SIRI StockSIRIUS Satellite Radio just announced their record fourth quarter and full-year 2005 financial and operating results - and as expected, these are some real good numbers. Ending 2005 with 3,316,560 subscribers (a 190% year-over-year increase) and record net subscriber additions of 2,173,302.

For the fourth quarter, SIRIUS added 1,142,640 net subscribers, pushing SIRIUS to the market share leader position for satellite radio subscriber additions for the quarter, and a 138% increase over net subscriber additions in the year-ago quarter. SIRIUS' market share of satellite radio net subscriber additions was approximately 45% for full-year 2005 and approximately 56% for the fourth quarter.

April Horace on SIRI

Just as a report was released on XMSR, here's the report on SIRI (PDF). It includes thoughts about CFBE, Howard's effect on advertising, the end of the Content Wars and the question many are wondering about - SIRIUS' possible subscription rate hike:

"SIRI has stated that it has performed a number of price elasticity studies and that price points between $12.95 and $15.95 would not deter subscriber gains. While the street may applaud a price increase, we on the other hand would be more concerned about long term growth, increased competition from iPOD like devices, and perceived value when comparing cable/satellite subscription fees to satellite radio subscription fees."

Well said.
