So, is it more money to get the best of both platforms? That doesn't seem to be a good way to attract more listeners, does it?
How much is it? Does one price include all the radios on an account?
I just signed up on my Inno. Listening to Howard 101 now.
I was able to subscribe online and I am listening to the Best or Sirus channels on my good old Skyfi 1!
This whole thing is confusing.
SiriusXM should just push the combined services live and be done with it. Enough with these confusing packages. Makes things too complicated for new and existing customers.
I tried tuning this morning and my XM unit skipped from channel 110 to channel 97.
Mine did the same thing. So it does cost more to add the other programs now?
If the picture shown above is correct this is good news, I have a Skyfi2 as well as a Myfi, hopefully soon i'll get the best of Sirius.
The new channels on XM are "hidden" until you subscribe to the "Best of" package.
And it's really not that confusing: Want the "Best of"? It's $4 more, per month, PER RADIO. You can pick and choose which radios you want to add to.
Want to pick and choose your channels? Only available on new "a la carte" radios (in stores next Monday).
G-man: there doesn't seem to be a free "preview" going on right now. Perhaps they'll do that in the near future.
Trying to add it to my Inno online. The site keeps blowing up. Dealing with a broken website is still better than listening to HDradio, AMIRITE?!?
Trying to upgrade now, tell me 2 hour wait because the servers are overloaded.
I agree with G-Man. The subscription plans are getting to be as bad as cell plans.
We should have no more than 3 plans: A La Carte, "All of this service's channels (including 'best of')", and "All services on both networks" at a discounted rate.
And if I have XM, I should be able to add a Sirius radio on the family plan. Likewise, I should be able to add an XM radio to a Sirius account at the family plan rate.
even though the site appears to be running extremely slowly right now
Incidentally, I tried to check my on-line account on XM, and I just get an error trying to log in. Maybe I'll try tomorrow.
"Te Howard Stern Show" rocks!!! ;-)
*Incidentally, I tried to check my on-line account on XM, and I just get an error trying to log in. Maybe I'll try tomorrow.*
Same here. We weren't meant to sign up yet anyway, so I can wait another few days...
If they are ONE company now the select channels would be a nice bone for customers, why charge more? Keeping these two companies separate is stupid. Pick the best top 150 channels and pump the exact same channels to both customers. It is a money grab for Stern. I have Sirius and I will not be spending $4.00 more dollars for any "Best of XM". It is total BS, If I wanted XM programming I would have bought XM in the first place.
I just called in to merge my new vehicle with my existing account and told them to add the Best of Sirius. He tried to charge me the 3 year subscription price. I told him I wanted month to month. Just checked my car radio and it hadn't updated yet. May need to refresh the signal, but I can't log in to my account.
It does seem that XM subscribers are getting the better end of this deal. Howard, Martha and the NFL in exchange for Oprah, Hockey and O&A? I haven't seen a trade this bad since last years baseball trade deadline.
What happens if I buy a Inno now will I get the option to subscribe to the best of now or only XM programming. If I wait until Monday to I get the best of then? I want a inno not a stiletto and want the best of both. Am I making this harder than it really is.
Ranger: no need to log into your account to refresh the signal:
Carrie: when you subscribe the new Inno, you will get the option to add "Best of SIRIUS" to your subscription (or you can ask for it). The website and CSR's are overloaded today, it seems. You may want to wait on activating until this evening/tomorrow.
XM listeners are most definitely getting the better end of this deal. Howard Stern in a trade for Oprah and Opie. Woopitydoo.
Can't seem to find the option to add Best of Sirius once I log in to my account...Every link I click tells me that the page isn't there and that XMradio.com has recently been redesigned. I'll call on my lunch hour or something; wanting to add Best of Sirius to two of my radios. I sat on hold for a bit, and the recording mentioned that if you sign up for "Best of Sirius", you could qualify to get up to 9 months of "XM Everything" and "Best of Sirius" free. Anybody know how that one works, what extra piece of equipment I need to be willing to buy? I'll try again later when I have more time to sit on hold. :)
Had SiriusXM not signed O and A I would have cancelled my 3 radio subscription. Lets all try to get along but lets face it, Howard is an elderly douche.
I don't see the Family Plan ($6.99 for additional radios ) on either Sirius's web site or XM's web site . I hope they're keeping this .
I can see it on both websites but I am not logged in since I am not a subscriber. Maybe because of the traffic of logged in subscribers is slowing down the servers. Hope the xm and sirius sites does not crash. Thank for your response Nathan.
