Bubba The Love Sponge: Is Something Brewing?
That's what AllAccess.com is speculating. According to the report, Bubba The Love Sponge was seen walking out of the Cox building in Tampa with several "suits" with him.
Two questions are being raised:
- Is Bubba leaving Sirius Satellite Radio?
- Or is Bubba pulling an "Opie & Anthony" and doing a dual-satellite/terrestrial radio show?
Oh the speculation!

Just another sign that O&A are failing. *rolls eyes*

You'd have to be an idiot to JUST stay on satellite radio. NOBODY will hear you or discover you like they can if you're on regular radio. I've never thought of it as Satellite vs. Regular radio. It really is Sirius vs. XM. You will see a lot more of what O&A did I'm sure. Bubba still stinks. Howard will be simulcast back on regular radio before his contract is up with Sirius.

Could this be what Op hinted about with Free FM on the weekends? If true Free Fm really is a shitty idea
Posted by: XMScott ? | October 17, 2006 4:25 PM
Are you kidding? If Stern goes back to regular radio no one will want to pay for Sirius...O&A did it because they didn't have enough pull to be exclusively on XM

bubba the love sponge is staying on sirius and the same for howard stern.
howard and bubba as said they having more fun on sirius then they had on basic radio.
basic radio is a shitty place to work and i know this since i used to do internetship at a radio station.
Posted by: michael | October 17, 2006 4:57 PM
i'll belive it when i see it.o&a were not the first onesto be on both.alot of left-right talk host and espn radio were the first.
Posted by: sternfan73 ? | October 17, 2006 5:24 PM
It's not the same kind of comparison. Talk radio hosts and ESPN are syndicated to satellite from terrestrial, not the other way around. O&A were the first to be exclusively on satellite, then syndicate back to terrestrial.
Posted by: theicepik ? | October 17, 2006 5:28 PM
o&a totally sold out. lets be honest guys. what once was great radio is now watered down, full of commericals and frankly not funny.
Posted by: salafi | October 17, 2006 5:37 PM
"O&A were the first to be exclusively on satellite, then syndicate back to terrestrial."
o&a fired as failures on fm, jobless with nothing going on xm was able to pick them up cheap. Silly xm thought making o&a a premium channel would bring in more money.. o&a failed as a premium channel, xm dropped the premium. o&a still failed to bring subs to xm. xm really has no use for talentless o&a but to get money from a desperate cbs radio for their unsellable lack of talent.
the only thing o&a, xm and cbs radio have in common is they all are deserate, and are failures.

O&A back on Free FM is like going back you your wolfbitch oldlady that blackened both your eyes while she threw you out of your own house. Talk about walking backwards to a house of cards! AHAHAHAHA
Posted by: NDKFTDIX | October 17, 2006 6:23 PM
Bob Edwards did it before O&A did it, i think.
And in the infamous words of the once great Howard Ster
"I dont even want to be in the same industry as a Bubba The Love Sponge"
Posted by: XMScott ? | October 17, 2006 7:04 PM
I hear that Bubba is buying the Cox Building.
Posted by: Rich ? | October 17, 2006 7:22 PM
Bubba being sued--probably his lawyers
Posted by: gary | October 17, 2006 7:26 PM
The reason the O&A deal is different is because they have 2 seperate shows now. All of the others are either simulcast on both or in the case of Bob Edwards, they take the best shows and play tapes on terrestrial on the weekends.
Im guessing this is more speculation that will go nowhere
Posted by: MarkS ? | October 17, 2006 7:37 PM
My speculation: Cox has brought a lawsuit against Bubba, and they're settling it out of court.
Posted by: realwx ? | October 17, 2006 8:17 PM
My speculation is that Bubba needed to use the bathroom and since he was in the area of the Cox building decided to that it was an approiate place to go.
And that was after he bought the Cox building and right before booking Bob Edwards and O&A for tomorrow's show.

cant beat mancow...cant beat imus...blames hosts that come on after them...

"Free FM blows. Go fuck yourselves Infinity Broadcasting . . . . Free means that it sucks" - O&A (beginning of 10/31/05 show)

He is working on a reality T.V. show that he has announced several times on-air.
Posted by: RyanWake09 | October 18, 2006 9:56 AM
Free radio does suck... but it promotes XM, makes them more money, and exposes them to a larger audience. In their XM show, they always say they hate FM
Why does it matter anyway.... Bubba sucks

Can't understand ratings? Sorry guys, I work in Media and O&A are doing fantastic, they are already #1 in most markets key demo's and are consistantly trending upward. Of course you're free to not like a show but there are millions more listening to them than granny Howie. We are a huge company and place nothing on Sirius. Advertising is easy to place on CBS. Just the facts.
Posted by: P | October 18, 2006 10:55 AM
Don't any of you listen to Sirius? Bubba is getting sued because a woman who was in studio doing some wild stuff is claiming Bubba forced her to do so against her will. Just like that pig incident, he's at risk of doing some jail time. Nobody gets in trouble on the air like this guy!
Posted by: Marty | October 18, 2006 11:26 AM
I think it's appropriate that Bubba is negotiating a deal to be on "Cox" radio. Right where he belongs.
Posted by: austin | October 18, 2006 11:39 AM
If Howard is so horrible, and noone wants to listen... Why is it Sirius is outselling and will shortly be passing XM in subs? OnA couldn't sell $1 premium memberships to people that already had XM, they couldn't sell subs for XM, even when they are on the "giant" free fm... Yet Howard sells millions of radios and subs in less than 1 year, changes the landscape of satellite radio completely, and sets the bar even higher for everyone in radio... yep, I would wanna get off that ship if I were Bubba.
Posted by: ExplainThisONA | October 18, 2006 7:52 PM
Can anyone say NEGOTIATION? Bubba does not have a 5 year deal in hand like Howard does. What better way to publicly show there *may* be other interest in him to better leverage his deal extension with Sirius. Anyone who has successfully negotiated a contract knows that a wanted man is a paid man.

P- Your right. O&A ratings in Philly are off the charts. WYSP is running really far back. They have a 2.3 share in the spring book and now a 1.9 or less.

My guess:
Sirius is not backin their boy #2 the way they should be and Bubba is saying, "Hey This is BS, I'm outta here." For those that have not read between the BLOGS, the radio show, and just the rest of the past few weeks.... Read this:
http://www.courttv.com/news/2006/1011/brooke_skye_ctv.html
Brooke Skye has sued Bubba and his team, as well as Sirius for some serious crap that I am sure Sirius is not happy with - hence Howard not warming up too closely lately with Bubba. It sucks, and I think Sirius should have done a better job backing their own. They will lose Bubba very shortly, he is the bastard red headed step child that is too BIG of a name to have a shot at Sirius as #2.
