Audio: Opie & Anthony comments that caused XM suspension

XM stated that comments made on yesterday's O&A show "put into question whether they appreciate the seriousness of the matter" as their reason for suspending Opie and Anthony.
Orbitcast has obtained the audio in question. You can listen to it below:
It's obvious that XM is seeing some level of seriousness in the matter (either through pressure from the media, from subscribers/advertisers, or from the merger task force who felt this was bad for business... though it's hard to know for sure) and they're sending a clear message here that they're not messing around. XM generally isn't one to backdown from a good fight, which makes me wonder about the behind-the-scenes events that have led to this decision.

Comments
Look, the "pests" have been posting here and at other fan sites that their heros never meant the apology. XM management finally had to admin that they couldn't pretend to not know it.

true, roadrunner.
I don't think those comments were anything bad though.

Don't forget guys...love em or hate em, this is going to have a bad impact on SatRad as far as talk radio and adult humor goes. Many pay to hear uncensored talk, just like XM promoted the O&A show in Oct. of 04. This is just bring more attention to a fading situation.
Posted by: prozac ? | May 15, 2007 3:52 PM
I have to consider blaming the merger for this.
Oh well, XM used to be cool.

Even as they are going down, it's just one more sad attempt to get Howard's attention.

Appreciating the seriousness of it is exactly what they were doing.

Like some, I've never hated O&A(except for going back to shiterrestrial radio). You may be right. I have my doubts but anything is possible.

Stern fans, if you don't support O&A in this, when they come after Hoo Hoo, you can forget about the pests supporting you. And you guys lack the passion to do anything yourselves, so you better start doing the right thing, cause Howard is next.

"appreciate the seriousness of the matter"...what seriousness? oh rape is terrible, so is aids...no more robert reed jokes. tell me, what is 'not serious' enough that is allowed to be joked about?

"Stern fans, if you don't support O&A in this, when they come after Hoo Hoo, you can forget about the pests supporting you. "
well we thank the 10 of you who will support us.
I DONT support this and XM is starting a very very bad trend.
As for stern the money he is worth to that company, ect...he will not be taken off the air unless he rapes and kills someone in studio, then even then they might let him broadcast from jail...
According to Drugde "CBS RADIO: 'Our plan is for them to be on-air tomorrow'... "
guess you cant offend many people with a ZERO POINT ZERO huh?
did this even make it on the air at CBS or was it after the show moves to xm?

Only plus is more Ron & Fez but I am against this whole thing though. It is not good.

Do you really think there AREN'T people watching Howard already. He's wise and talented enough to know where the line is. It's not that he's gotten a free pass, he knows how to play the game.
You can claim the homeless guy said everything, the parts that were the most offensive were how excited O&A got thinking about the violence towards women. It may not have actually said rape, but it seems to be a very popular and recurring theme on this show.

PNess got it right. Sirius has WAAAAY too much money tied up in Stern. XM doesn't nearly have as much at stake.
Plus, if you didn't realize, Stern does do it VERY differently. That interview wouldn't have made a blip on the radar had it been stern doing the interview. I can promise you that. Bubba, maybe. Not Stern. You don't have to believe me, its true.
Posted by: Schimshamity ? | May 15, 2007 4:25 PM
LOL look at them asking for howard for help....god and they need it...
hahah good luck these two will get as much support as imus did.
difference again is stern does a different show then 99% of these people and he has the NEGRO SHIELD robin...so good luck getting him canned because of the "black crutch of racism"

"Stern fans, if you don't support O&A in this, when they come after Hoo Hoo, you can forget about the pests supporting you. "
For some reason, I seriously doubt that. If this was happeing to Howard you all work be doing victory laps around this board.
However, it is pretty $hitty what XM is doing here. Looks to me like they are looking for excuses to force your "boys" out.
See, it is possible for a Stern fan to be impartial. Try it sometime.

