Great spot!

And he's right, the show has never been better. I've been listening since the NBC days and I must say, I've enjoyed the Sirius era far more than any other.

They didn't say 35 million subscribers. I forget the number, but I think they estimate that almost 2 people listen to each radio.

uh boo!! Arties Funny, Hoo Hoo, not so much.

People listen to commercials on regular radio? People listen to regular radio? Too little too late from the marketing team at SiriusXM.

SatRadMadMan, you continue to prove what a dumb, uninformed hayseed you are.

The Stern show has been awful since he moved to SIRI. Even the most diehard fans would admit it. Why do you think they go crazy for the retrospective that is playing now? Because the new stuff is terrible.

Give it up fanboy, he's a washed up hack and anyone looking for the "glory years" will be horribly disappointed. The truth hurts, doesn't it son?

Ron & Fez, Noon to 3.

"Even the most diehard fans would admit it" Im a diehard and i love the show and most fans want a live show to the shit thats on now

Tsk tsk. "Leader of the Pests" says it all. I actually pity you.

As a bitter hanger-on to Opie & Hairplugs, you find yourself engaged in a one-sided radio war. "One-sided" because Stern and his fans don't really give half a thought to O&H. They are just two in a sea of D-list radio hacks who will never approach the pantheon of legend in which Stern resides. Oh my, how frustrating that must be.

For YEARS, Opie & Plugs have told you about how THEY were going to "win in the end", how Stern was going to "fade into obscurity". But what exactly happened, fanboy? Even with his lowered profile on satellite, Stern easily dominates the platform while your middle-aged b-b-boys have failed to reach the sat-rad superstardom they assured you they were on the cusp of. They've even had to run back to terrestrial with their tails between their legs, where they are now being dropped by market after market.

Yes, I am a "die-hard" Stern fan, and am enjoying his Sirius shows more than any others in his amazing career. I know, it must be hard to believe for such an angry little "pest" who has been let down time and again by the promises of his heroes.

does the 35 million include Canada? just curious...

This is a last ditch effort by siriusxm for fooling newbs and suckers into paying for radio, which will fail. Even IF newbs and suckers are stupid enough to be fooled into trying Siriusxm they will learn like the rest of us already know not only does paying for radio make one a sucker, but also that the Howard Stern show is crap and has been crap ever since he left K-ROCK. The only thing good about the HS commercial for siriusxm is the amount of money siriusxm is paying terrestrial radio and the complete lack of return this desperation move will bring to siriusxm. Face facts siriusxm is done some time in 2009.

I don't care to listen to anything that schlub(or O&A or "Bubba The Love Sponge" for that matter) has to say.

As A SiriusXM stockholder and SatRad subscriber since 2002 I think having these cretins on the payroll is one of the reasons SiriusXM is in the shape its in.

That's my 2 cents worth. Which by the way is more than SiriusXM's stock will unfortunately be worth in the near future.

SatRadMadMan,

I agree with you - the show is as entertaining and laugh till you puke funny than ever! I have been listening for almost 20 years, and I am not some delusional slob given to exageration. If the show sucked, I would say so. Television is not funny, nor is it entertaining - so satellite radio is my main source for entertainment. This "leader of the pests" character sounds like he has some kind of agenda to bash Stern, when all he has to do is not listen to it. There are so many people on this site who love to bash, and to them I say "dont buy the radio, don't subscribe, and don't listen. That way you won't have to waste everybodies time with your insufferable whining and your totally biased opinions.

The Howard Stern show STILL makes me laugh more than ANYTHING else out there, and that is invaluable in terms of coping with this miserable and depressing world we live in today. Anybody who disagrees is propably stupid or kind of dopey.

I wish Sirius XM was as good as the commercial makes is sound. Since the merger I find myself hitting channel up and channel down never find music I like. Shame that Pandora and Last. FM blows Sirius away. When Stern goes, this fanboy goes. At least we're past the times of "I can't wait to get out of here!" to the "Isn't it great here?". That was killing me.

It's the least Howard could do, considering his huge salary that's helping to bring them to the brink of bankruptcy.

This is pretty much the same commercial they have been running for years. Where the fuck have you people been. Do you think mel has burned all his bridges or do you think, just maybe, these guys have ties with other broadcasting companies? Did you forget that clear channel advertises on sirius xm? Why wouldnt they advertise with howard, he's part of the remaining 4-6 uncensored channels on sirius xm. They still want to pretend this is an uncensored service. I have had many people tell me I'm wrong about the censorship, they all say "I've heard uncensored music" that will be coming to an end. Heres your prove in writing. I wouldnt want any confusion, seeing how stupid the subscribers to this service are. Keep paying for fm radio!! MORONS!

