamondbacks in August 2007. He made his major league debut with the Oakland A's in 2000. After stints in Colorado and Baltimore, Byrnes joined Arizona in 2006.

This will be great, I love watching his show on FSN here in Arizona, also titled the Eric Byrnes show. I'm sure he will have Chad Tracy and others come on the show fairly regularly. Should be something fun for you XM owners to listen to. I don't have XM. :P
I don't follow baseball at all so I don't know who this guy is, but is that really his picture? This guy look really old.... damn, my grandfather looks better than him.
Yeah, that's a goofy ass pic. He usually looks more normal, but he's got weird hair.
this guy was hilarious at the home run derby. Remember him trying to get his bull dog to jump into water and then kayakers trying to save the dog? that was great!
He's a funny guy and I look forward to hearing his show....
I think he's 31.
Byrnesy is great on air. I loved listening to him on KNBR when he was in the bay area. It will be good to hear him getting even more exposure. He has a career in broadcasting after baseball, no doubt.
I expect the show to be classy. Eric Burns is.
I guess I'll be the only one to dissent and say that Byrnes is a douche. Of course, this is coming from me, a Baltimore fan - Byrnes played here in '05 and stunk it up bigtime.
Also, gotta love Byrnes' comments during the NLCS this year. I'll paraphrase: "We [Arizona] have outplayed the Rockies so far. They've just been getting lucky." Whoops, you got your asses swept by the Rockies, Eric. Not only that, but you only had three hits, were extremely close to hitting into a triple play, and also made the last out of the series.
A bill such as the one proposed in Connecticut "allows you to control the people who are willing to be controlled" but is unlikely to make much of a difference otherwise, Pete Lindstrom, an analyst at Midvale, Utah- based Burton Group, told Vijayan." The notion of the predator is getting lost here. Are we trying to validate the kids who are underage trying to act overage, or the overage adults trying to act like they are underage?"