prozac: SatRad isn't as uncensored as you may think it is. Bubba has almost been fired a few times for what he's done on-air.
Posted by: Schimshamity ? | May 15, 2007 4:36 PM
Stern won't be going anywhere. Not because of how much they pay him, but because of his relationship with Karmazin. Howie and Melvin are tight. Hugh could give two shits about the boys.
Now I am off to flush my XM down the toilet, get a Sirius, and go fuck my mother....
Posted by: MeatFarley ? | May 15, 2007 4:47 PM
>Some will never get the point of how this sets a bad

I think it is the exact opposite. By policing themselves, and suspending them they show that they have a certain level of acceptable standards, and do not need a governmental agency providing oversight of content.
Posted by: dlynx | May 15, 2007 4:51 PM
What has Bubba almost been fired for?
Posted by: Anonymous Coward | May 15, 2007 4:54 PM
Bubba has shocked balls, tazered people, and threw shit/piss mixtures on people to name a few things. He's not had any threat of being fired.
Posted by: gyn | May 15, 2007 4:57 PM
Very sad day for XM. I listen to Ron & Fez more than O&A, but the general idea that they're suspending O&A for going over a line during an adult comedy talk show is insane. I expect that from FreeFM, not from XM. It's why I pay for XM. This is the content I want. If you don't like it, don't listen or block the channel.
Posted by: Shane | May 15, 2007 5:00 PM
XM is starting a dangerous precedent. They shouldn't have done this.

Posted by: Anonymous Coward | May 15, 2007 5:04 PM
Schimshamity,
While you are not as irritating as most of the Stern Fan's you are still quite diluted. I am going to speak for Prozac as well as most of the O&A fans that we understand you can still get fired for content of XM. Prior to this situation O&A have almost been fired three times. Those were:
1. The show that can't be mentioned (November 24, 2004)
2. Tooling on the gay intern who had a rich lawyer daddy.
3. The bullhorn during the "Attack on the Media"
We know that there is not complete freedom (like the hack statement "you can't yell fire in a crowded theatre"), but this situation brings real question as to who will be hit next. This is a matter of momentum. Imus goes. Some dope in California for repeating what Imus said goes. JV and Elvis go. Donnell Rawlings (aka Ashy Larry from Chappelle's Show) goes. Now O&A get suspended. What makes you think that Stern couldn't be next if in fact O&A are gone? For all of the 0.0 BS O&A are a bigger money maker for XM than Stern because of the syndication, the greater SatRad listeners, and the lower costs. If they can be hammered with the kind of profit they generate then why can't Stern? Also with more distractions gone then Stern gets to be Public Enemy Number 1.
Opie wanted us to unite so that we can be stronger together, and more difficult to take down. The industry needs both O&A and Stern (and the consumers have proven that). This is a time when we need to say enough and not let companies bow to the special interests.

There's a post at Wackbag, posted by the owner of the site, who is saying that they have been fired.

I have just received word that O&A have been FIRED from XM!!!
I was told this by an extremely trusted source, and not an employee/relative of an XM employee.
Get on the phone, cancel your XM. DO NOT take the 30-day credit - CANCEL it! XM will feel that much more on their bottom line than a 30-day dip.
If XM feels the sting of thousands of people canceling their subs, then there is some sort of a chance!
Zagman is the owner of the website, so there may be something to this.
Posted by: gilpdawg ? | May 15, 2007 5:17 PM
This is SO lame! It's all XM corporate Mgmt caving in due to the merger. It's all about setting O&A to be canned becuase Sirius and Howie don't like them.
First, XM radio is supposed to be for people who PAY to want to hear UNcencored radio. XM management is being two-faced and slapping its subscribers in the face by doing this for an XL channel. Shame.
Second, the homeless guy saying what he said was very FUNNY. It was no worse than many many other things that made it to the air without incident in the past.
I'm very angry with XM for this. They used to support their on-air talent. Now they stab them in the back.

