SIRIUS Launches Xmas Music Channels Nov 24th

Sirius Holiday Music 

Sirius Satellite Radio will celebrate the holiday season with special Thanksgiving and Christmas music programming starting on Thanksgiving Day, November 24th.

Continuous Christmas music will be broadcast on two SIRIUS channels through Christmas Day, December 25: StarLite (ch 2) will play traditional and contemporary Christmas holiday music, and The Roadhouse (ch 62) will feature holiday country music.

Country Takes NYC with the CMAs

SIRIUS Satellite Radio will broadcast the 39th annual Country Music Awards (CMAs) being held in NYC for the first time this Tuesday, November 15th (UPDATE: I misread the press release, this entry has been updated to reflect the actual announcement).

SIRIUS will take listeners right into the backstage area of Madison Square Garden during the CMAs for exclusive artist interviews on Tuesday night, starting at 6 pm ET on channel 60, New Country

As part of the celebration of the Country Takes New York celebration of the CMAs taking place in New York, the legendary Grand Ole Opry will be broadcast from New York City's Carnegie Hall on Monday, November 14th. This special event, which also marks the Grand Ole Opry's 80th anniversary, will be broadcast on SIRIUS (which broadcasts every Grand Ole Opry concert) on its WSM / Grand Ole Opry channel, live at 8 pm ET.

Sirius Broadcasts NPR's World of Opera

This esteemed program brings listeners compelling performances from top American and international opera companies airs on NPR member stations across the US and on its web site - and now for the first time on satellite radio. On SIRIUS, World of Opera will be broadcast on Classical Voices.

The first World of Opera broadcast on SIRIUS will be the program's first-ever live opera broadcast. On Saturday, November 12th, starting at 1:30 pm ET, a new production of George Gershwin's classic American work Porgy and Bess will be presented by the Washington National Opera in celebration of this year's 70th anniversary of the landmark production.

Michael Feinstein (GRAMMY nominee and Gershwin expert) will co-anchor the live broadcast along with NPR'S World of Opera host Lisa Simeone. The broadcast will feature interviews with cast members and others involved in the special production, including Washington National Opera General Director Pl?cido Domingo.
