Black History Month on XM
XM Satellite Radio will be airing special programming dedicated to Black History Month this February.
A few highlights include special Soul Edition episodes of XM's "Artist Confidential;" speeches and interviews with prominent African American authors, historians and leaders; the Negro League Baseball Museum's 7th Annual Legacy Awards; and more.

Each Friday throughout the month of February, The Power (ch 169) will broadcast speeches from prominent African Americans, offering analysis and discussion on their continued relevance today. The channel will also feature interviews with living legends of black history and black sports heroes, as well as a Black Historian Lecture series Monday through Friday for the entire month.
Other programming highlights include:
- The Spirit (ch 33) will present “A Moment In Time” – a collection of short-form programming airing throughout the month depicting historical events where Gospel artists have made great achievements in the rich heritage of African Americans, including Gospel legends Mahalia Jackson and Rev. James Cleveland.
- Real Jazz (ch 70) will broadcast Wynton Marsalis' Pulitzer prize-winning epic “Blood On The Field” on February 3rd (11am ET), which traces the journey of an African Couple sold into slavery in the United States.
- Beyond Jazz (ch 72) continues their tradition with “Black History Month Words & Music,” a meaningful conversation on various topics with 12 of the most influential African American artists in modern jazz.
- Sonic Theater (ch 163) will interview prominent African American authors and historians from Taylor Branch and Edward P. Jones to Jill Lepore and John Hope Franklin.
- MLB Home Plate (ch 175) will present the Negro League Baseball Museum's 7th Annual Legacy Awards on February 3rd (9am ET) and February 4th (11am ET), with additional encores airing every weekend throughout the month.

This is why I love Satellite radio. These are things you couldn't hear anywhere else. I'm actually programming my MyFi to catch the Wynton Marsalis piece this weekend.