Actually, yes he has. If you listen to the show, he been told not to do a ton of bits, mostly involving shocking the puss/ball and certain stunts involving the torture rack.
restopro, thank you for the backhanded compliment. I think. I think everyone, even the droney shills, is in agreement that what XM did was pretty lame. That being said, I will do my part by not buying an XM. You do yours by canceling and purchasing a Sirius. I think you may be a little misguided in the fact that you think O&A revenue(on shit radio or not) is even close to the revenue Stern generates, especially since O&A for XM isn't nearly as important as Stern is for Sirius. The fact that XM allowed them to become unexclusive kinda proves that. Although, I've seen that movie before and I don't feel like sitting through it again so I'm not starting an arguement with those comments.
Posted by: Schimshamity ? | May 15, 2007 5:46 PM
Opie and Anthony have not been fired.
There is no validity to that rumor according to my sources.
Posted by: Ryan Saghir ? | May 15, 2007 5:47 PM
I have thought about cancelling my XM, but if they are back in 30 days, XM reaps the benefits of charging me a connection fee for my 3 radios when I turn them back on.
I agree this is a bad trend that XM is setting, it is a shame they step out of the way and let their talk personalities fall on their face when it comes time to being politically correct. They are treating them like children. I am very pissed at XM's 'time out' for O&A.
I guess any movie on TV that depicts rape, racism, or any other of the super sensitive offences should be banned as well.
Honestly, I think they will be back in less than 2 weeks, the same amount of time it took Direct TV to realize thier mistake when they took them off the lineup.
Posted by: cplkittle | May 15, 2007 5:47 PM
Ryan, now NoFilterPaul is saying they are off XM for good, as well. As you probably know, Paul works closely with Jimmy, so this doesn't look good. I expect an announcement tomorrow. This blows.

O&A are on a pay service from 9-11 AM. People choose to pay for Sirius and XM to be entertained. We pay to listen to radio with no censorship and no boundaries.

I have just cancelled my XM service (2 unit account) that I have had for over 4 years now. This is not a Stern/O&A thing, this is a simple freedom of speech thing.
I know, I know, they pissed off their handlers and that's what this stems from, but it is primarily related to what was said a week ago by a homeless person they had in studio. If they were truely fired, then I will never use satellite radio again. If it's just a suspension, I may eventually go back. Who knows?
I do know that I am done with them and will be listening to my iPod in my car exclusively. Luckily I had a portable XM unit, so it's easily taken out and sold on Craigslist. I also suggest others cancel their service and let XM know WHY you are doing it.
Freedome of Speech is too high a price to pay just to save face in front of your investors.
I look forward to getting their show on CBS and Anthony's eventual podcast!

This is an XL channel. I pay to hear this. If someone else doesn't want to hear it they can block the channel.
Suspending O&A from XM is like suspending a show on HBO for showing boobies. I am PAYING for those boobies.
Satelite radio was touted as the outpost of free speech. I don't care if its O&A, Howard, Bubba, Ron and Fez, Playboy radio, or even Oprah. There is nothing that can be said on the radio that can hurt me. In any way shape or form. Sticks and stones man, I leanred it in kindergarden and it still rings true today. Apparently XM has forgotten.
The only correct way to combate speech that upsets you is with more speech. Curtailing that speech goes against the very principles that our freedoms are based on.

I think the world is to PC. I hate that. Anything you say is taken the wrong way. It is BS as well because we pay for XM and Sirius so we have no commercials and can hear profanity and obscene things. Christ Sirius has a Playboy channel. Why do we keep attacking the people that bring enjoyment to us. We the fans do not. Other people look and search for one moment of slip up and attack. Its BS. Star bucks being attacked for a religious cup. Imus dropped for saying nappy headed hoes. While we all focus on this people are murdered or tortured, but this is the bigger deal. Why?

