Before this turns into the usual O&A/Howard bashing (BOO!) I'd like to make a comment. First and foremost Mel is a business man. If he didn't think that O&A had any value, he'd let them go. Simple as that. To say that Opie and Anthony were kissing his ass is silly. Have you ever kissed your boss' ass at work to get a promotion, or something else that you wanted? I am sure that there are those that are too cool for the room and will say "NO, I haven’t!" - I am not talking to you McDonalds employee. O&A want to remain on satellite and Mel is the one that will ultimately make the decision if they can. Should they have treated him disrespectfully to prove a point? Would that have made them cool? No, it would have made them look like fools. If are an O&A fan like myself and live in an area where you can not hear the show on FM, or just like the XM show they do, then just be fucking happy for them. Holy Shit! Give them a break already.
It comes down to this. Do you like having satellite radio? If your answer is yes, then just be glad that this merger went through. It didn't seem like XM or Sirius had much of a chance at surviving without it. If you are an O&A fan, great. If you are a Howard fan, great. Whether you want to accept it or not, they both add value to the company as a whole. The more successful satellite radio is, the more likely it will endure. It might be time for some of you to grow up and realize that. No one is holding a gun to your head telling you that you have to listen. If you are so horribly disappointed with satellite radio as it exists today, then cancel you subscription and move on.

BOTH SHOWS (and quite frankly, 10 others, as long as they're funny) deserve a right to be on the radio and let the listener market decide. NO ONE has the right to determine if their content is appropriate (quite frankly, not even the FCC if you ask me). It does seem childish. But i really dont like Howard. Every time i hear him (past about 15 years ago) he just sounds...... blah. I like many were fans of his. When O&A came on i gave them a chance and the rest is history.

I wouldn't be that surprised to see Howard 100/101 and The Virus merge around 2011. Howard seems to have left the door open to doing a midday or afternoon show that wouldn't require him to wake up at 4am.

If you actually ever listened to O&A, you would know that Howie-talk is, in reality, very rare. I listen to the BBBB-Boys every day, and if I were to add up all the Hoo-Hoo discussions in the past year, it wouldn't amount to more than 10 minutes.
They don't discuss HS because he just isn't relevant to their show. The stations, in the past, played up the "radio war" for ratings. Period.