I got into my account once, but then it errored and kicked me out. Now I can't get in, and I also can't get the Mac widget for XMRO to work.
Mine seems to have gone through. 100 and 101 both broadcasting on my unit.
They offered me an XpressEZ for $9.99, but they did not say anything about 9 months for free on my existing units.
Hmm, XM get the NFL and Howard and Sirius gets 2 guys I could get on Terrestrial Radio.
Why can't the get baseball on Sirius?
Hmm, XM gets the NFL and Howard and Sirius gets 2 guys I could get on Terrestrial Radio.
I'm so freaking excited. to those who say there are too many plans. NO. It's pretty simple if you look at the plans. It's high time xm offered just music and just talk. and I'm extremely glad they are operating as two separate companys. I enjoy the music on the xm side way more than on the sirius side, but I want my football and I have no problem paying five more bucks a month for that. I was against the murger at first, but I'm extremely pleased with how this has turned out.
For 3 hours I tried to update my XM subscription online. I gave up and called. I was on hold for about 10 minutes. I have three XM radios, one OEM in my Honda Element, a Roady XT, and a Delphi MyFi. The MyFi was the one I updated. Less than 2 minutes after the call was completed, I was receiving the "Best of Sirius".
I listened to Howard (100) for a few minutes and now I am listening to NFL talks (105).
Now I can listen to the Patriots game on Sunday since most likely it will not be shown in Richmond, VA.
Meh. It really doesn't matter to me anyway... Perhaps I'll consider Baseball come next Spring but XM never really had any content I ever wanted anyway.
I'm quite happy with Howard and the NFL for now (though the preempting of Sirius Punk is bullshit)...
I went online a couple hours ago and although the page was slow to load and I got an error message after attempting to upgrade, it went through anyway.
I now have the best of sirius ... and while I don't think $4 is horrible to spend for it, it should be free since it is the same company now.
To those who think XM listeners are getting a better deal: The only thing that belongs exclusivey to either Sirius or XM is Stern, and Sirius listeners already have him. "Best of Sirius" is a contrivance, since those who want Stern already have him via Sirius. So, XM listeners don't really benefit at all, other than more "variety", perhaps.
If there are "losers", its those who bought a certain car just to get Sirius, or who had to pay a lot to upgrade to Sirius in their cars.
But frankly, I prefer the pre-existing XM lineup (other than absence of Stern). So XM plus "best of Sirius" is, to me, the best deal. Which is what I'll get, since my car came preinstalled with XM, and it was standard, not an upgrade.
But, not to contradict myself, XM is the better deal, not in terns of the "trade", but because the music, I believe, is better.
I was using the website finally able to get one of my Skyfi2's to the Best of Sirius, but get error messages with the other one....tomorrow is another day, i just might have to call "Robert" in India for customer service, ugh
Sirocco- nothing is free. Your standard xm cost you at least $200. While MY xm cost me nothing. my invoice specifically stated XM Delete with a credit of $200.
Just wondering, how much did the upgraded programming cost you?
For some reason I thought the "Best of" was going to be the best 50 channels for the extra 4 bucks a month. That would make sense since it costs 9.99/mo (for 3 years sub)for well over 100 channels.
To me Martha Stuart, Stern, and football doesn't equate to added almost 50% to the cost of my radio.
Now if they had my Octane, Faction, Frank channel.... plus 30 other good channels I'd be all over this deal.
I am concerened buying a radio right now and then have all of this rearranged. I want the new XMp3 from pioneer and I want it now. Not only can I not get that but in the meantime I can not even listen to either. My receiver got stolen and returned by the police trashed. need a new receiver that records any suggestions as I get a discount for uping my contract. I am not under any current contract and in fact XM gave me 3 months free, but hey it may take me that long to ge a radio. LOL
First, Stern fanboys STFU! Second, this deal stinks! I wanted the NFL and NASCAR and willing to pay the $4. BUT I ONLY GET IT ON ONE RADIO! THIS BITES! If I want to hear a game or a race I have to go sit in my car or pay another $4 to listen to it in my house! Get used to more confusing packages, and VERY EXPENSIVE Ala Carte options in the future as Karmy tries to squeeze every penny out. If you have a 2 radio family plan, To get the "Best Of" on both radios your monthly goes up 40%!!! WTF??? I have 4 radios and only got the "Best Of" on one. This makes my monthly now over $40mo. Can't wait to see what they do when the rate freeze is over from the merger. Probably going to eliminate my MyFi sub now that I don't use that often to ofset this and maybe my garage radio too. Way to go Mel, you have now encouraged me to eliminate subs! Thats a good plan.