Shimshady,
When you pay someone a billion dollars and their ad revenue is almost zilch your talent is not making money for the company. Howie's salary is the reason they are in the hole they are in. O&A are Howie's best friend. He's disappeared into obscurity while they are the top dogs right now. Lose O&A and Howie will be next. Howie does nothing differently, his show is the same today as 20 years ago and maybe it wouldn't have made a blip had the interview been on his show but that's because no one's listening. If O&A go, Howie will be directly in the crosshairs. and Mel can't save him. Even the almightly Mel has bosses to answer to. Get a Sirius? Why? I had one. Howie sucks, the music's repetitive, the DJ's annoying, the hardware stinks and give it time, if O&A go, so does Howie, then what do you have? And poor Sirius. they already agreed to the 4.6 stock exchange. If O&A go, so do half XM subscribers. I know you like to think only a few hundred people listen but the fact is they have more listeners on XM alone, plus XM gets $ and free advertising by having them on FM. It's a great deal for everyone. Either stand up for free speech or choose to be like Howie and only support it when it's in your favor.
Posted by: PFreak ? | May 15, 2007 6:44 PM
Looks like I'll be using my iPod in the car a lot more...At least until I hear it's official they've been fired, or the suspension ends. I think this will negatively affect Ron and Fez as well. I know the two shows had separate fans, but lets face it; many of us started listening to R&F once O&A brought them on board. If the hardcore O&A fans cancel, that'll likely mean fewer listeners for R&F, which could lead to them being pulled eventually. Hopefully, a station here in Seattle will step up to the plate and bring the Free FM show to town. If Norton's show here in Seattle was any indication a couple weeks ago, I think O&A have a pretty good fan base here in the Northwest who would love to see the show on the air here.
I still can't find the audio. Usually, when Ryan posts audio or video, my screenreader (JAWS) tells me there's a "Flash Movie", and presents me with the buttons...No such luck here. I'll give it a shot from home. I'm trying to think of what they could've said yesterday that would make XM think they weren't taking this seriously. My wife and I are leaning more toward cancelling our two XM radios and just sticking with the iPod and CDs for now.
Posted by: Wes Derby ? | May 15, 2007 6:57 PM
1. XM has placed this under a bigger spotlight by suspending them. Should have left well enough alone.
2. If you got XM only because of O&A, and you don't enjoy the other wonderful programming, then you have an argument to CONSIDER cancelling.
3. If you cancel because of the suspension, and after O&A come back (assumption here), and you refuse to rejoin, then your stubbornness wins over your intelligence.
I agree that XM should have left it alone -- and stood up for what sat radio is all about. These guys do comedy -- if you are light of heart, don't listen. If you are repulsed easily, don't listen. I doubt one O&A fan considered cancelling because of the statement.

The seriousness of the double standard, of being taken out of context, of being expected to adhere to the same rules on satellite as they do on terrestrial. Those are the real issues here. Seems to me XM was just looking for any excuse.
Posted by: Jim Treacher ? | May 15, 2007 7:02 PM
The fired rumors are spreading and some of the well known regulars who call into the show quite a bit are now saying its being confirmed by the "highest sources".
It's starting to smell like the ol' suspended to buy our lawyers and account retention departments time for the firing.
Oh well, if it's true satellite radio will be dead to me. Time to set up iTunes for podcasts and buy an iPod.

I understand that you howie fans are happy but jesus, you MUST see where this is going... Its only a matter of time.

Man, this really sucks. To those who are saying it's not true - go to XM's homepage, it's right there. To those who are saying 0.0 or some other inane bs that stern has spouted - they are doing very well on some terrestrial radio stations, poorly on others - just like Stern did when he was on radio. Stern was pulled from stations too, even at the height of his tenure. And I agree that he's the next one to have the target planted firmly on his back... that is if anyone cares about him outside of his hard core loyal fan base, diminishing as it is. O&A are (were) one of the top 10 listened to channels on XM, and since XM has always been 1M subs plus on Sirius, puts them at least pretty even, if not above Howard's "share" whatever that corresponds to in satellite. Yes he's in bed with Mel, but Mel still has subscribers and stockholders (and politicians) to answer to... Stern's not immune by a long streak. Just wait for him to start bitching like it was 04 again about censorship and everything when he is told to back off on something - and see how entertaining his show will become. This is a sad sad days for free speech - if you can't say what you like on a subscription pay service "locker room" type show - where can you say it?

