Apparently Entercom is real serious about not mentioning Sirius or XM on the air, because it's being reported that an afternoon talker was bleeped when mentioning the news about the companies yesterday.
According to Radio-Info, regionally syndicated afternoon talker Howie Carr was bleeped when reading the news about the DOJ's approval (from the Drudge Report apparently).
Carr supposedly was discussing the merger news on air, saying "Justice Department approves [EDIT]. That's good." Then later Carr said to his producer: "Did you cut that out? I can't report the news?"
More and more it's the corporate regulations - not the FCC mandated indecency regulations - that are crippling broadcasters from doing their job. This is a perfect example.

This is exactly what Opie and Anthony talk about on the FM side of the show...Its not an FCC rule its corporations that now determin what is free speech and not... Total bullshit
That is sad. Not much integrity, but that's no surprise to any observer.
Every news provider in the world is talking about the sat radio merger.. And WRKO sees the need to bleep XM and Serious radio? .. What a joke! Do they think their listeners don't read a newspaper, listen to other radio stations, watch tv or surf the web.. I bet they do.. LOL.... Cramer is right it's over for radio..

Howie Carr is one of the best talk jocks in the new England area. He would have broad appeal nation-wide. Very funny, very entertaining, very informative.
It may be time to make the move to SAT radio Howie !!
well its their fault they choose to be repetative, lame and out of style...i feel bad for the jocks with talent (only a few, most are cookie cutter formula anyway). and especially the ones lke this guy who gives you whats really going on in the news.! this must be the end of a joke we call FM radio

They also said all sat. radio talk on fm is dumped.
This, from the same Company that foisted Glenn Geffner on the world for the entire 2007 season of Red Sox Baseball on radio.
Just because the FCC says yes, doesn't mean they're going to love it.
If he runs out of dump, does a Van Halen song start playing? Linger longer!

Then Stern would lose his title of satellite broadcaster named Howie who most hates Imus.
Seriously, Carr definitely enjoyed the (albeit temporary...) fall of Imus more than Stern did.
Still, Howie Carr should go national on satellite. The entire continent needs to know about corrupt midgets.
Let's not forget that WRKO sister station WAAF (yes, the former home of O&A), despite running TV ads after Stern left mentioning that no subscription was required, still couldn't get their hack morning zoo past David Lee Roth on 'BCN, to say nothing of the return of O&A (and when you're a rock station whose morning show can't beat either Diamond Dave or O&A, you know you've got the hack des hacks!).
Though a look at the morning ratings in Boston would seem to indicate that Dennis & Callahan on the other Entercom AM station (WEEI) were the biggest winners when Stern left terrestrial (mirroring how sports morning shows like Mike & Mike did elsewhere).
watch you mouth howie...