SatRadMadMan, if you're going to claim that Stern fans do not care about O & A, you might not want to go into a diatribe about how they lie to their fans and how "hacky" they are. If you truly don't care, then don't talk about them and worship your hero.

yes robin, i invented the double cheeseburger
no artie, you cant have any more dope
yes gary, if it wasnt for me bababooey would mean nothing!
yes fred, you can rub my balls while i do the daily american idol report

here more awful radio on
hoo-hoo 100-101 (all hoo hoo all the time)

Apparently anyone who doesn't agree with "Leader of the Pests" is an uninformed hayseed.

Well, see, if I even thought for a second that "Leader" was an informed, unbiased person, I'd probably listen to him.

But the fact remains that nearly EVERY post on Orbitcast by this guy has been Howard negative. Nearly every one.

Why don't you go push your agenda somewhere else, "Leader"? And before you mark me as such, I'm not a Howard fanboy. I just wonder why you spew this excrement in every post, and then when somebody calls out out on it, or asks you specifics, all you do is more name-calling.

Maybe it's because you don't know how to win an argument with facts...because you don't even know what you believe.

"Hey, let's jump on the anti-Howard bandwagon because everyone's doing it! I invented Howard-bashing! Tell 'em, Fred!" - Leader_of_the_pests

To be as retarded as you are is either really painful or really blissful. You tell me, how are those delusions of intellectualism you feel you're participating in by listening to the Opie and Anthony show? You're a dope, and the very fact that you are capable of computer usage is frightening.

Stern waits until now to start promoting for this company?! Sirius/XM has waited too long for..... too long! Horrible management, and an overdependence on the automobile are just two of the many appalling mistakes these clowns have made as satellite radio death spirals toward oblivion. I love the product and the service, but anything that they (management) could do to assure the collapse of satellite radio, they have done - with great zeal!!! A fantastic product. 20 million subscribers. The best content, even after they diluted it. Only a bunch of inept dopes with not a clue in the world could drag this venture to the deplorable depths where it now resides.

No doubt, the government screwed the company over royally, and is absolutely accountable for ruining satellite radios chance of survival - but so many things could have been done since then. When every other person on the street doesn't even know that the product exists, you know there are inherent, profound problems.

Another thing that amazes me is that we live in a world that is completely obsessed, fascinated, and strangely in love with cell phones. It is an addiction, and for a lot of people it is their security blanket. Their life support system; I think some people would die if they didn't have a phone attached to their ear 19 hours a day. The rest of the time they are texting. For these pathetic, shallow, low self esteem losers, the cell phone has become the only thing that validates them as a person. They have to be talking to someone - ANYONE - all the time, lest they realize the worthlessness of their existence on this planet!

My point, you ask? Well, for one thing, millions of people are on the phone so often - saying absolutely nothing - that they would never consider satellite radio in the first place. They would never have time to listen to it! Americans are very lazy, and they love convenience. They love having that fucking phone in their pocket, or purse, etc. so they can bullshit to their stupid friends at a moments notice. Why then isn't satellite radio more appealing to the lethergic slugs out there who crave convenience? Who crave not having to think. Who crave not having to move their fat asses off the recliner, unless it's to get more twinkies and whipped cream from the fridge. It seems like a product that people would lust after; you don't have to load it. The content is already there - just activate it and hit the "on" button.

I can think of no other product that is as misunderstood and maligned as satellite radio. It has to be the enigmas of all enigmas. One thing is for certain, when all is said and done; the management of this company have no viable business plan, they have no vision for the technology or the company, they have never made ANY attempt to satisfy the desires of the subscribers (the "best of"- you have to be shitting me!). They have been disconnected all along - to the marketplace, the listeners, the proper way to promote the service, and to the younger generation.

I used to think the NAB was Sirius/XM's biggest adversary. In truth, their worst enemy is.... THEMSELVES !!!!!

Doesn't it seem strange that Stern is paid more than Madonna's entire net worth, or more than Will Smith (Hollywood's highest paid actor.) Why starve out an entire staff to feed one dj, no matter how big a name he is. Seems crazy to me.

The truth being the truth, O&A "probably" would have overtaken Stern had they not gotten greedy and sold out the integrity of their show to return to terrestrial radio. Having been a fan of both shows, The Stern Show is just not as good anymore...nor is O&A these days.

The best comparison radio-wise would be Stern circa 1994-8 to O&A the first year or so on XM. Both were the type of radio where I would constantly be late for stuff because I wouldn't get out of my car.

For the last year though, I listen to a little stern, a little O&A, and basically only really make a point to catch Ron and Fez because it's fresh and different than either of the two shows listed above.

It's funny how O&A bashed on fans when we were disappointed in their return to terrestrial radio now that it's all played out and proved to be the downfall of their program.

As for stern, it's funny that the realization that he's not a radio god caught him, the a-list guests dried up, and his show had to turn into a mere internalized look at his staff and their "zany" antics.