In their defense, those idiots really didn't say anything that bad.
Sounds like XM is looking for an excuse to fire them and I'm sure there's plenty more going on behind the scenes that we don't know about.
Either way, it's a typical weasly management move. I'm sure Sirius is capable of the same thing (what company's management isn't?), but they haven't done something similar YET.
It's a good thing XM management is probably getting shit-canned themselves after the merger, golden parachutes and all...

I think we need a free radio site formatted after the world depicted in "Demolition Man". Let those who have the conservative hipocritical head up thier ass listen to sanitized radio clips.
And for those who live int he real world around us , let there be Underworld Uleashed radio where we can pay for the priviledge of listening to whatever we want. That radio market is "OUR CHOICE" and screw the UNFREE radio crap I have been listening to lately.
Apply the same censorship to the world crises we see and live every day. Perhaps we can simply stop the BS at the airwave borders and charge a fee for passage to our world. No money.... no baloney....KEEP OUR WORLD REAL or we will surely loose our freedoms... that id those we have left...

Apply the same censorship to the world crises we see and live every day. Perhaps we can simply stop the BS at the airwave borders and charge a fee for passage to our world. No money.... no baloney....KEEP OUR WORLD REAL or we will surely loose our freedoms... those we have left...

I try to not respond to the..... stern fans but
"Sounds like XM is looking for an excuse to fire them and I'm sure there's plenty more going on behind the scenes that we don't know about."
You know nothing. You think they are in the process of rebuilding the studio just for Ron and Fez? It has been said many times on air by XM execs that O&A are very popular on XM, if not the most popular. Like when Eric Logan said they had more listeners than Dylan. Again, you dont know what your talking about.
If i was a betting man i would put money that Stern hints/lies about being behind this tomorrow. And i wouldnt be shocked if him/mel really are. I know if and when the merger happens, which it probably wont, they would be gone anyway. Shit, they even knew it.

Who cares what the stern lackies say. Most of them are old men. Stern doesn't have to worry because he is tame. He spent 10 years (by his own admission) doing subpar radio on FM, and apparently the trend has continued to Sirius.
The Stern fans can't be bothered with O&A, they have retirement to worry about.
Posted by: Peeps | May 15, 2007 7:51 PM
I have been paying $13/month for nearly two years now to listen to O&A on XM Radio. Their station is easily blocked, as are all stations with explicit language (denoted with an xL in the station name). Every single person listening to any station on XM Radio who hears profanity does so at their own risk and is aware of that. Do not make this into a freedom of speech issue, as XM certainly can choose to do what they want with their content, the flipside is that every single one of their customers is well aware of the content offered by the satellite service as well as the stations they listen to. I am waiting a few days to see how the dust settles but if the 30 day suspension stands I will be cancelling my subscription. I cannot pay $150/year to a company who clearly does not have its customers best interest in mind. It is likely that the only people offended by this content were those who heard it secondhand or rebroadcast on a website, as the folks shelling out their money every month are well accustomed to the radio show’s content in addition to being aware that the remarks in question were said by a studio guest rather than the hosts. It would have completely gone against the character of the show to admonish this guest for his behavior, so I’m uncertain what course of action XM would have preferred Opie & Anthony to take. O&A would have alienated their loyal fanbase if they did such a thing, and instead the XM brass is alienating their fanbase from them for at least a month. I certainly hope they come to their senses and repeal this punishment, which is completely unfair in my opinion.

XM's Senior management:

Corporate office number:

Press one for a directory, then type the last name of the person. It is going to be a bad morning at XM HQ on Wednesday.
Panero and E-Lo's boxes are full but I got through on Davis and Irvin.

