Jackie "The Joke Man" Martling joining SIRIUS?

Monday, September 25, 2006 at 8:59 AM

Jackie Martling
Howard Stern's former sidekick, Jackie "The Joke Man" Martling, is rumored to be getting his own show on SIRIUS Satellite Radio.

Insiders say Stern will announce on his show next week that Martling will have his own program on Sirius, which "will debut mid-October," says a New York Daily News source.

Martling said through his rep he has "no news" about a new radio show just yet. If this were to be true, it would be a great move in my opinion. Jackie rules.

Rumor: Howard Stern Returning to Terrestrial Radio

Monday, September 18, 2006 at 1:37 PM

Howard SternAt least that's according to radio industry publication Inside Radio. Apparently there is word that a "mega-deal" is brewing between Sirius CEO Mel Karmazin, Howard Stern, and Chairman & CEO of Citadel Broadcasting Farid Suleman. Links to Inside Radio tend to have a short lifespan, so here's a snippet for your reading pleasure:

What’s with all the speculation about Howard Stern back on “the radio”?

The gossip continues to be that some sort of mega-deal’s brewing among Sirius chief Mel Karmazin, Stern, and Mel’s longtime associate Farid Suleman — who’s running Citadel and about to take over the ABC properties.

No other details are available regarding this, but Audio Graphics is thinking that Stern is destined to return to terrestrial airwaves.

UPDATE: And yes, and the 60 Minutes profile of Stern last night was a rerun.

SIRIUS Music Partner: Yahoo! Music

Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 5:41 PM

SIRIUS and Yahoo MusicGee, who saw this coming? Apparently the elusive music partner that will fulfill song purchases made off of the Sirius Stiletto is... wait for it... Yahoo! Music, according to sources familiar with the matter.

While not much of a surprise to us fanboys tracking this from Day 1, the Yahoo! Music partnership is nice to hear anyway. Back in February, Mel Karmazin mentioned that there will be "buy button" functionality for the Stiletto - since then we've been speculating who the partner will be.

Much like the XM+Napster partnership, Yahoo! Music integrated in the Stiletto will supposedly give the user the ability to "tag" a song heard and then allow them to purchase it (presumably when they get within WiFi range). More on this as information comes in...