And sadly, this is the cream of the crop of talk radio.

Wow, radio is terrible in 2008/9.

Good Spot. I can't say whether Howard is better than ever, I only started listening to him when he came to Sirius.

But I can say its the best radio show I've ever heard in my life.

I can't live without sat. radio. I don't know why they can't make money off this product, because its a great product.

I thought they had over 170 channels not 130.

money man i couldn't agree with you more. For what they are paying Stern, management could have lured 100 other top broadcasters (at 1 mil each) away from "old fashioned" terrestrial radio, and practically filled up every channel with top radio talent. After all, Stern is always railing on about how poorly "old fashioned" radio treats their talent. I am sure very few are even making even ONE million, and would jump at the chance to be heard potentially by 20+ million listeners.

Big fuckin' deal.....Howie does a commercial. The company should have concentrated on ad sales for his channels and then maybe...maybe...in cold day in hell....might break even on what the fuck they pay him. If it was anyone else and you couldn't produce a profit....yes, profit for the company, your ass would be sucking wind out on the street. Therefore...please RETIRE Howie!

2 people to each radio? 35 million listeners? Way to cook the books... Howie math at its finest.

Madonna & Will Smith are not worthy of licking Howard's taint. Been listening to replays and the history and marveling how the show has evolved. Can't wait for them to come back from vacation!

I'm 31 years old. I've started listening to Stern since he was replayed at night in boston. His show is better then ever I still laugh my ass off.
As for O&A I became a huge fan of thiers when they came back to boston when at wnew. The show was great lots of action.Fast forward to now they are boring after the move to k-rock.I bought sirius in april of 2004 because I thought they were going there not xm.I'm glad I kept sirius which i will still have it after Howard is gone its a great product.Regular radio sucks to many FUCKING commercial and the same songs over and over.
All the pests face it Howard is the babe ruth of radio. There will be other jocks with talent but howard will forever be the best.
All "the them fred",hoo-hoo bullshit doesn't matter.O&A have failed since the return to fm the show uncensored on xm was really good not wnew good but just good.O.K. rover beat them!!!! Fucking awful makes me want puke.I'm sick of the yuck, yuck we don't do dj stunts.Hmmmmm....Opie saying he might not come back right before the vaction how fucking hacky is that.O&A lost their edge the non-sellouts sold out and lost.FUCK FM RADIO sirius/xm will survive I will continue to listen to SIRIUS FUCK MY HOT WIFE and raise a son to bad he won't be able to listen live on air Howard Stern but I will make sure he listens to tapes.Just like Babe Ruth Howard will live forever.FIRE!!!!!!!!

Hey Retard of the Pests, The Stern show is still an out loud belly laugh..There is the Stern Show .... then everyone else.

O&A... Ummm, not so much!! B-O-R-I-N-G!

It's hard to believe people get there panties in a bunch over dumb radio shows. Just enjoy Stern or Opie & Anthony and be done with it. Instead we have childish people posting insults about people who listen to other radio shows. Sorry but that is pathetic.

wow! that wasnt even a good comeback! i mean did you spend the entire day to think of that! if it was funny i would respect you but since your comment was a 0.0 maybe you could listen to stern show and find more awful material to steal from!!! good job donkey! another wasted comment...thanks for adding nothing to this forum....

BEER LEAGUE = 0.0

leave the hook nosed hack alone!!!!
i wish i had his schedule 4 day week, 30 weeks a year for 500 million! and a bunch of clueless zombies who swear he's still funny!

Howard is just as entertaining and funny as he's ever been nowadays. Accept his superiority, for if you 0.0 fans strike him down he shall become more powerful than ever.

Opie and Aintfunny are an embarrasment to all of radio, both satellite and terestrial. This past year the majority of stations that carried them cancelled their show for low ratings. The brought just a few thousand listeners to satellite as compared to Howard bringing over a million. Mel should have fired those no-talent hacks. ZERO POINT ZERO.

Radio wars are for losers, who cares who has the "best" show, any morons that play into that are so lame. I'm a die hard Howard fan, but could less when he talks about the competition, it has never been an interesting subject. Your all playing into a sort of lame "WWF" hype. The OandA fans that call themselves pests remind me of little kids getting all excited to be initiated into some fake gang.

The Stern show is in it's best days since the Billy West era. Free radio is total garbage. Sirius will die anyway. O&A already died. Bubba just sold out his fans.

I laugh at the irony of a commercial on terrestrial radio advertising for a radio service that is commercial-free (at least in reference to the music channels).

As for the Sirius era for Stern, it's the main reason I signed up over 3 years ago. And I've never regretted it. And I've been a long time Stern fan (over 15 years now). The show makes me laugh. Sure, there's some older bits that I miss and some of the Richard and Sal phony phone calls are pretty stupid, but overall, it's worth the $240 a year I pay for two radios.
