Artie Lange, longtime sidekick on The Howard Stern Show, has checked himself into an intensive outpatient rehabilitation facility.E! News confirmed the news with Lange's publicist, but there is no additional information on where Artie is being treated, or what exactly he's being treated for.
News of Lange's in-treatment status comes after he canceled a string of stand-up dates, as well as a planned appearance in Los Angeles on the Comedy Central roast of Bob Saget, which was taped Sunday night.
Artie is reportedly still expected to return to the Stern show when it comes back from hiatus later this month.

According to his publicist it was for Alcohol and Drug abuse (who would have thought that).
Supposedly he will be back this Monday, if he is I'm sure he will be back into Rehab again a week later.

Ain't no such thing as "an intensive outpatient rehabilitation facility". You can do "intensive" or you can do "outpatient". But there's no way Lange makes the major life changes he's gotta make (the changes that everyone in his life has been telling him he's needed to make for, what, a decade now?) if he's going home to the same enabling environment every night.
less than a week of rehab is only a resting up to do more drugs!

First of all, I do hope that Artie realizes he has a problem, and gets the help he needs.
Unfortunately, I don't find him to be funny, nor an asset to Stern's show. He is just one of the carnival sideshow of freaks, who allows himself to be used like the freak he is.
Apparently, playing a part has now become reality...very sad.
I'm glad that Little Jimmy is a strong healthy boy, who would never drink or over eat. His head is always in a very good place. His passions include light bulbs, and wizardry

I am guessing that the only reason Artie agreed to go in is because the publisher of his book told Artie to "punch up" the ending.
