Audio: Program Director "thanks" management on-air - Orbitcast
XM Lucy Program Director Bill Hutton signed off the "XM Saturday Night" show by, uhm, thanking everyone who made him a failure - including management and those who advised him to buy satellite radio stock.

It's an entirely humorous segment, and should be taken no differently, but regardless it's well worth a listen. Enjoy.

Coming up next on Lucy?

according to the website, Lithium

That is one helluva note to go out on. From the thanks, to the song, if only all of us could go out like that.

Best line, "To Lee Abrams, who had a wonderful dream, that radio could be smart, creative, and fun again. What the hell were you thinking?"

That sums it up for me Bill.

That was hilarious.

"To Lee Abrams, who had a wonderful dream, that radio could be smart, creative, and fun again. What the hell were you thinking?"

That line, in the sarcastic, self-deprecating style of Bill Hutton and Lucy, captures the sentiment perfectly...

The humor of Lucy will be missed!

can you tell me if sirius channel update is tommorow also,
thankyou and good luck to the longs!

The display on the screen also said "Not Worth $13." I think that says it all.

Can't say I liked Lucy on Saturday night, but I loved that station. I'm sad to see it go :(

That's quite a catch! I thought Pat Clarke did an excellent finish to his time on 60's today...did anyone record it?

Well. That's it then. F*ck you, Mel. You just lost 3 Sirius subs and 1 XM sub courtesy of my family.

EABOD and DIAF Asshat

It was an interesting signoff. His position is gone but doing it on a public level will leave questions for his future employer. Interesting

Billy's entire Lucy show on Saturday night was a riot! Every 15 minutes or so you would here about the prize closet where you could win "an antiquated piece of technology... An eight-track player" - a transparent dig, but funny. I wish I had my Inno recording his and everyone else's last shows.

What a great show - and what a shame to lose some of the great personalities that made XM the best music experience.

Goodbye: XMX (let's go back to appointment listening - not)
Goodbye: Fred (what a shame)
Goodbye: Lucy (I still don't understand)
Goodbye: Ethel (I mean really...really?)
Goodbye: FineTuning (where else will you hear such an amazing programming)
Goodbye: XCountry (A gem lost)
Goodbye: Fungus (F*&K All)
Goodbye: XMU (Tobi and Billy - You were the best)
Goodbye: XMLM (as we rocked to you)

WAAHHHHHHH! WAAHHHHHHH!

This Hutton guy sounds like a real sore loser(douchebag). His loss is satellite radio's gain.

Geeze, I guess the anti-merger folks were right. Thanks to orbitcast for it's part in cheerleading this fiasco.

I especially love the Slacker plug at the end, as that's where I'm headed - and I'll get O&A from mothergoose at tpb.

How long will I be on hold to cancel? It's anyone's guess.

You all notice how he plugged Slacker at the end there? That made me laugh.

RIP Ethel & Lucy.

That guy was the furthest thing from funny. I was hoping for something good. Oh well.

gone daddy gone, you forgot goodbye to The Rhyme as well.

The farewell was great, and Lucy will be missed.

You can't listen to O&A on regular radio? Oh wait they get 0.0 so I doubt anyone is listening to those guys! Have fun with slacker its so dumb!

I cannot decide whether I am in a deep depression or if I am having a panic attack. I can hardly believe that my LUCY is GONE. The Lucy that spoke to my (apparently) unnamed generation. I just turned 39. I've looked everywhere online trying to find the wonderful Lucy announcer funnies. Where can I find that? This is like witnessing an assasination. I can remember where I was the last time I listened to Lucy. The announcer said something like, "the music your ex-boyfriend was listening to in his head while he pretended to listen to you." Please, isn't there anything we can do? How can I find a list of the one liners? Recordings of the old saturday nite show? The music??? Lithium is NOT the same. I've listened to it all day - searching for some shred of Lucy, but she is gone to me forever. LUCY FANS UNITE. HOW DO WE GET HER BACK???????????????

one less reason to pay for radio. I already have one unit sittig idly by waiting for me to hook it up again, but after seeing that the merger was really a complete takeover of XM I suppose I should just put my roadie in the blender and make a video. Listen up Mel..the ONLY REASON I PAY FOR RADIO IS FOR OPIE, ANTHONY AND LIL JIMMY NORTON. The day they leave, I'm out....

I think its really sad how grown people are complaining, crying and moaning about a channel being gone. Sure, I didnt listen to Lucy but I lost channels in this merger too and im not sitting here all upset. Its not like they killed your first born child, get over it.

Oh Get Over It!!! What a douchebag! Who listened to this crap any way? If he had an ounce of talent-he would still be employed!

Oh, I always wanted to do that!!! Having been on the air for 30+ years, I can say that many, if not most, of the on-air people would have loved to do what Bill did...way to go, Bill! Biting, funny, to the point and in your face, as his humor on Saturday Night always was.

And to the anonymous poster above, if you think that talent is what keeps people on the air, then you are very, very uninformed. Perhaps more reading and less posting? Bill Hutton is a class act and a very good talent who got caught in a very bad bunch of business dealings.

Hi All,
Like many of you I'm upset about the cancellation of so many quality stations with deep play lists in favor of hack DJ's and the same 200 songs on rotation. I posted a petition online and I'm asking for people to sign it and forward it on to friends and family.

I have some emails of the Sirius Execs. and will forward the petition to them to show our extreme displeasure with the state of satellite music.

I will also post the emails below the petition link.

I continue to be disappointed by the loss of Lucy (xm 54) & Bill Hutton. As of a few moments ago there's a new website called www.lucyfansunite.com for us. Please feel free to post any Lucy thoughts there too! There are at least 2 other petitions online protesting the loss of Lucy & Bill Hutton in addition to the one mentioned above. I hope that Lucy fans can find one location to share thoughts and ideas about how we can make an impact on these executives.

Jeez ... I will probably cancel my three XM subs due to the loss of Lucy, but good riddance to that GOD AWFUL XM Saturday Night, I heard about a minute of it on the first night and never wasted my time again. Mr. Hutton - let the music and liners do the talking next time.

To all Bill Hutton fans~ You can follow him on Twitter: http://twitter.com/annoybillhutton for those funny one-liners!
