Bruce Morrow, aka "Cousin Brucie" - who joined Sirius Satellite Radio back in 2005 - will be making his debut on XM, according to on-air audio.
The Cuz made the announcement on the air after explaining to a listener that he will also be "moving next door" to Sirius 5.
"And we're also going to be on XM," said Morrow.

Thanks Nathan!

We love the Cuz! :)
Thanks for putting that up so quickly, Ryan!
BTW, the part I missed (before hitting "record"...I was streaming on my laptop) was where he mentioned the date: Nov. 12th (since his show is each Wednesday & Saturday night).
Sirius 5?
Thanks for posting mp3s to the audio Ryan! This works a lot better! So it looks like Brucie will be on both XM and Sirius in a week. Weird times ahead people.
Is it just me , or does Cousin Brucie look like that guy that hosts America's Funniest Videos ?
@Alex: Most likely The Cuz is just used to saying "SIRIUS 5"...the channel is rumored to be named after the XM decades channel, "50's on 5".
This guy has a huge following. It'll be great for SatRad if they only TELL people he's on. One of the great radio legends.
At last! Some good news!
Like the song says....'oh how happy you have made me.'
Yes, Cousin Brucie does share an uncanny resemblence to Tom Bergeron.
This is not good news, and another example that Mel Karmazin just doesn't get it.
Cousin Brucie is a New York anomaly, and I'm not sure he plays well in Peoria or Portland.
I specifically made the decision to buy XM because they were offering better programming overall.
I don't think XM would have paid Mad Dog millions to bring his NYC brand of sports radio to the nation, for example. He's very New York, as is Cousin Brucie.
XM listeners lose the in-depth knowledge of Matt the Cat and we get Cousin Brucie?
Egad! Many people say, "let the marketplace decide." But these days customers and the FCC get lied to in order to make a merger happen, and then the better-programmed service gets canibalized.
I knew this is how it would come down if the merger was aproved, but I still hate to see it.
In short, if I'd have wanted Sirius, I'd have subscribed to it. But I'll get it anyway. The customer doesn't matter.
Most likely the XM 50's channel will be nuked and replaced with the Sirius Channel 5, which will be duplicated across both the XM and Sirius channels.
LOTS more duplications of channels coming soon. Might be time to consider canceling one of my dual subs.
@ curmudgeon:
I don't think Brucie is strictly a "New York phenomenon." Besides, Wolfman Jack wasn't nationally known and XM's Sixties on 6 plays his old stuff. Bruce has been there from the beginning and seen it all- I mean even back from Alan Freed' s time. He is a great radio legend and there are not too many like him around, anywhere.
The guy is over 70 and still can do it. Hooray for Cousin Brucie. I think he does the oldies station fantastically. I love having DJ's on my oldies stations. When I listen to chill or techno, however, I do not like any interruptions. I think XM gets it right, recreating the experience of AM oldies raido for us old timers.
Am I the only one who is starting to think that the "interoperable" radio promise was a joke? If the station line up is essentially the same on both services (with Stern and Stewart being "premium - pay extra" channels), why bother with an interoperable radio?
nope, the tactic was simple. Say what the FCC and the consumer wants to hear. Then, when the merger's approved, what you say doesn't matter because it's a done deal.
Not long after the merger's approval, what did Mel say? 15 years before interoperable radios get into cars?
He knew darn well that he was going to create an environment where interoperable radios wouldn't matter.
In reality, most mergers are takeovers. Many people had to be brought on board, (or shoved overboard), to make this one happen.
There's no question that some duplication would have to be eliminated to form a merged service.
But the smart thing would have been to take the time to figure out what offerings engender customer loyalty and improve both services that way.
Sirius's channel based on Little Steven's Underground Garage is an example of a channel XM subscribers would welcome.
CBC-1 on Sirius is a better offering than string-and-tin-can-fidelity Canadian headlines on XM.
I'm not sure there's anything like XM Cafe on Sirius, although I don't know how much listener response it gets.
Focus should be on the programming that's so unique that customers will want to pay for it. If it's not unique, there's no reason to pay.
I know execs are jazzed about marketing synergies and all of that hocus-pocus, but for the millions spent on Oprah, or Martha Stewart's programming, you can pay many talented people to do wondrous, innovative programming. Or to keep what's already there.
Kinda like an older, British Tom Bergeron.
Another channel update :
Rick Stacy (XM's 80's channel ) said he is staying on , and will join the MTV vj's starting next Wednesday , November 12th .
USA Today has an advertisement listing some of the channels the combined service will have.
I don't have the ad but here's somebody else's compiled list
http://www.xmfan.com/viewtopic.php?t=96597
I think what we're missing here is that ALL the channels will ultimately be duplicated on both platforms to save costs (except for the "best of" channels). No variety and no choice...that's Mel Karmizan's way.
lol when are we going to find out more about the channels merging, this has been the headline for almost 3 days now>...
this sucks.waste of money
Good to see that Sirius-XM is really hitting that young demographic.
Tom Bergeron has made a career perfecting the folksy, amiable suck up who is so completely non threatening that it makes you want to puke. The almost unwatchable piece of crap show that he hosts, "Dancing with the Stars", is the perfect setting for him to display his fake geniality. Any comparison to Cousin Brucie is an insult to "The Cus." It is shows like this ( almost naked, washed up has beens dancing with almost completely naked real "dancers", while the camera lingers on buttocks and crothes) that makes me appreciate listening to the radio. Everything on that show is contrived and scripted. The bottom line: Cousin Brucie is a lot more sincere than that phony Tom Bergeron, and people should turn off the second worst invention ever created - the first and worst being the cell phone - and subscribe to Sirius/Xm. News, talk, music, comedy, and sports for 43 cents a day. Anybody who says that they can't afford it is a moron! PS - Dancing with the Stars sucks
maybe the good news here is that XM 60s on 6 will remain as it is ... no room for Brucie ... I can only hope
Where oh where has our Ryan gone ? No stories for four days now. Other sites are buzzing with the channel changes .
Ya, I've been wondering the same thing. Pretty weird.
he is away with his family. Be home teusday

I agree that in depth knowledge will be lost but Cousin Brucie does an awesome job. I never heard of the guy til I went satellite and enjoy his show. Plus I'm going to assume that xm will also get Norm M. Nite and Larry Morrow from the rock hall of fame. If this is the case I'm sure the xm nation will enjoy the channel. Anyone know if Coast to Coast Am is now going to be hear on Sirius