XM is tryin to bring in fuckin subs. Sirius and XM are in a battle for the few people in America that are willing to pay for radio. Stop with all this fuckin censorship bullshit, this was a bussiness move. It wasnt an act of congress, it was XM sayin to itself "I think were gonna take a hit in new subs if were known as the Sat radio company that endorses rapeing the first lady and the fuckin queen of england and the fuckin sec of state. "
take note from the Godfather............its not personal its just bussiness

Posted by: sternfan73 ? | May 15, 2007 8:22 PM
This is a bunch of crap.
I have three xm radios that I pay for every month.
They are never off 202 and now I cant listen to it,
WHAT HAPPEN TO UNSENSORED.WHAT HAPPEN TO CHANNEL BLOCKING.This is what the problem with this country is,they tell you that you will get something then once you start paying they change there tune.WHY DONT THEY STAND UP FOR THE PEOPLE THAT WORK FOR THEM,THEY ARE STUPID It is unsensored if you dont like it DON'T GOD DAMD LISTEN.If this goes any farther I WILL cancel my xm,download all o&a stuff to my ipod
Posted by: jachris | May 15, 2007 8:33 PM
I'm on the phone right now to cancel. I've been a subscriber since November 14, 2001. I have 4 subs. I also am a shareholder; I've got a sell order in for my shares at market open tomorrow.
If you guys don't want to cancel - I propose this. Tell them if they're going to suspend O&A for 30 days, you want 30 days credit - or else you'll cancel. You pay for things like O&A. If they won't provide it, you don't want to subscribe.
I'm sick of this; if anyone shouldn't be bowing to political pressure, it's XM. This makes XM no different from terrestrial in the long run.
I've been on hold for 20 minutes right now once I said "cancel". Interesting. I wonder what that means.
Posted by: tcp100 | May 15, 2007 8:34 PM
your all very dumb to think stern.............howard stern.......is behind them getting fired. Howard doesnt give a shit what they do and why would he......................your blaming their own stupidity and lack of talent on somone like howard stern.........just shows how bright u really are...They would be good for the merger adding variety for the customers. I would belive the reason they got fired is because they JEPORDIZED THE FUCKING MERGER. A bit about raping somone is just not funny. But putting humor aside, its common sense that nothing good would come out of talking about rape against bushs wife...................Maybe thats why management decided to let them go you fucks. SAT RAD DOES NOT NEED THIS BAD PRESS AT A TIME WHEN THEY ARE UNDER THE MAGNIFYING GLASS FOR THE WORLD TO SEE. THEY ARE TRYING TO PROVE THEMSELVES AS A RESPONISBLE ENTITY. post merger this shit would never happen.

It was amusing that their comments revolved around Howard. Their obsession with him is pathetic.
Heh. Idiots.
Zero. Point. Zero.
Posted by: MikeHunt ? | May 15, 2007 8:52 PM
What a dissapointment XM became.
Subscription will be cancelled if O&A are fired, and I believe that this is a "tiered" approach. O&A will probably be fired in a week or so.
Thanks for ripping me off, XM.

A side note...
It took at least one hour on hold to reach a customer support rep. I don't know how much longer after that as I stopped looking at the clock around the one hour mark and distracted myself with random websites.
He asked for my name, verified my address and asked why I was calling. I simply stated I was calling to cancel due to O&As suspension and immediately the customer support rep launched into reading what had to be a script.
The statement he read was worded to make it sound like customer support understood our concerns and they would be collecting data on the number of calls and reporting it to headquarters. It seemed to be carefully worded to make it sound like customer service reps were on the side of the listener about this event without saying anything concrete. I found the use of "to tell headquarters what they had done" to be amusing. Very weasel worded and obviously someone with some skill at PR had prepared the statement.
He stated that if I chose to return after a cancellation that there would be a $14.95(?) reactivation fee. He then offered to "suspend the account" for one month "until they return". I declined and the customer support rep then basically said the account was canceled and the script at that point was the usual positive goodbye spin.
After the long wait the process of canceling itself was very streamlined and it was clear they had a recently prepared script for today and they were trying to clear people canceling over o&a off the phones as fast as possible without seeming rude.
Oh and the customer sales rep sounded very American and there was no audible background noise. Take it for what it's worth.

Do you even check the facts. here they are: Tim Sabian was on the phone with Opie Denying they had a 0.0 in any market. I guess the Stern brainwashing has completely taken over.

face facts "pests"... stern proves again that O&A are a couple of losers. I hope they lose their jobs forever and end up homeless. You pests are just a bunch of losers just like O&A.
Posted by: sternrulez ? | May 15, 2007 9:19 PM
How dare these talentless hacks ask Howard for help...they have some nerve after they talked about Howard's daughter drug overdose a couple of years back...it was private info that they made public and Stern should have sued their ass,but he didn't because he didnt want to call attention to it.
0 and 0 also gave Stern no support when he had to deal with the former head of the FCC Colin Powell's son...they laughed about all the fines Stern had to deal with...so screw them and their fans(all 2 of them)

Are you guys really that stupid? You all deserve all the crap coming your way. You don't tug on Superman's cape. I have canceled my sub. Not only do I listen to XM for O&A only, but there is a much bigger thing happening. The first amendment is being trampled by a small handful of jackasses that think they know what is best for all of us. If O&A come back on I will reactivate. Screw the fee, it's worth it to make a point. I was offered one month free and 6 months half price but it's still worth it to make a very important point. No body has the right to decide what I can and can not hear. This is not a public broadcast. If you are offended, block the channel with a visit to the website. They are on a rampage now ( the censors) eventually they will get Howie and friends. Now if you'll excuse me I have a XM unit to flush and My mom is waiting...
Posted by: pbod153 | May 15, 2007 9:52 PM
What is the purpose of them being on a explicit language channel if they can't say what they want? Are they the first to get suspended for what a guest was saying?

Stern went through this many times. Sometimes he lost stations to it. He didn't apologize, that's why he is still going despite millions in fines and lawsuits.
The 0.0 Boys lose markets for poor ratings and now XM for a poor bit and hypocritical apology. O & A always lie to their fans.
Posted by: Howard Owns You | May 15, 2007 10:05 PM
Cancelled my sub. I was on hold for over 40 minutes. XM's retention department must be boing nuts. This story was over until XM decided to bring it back up. And as far as them being suspended...you know what that means...they're gone.
XM just shot themselves in the foot with a double-barreled shotgun. Goodbye unrestricted talk on satrad. They just gave it away for a few dollars. I can't wait to see the number of subs dropped next quarter.
It was a fun ride while it lasted on XM.
Stern's next! HOO HOO I invented getting fired from the radio! Right Robin?
Posted by: Frank the Frowner | May 15, 2007 10:07 PM
if i had xm i would be on the phone cancelling right now. you xm subs need to send a message to xm. you pay for your favorite radio shows. you need to stand up for your rights.
send a message to xm. cancel your subs and go buy Sirius. you still get o&a in the morning on FreeFM, and throughout the day you get uncensored, commercial free radio.

LOL stern is old? Dude anthony is just as old as howie and opie is only a few years younger, btw anthony looks like an old washed up man. You pests are freaking idiots. We will laugh it up because now that O&A have been fired they wont get another job LOL HAHAHAHAHHAHHAHHAA You messed with the bull you got the horns.
Maybe if O&A actually had some numbers they wouldnt have gotten fire. Face facts pests.. O&A were deadweight!
Posted by: sternrulez ? | May 15, 2007 10:09 PM
Here is the kicker, this merger is happening and this incident was just what mel needed to cut the dead weight from XM. Howie had O&A fired.
Posted by: sternrulez ? | May 15, 2007 10:10 PM
The only thing that O and A are guilty of is not being funny. They are not even in the same class as HS and should not be compared to Stern. Stern's comedy is on a whole different level. You do not understand the Stern show if you tink Stern would say something as stupid and unfunny as this.
And I am so glad that I have Sirius!! XM did not back their "talent". Huge mistake.
Posted by: cpovolny | May 15, 2007 10:12 PM
The thing that bugs me about all you guys fighting back and forth, stern o&a-stern-o&a is that this WILL afect E V E R Y O N E!!!!!!!!!!
It dont matter who you like or who you watch all this stuff that happened in the last mounth or so is screwing us,the people that pay, listen, watch our fav show. The thing that realy bugs me is that xm is stealing our money from us.we pay for a service that is supposed to be UNCENSORED and it realy is not.
xm also says that they give o&a creative freedom, how can that be if this is what happend.
I short xm LIED TO US AND ROBBED us.
So I hope that you all stop and think about this before you start bashing eachother.
Just think this is all the begining of things to come.

but then who would they have to blame.
it cant be them.

Posted by: Geordie | May 15, 2007 10:34 PM
the millions of O&A fans are currently showing XM what they think of this by canceling their subscriptions and putting XM stock in the toilet. I hope some XM execs start jumping out windows when they realize the mistake that they made.

Yeah, that's why they had the top-rated talk channel on XM and had CBS groveling at their feet to return to their terrestrial stations.
All this time and they've been putting on the unfunniest radio program in America.

well there goes free speech.. hey Al "shrapmetal" Sharpton... thanks... Hey XM... you are the new FM.. The new AM.... The new throw away technology... just like the VCR... welcome to the trash heap... oh yea... by the way, who can these guys count on for a job at the merged company if it happens?? NO ONE!!! they made an attempt to appologize and just like Imus, they're fired... what? they aren't fired?? just wait.. they will be.. then XM needs to turn the Virus channel into herpies central.. cause it will suck to have it...I've said it before and I'll say it again their show is just a lark.. fun to listen to.. they rip on everybody. But it's fun.. hey, they now have become very relevent... something that if you would have asked them they more then likely would have said they aren't.. they are just fun, or were.. they are as good as fired, and if not then they won't be able to do the same show after this anyway.. it's a goof.. they are goofs.. the show is mostly stupid humor, and I will miss it...
Posted by: harry | May 15, 2007 10:59 PM
I don't think i heard one reference to the actual incident that happened on XM.. if this is the entire audio that XM is basing there decision on, then xm is wrong.. If they do fire the boys, XM is really gonna have a hell of time with the merger while being sued.. careful XM you really might screw things up here..

If these guys would have just kept their mouths shut, this would not have happened. They brought it on themselves. This has nothing to with free speech, this has to do with them mocking the apology they gave. This pissed XM off and XM thought they needed to send them a message and they did with a 30 day suspension.
WOW= We're Outta Work.

Stern makes $72,000,000 for Sirius per month (6 mill subscribers x $12). In 10 months, that equals his pay for the entire 5 years of his contract.
O+A crawled back to FreeFM and called Howard a punk. Now, when they need help they cry synergy. LMAO ! If I was a O+A fan, I would quit listening because of their lack of manhood. Accept responsibilities for your own dumb actions, don't go ask help from your superiors.
There is nothing funny about the "bit" they did - it's too bad they don't have any barometer as to what's funny. The sex in church bit was lame too. O+A should realize that you don't have to be shocking, even though you are called shock jocks.
The difference between Howard and O+A is really simple. Howard and company talk amongst each other and guests of the show like they were sitting in your college dorm, hanging out with you and your friends. O+A try and shock you with bits and "outrageous" commentary. I wouldn't talk about Condolezza getting raped with my friends. I'd talk about how she has a nice ass though.
You probably don't get my point if you are a fan of O+A. If O+A and all the howard wannabes realized this and how simple it is to do - they wouldn't need to
