Michael Bolton Invades SIRIUS Satellite Radio

Michael Bolton, from Office SpaceNOT YOU! The other Michael Bolton. The successful GRAMMY-award winning adult-contemporary singer/songwriter will be taking control of SIRIUS Love (ch 3).

Tune in as Michael Bolton wil be playing his favorite love songs, as well as new music from his Bolton Swings Sinatra CD, on Thursday August 3rd at 5pm ET.

Replays will be available Saturday, August 5th at 12pm ET and Sunday, August 6th at 10pm ET.

Gamble & Huff to Guest Host New SIRIUS Show

Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff will guest host a new SIRIUS Satellite Radio program, Philly Brunch, which will spotlight artists associated with Philadelphia and songs connected to Gamble and Huff. The program will air on SIRIUS’ classic soul channel, Soul Town (ch 53).

Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff are co-architects of the “Philly soul” sound, as heard in songs by artists including Jerry Butler, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, the O’Jays, the Soul Survivors and Billy Paul, among others.

Philly Brunch will air on Sunday, August 6th at 12pm ET and will be a regular feature on Soul Town.

Jerry Garcia Commemorated on SIRIUS Satellite Radio

Jerry GarciaJerry Garcia was born on August 1, 1942 and died on August 9, 1995. To celebrate the life and legacy of this influencial musician, SIRIUS Satellite Radio will hold an 8-day commemorative special. Not Fade Away:  A Jam On Celebration of Jerry Garcia.

Starting on Tuesday, August 1st at 7am through Wednesday, August 8th, SIRIUS' Jam_ON (ch 17) will celebrate the 8-day period between Jerry Garcia's birthday and the anniversary of his death.

Friends, family members, former bandmates and other musicians, along with fans and SIRIUS listeners, will share their memories of Jerry Garcia, and Jerry’s music from the Grateful Dead, as well as his many side projects, will also be featured. Jam_ON's host Buddy Cage, who was a close friend of Garcia’s and replaced him in the legendary jam band New Riders of the Purple Sage, will also contribute.

Elvis Week 2006 on SIRIUS Satellite Radio

Elvis Radio on SIRIUSCan't make it to Memphis to partake in the enjoyment of Elvis Week? Well stop your crying, because Elvis Radio, SIRIUS' all-Elvis-all-the-time channel, will be covering the annual celebration from August 8th through August 16th to commemorate Elvis's death on August 16, 1977.

Hosted by George Klein (a close friend of Elvis's and regular Elvis Radio host), you'll get a slew of in-depth reports, celebrity guest DJs, and fan interviews throughout the week.

The event is punctuated with the annual Candlelight Vigil, where thousands of fans carry lit candles to Elvis's gravesite at Graceland.

Original MTV VJs Celebrate MTV's 25th Anniversary on SIRIUS

MTV1981. Ronald Reagan became president, the Delorean was born, mass quantities of yayo flowed over our borders, and of course, MTV launched on August 1st.

SIRIUS Satellite Radio will pay tribute to the historic impact that MTV has had on music and culture, with four of MTV's original VJs recalling the occassion on SIRIUS Big 80s (ch 8). SIRIUS' own on-air hosts - Mark Goodman, Nina Blackwood, Alan Hunter and Martha Quinn - will all celebrate the launch of MTV with a special two-hour show: Big '80s Celebrates MTV at 25.

The four will share their memories of MTV’s launch and play songs from the videos the then-new cable channel aired during its first few hours of existence. Goodman, Hunter, Blackwood and Quinn, along with the late J.J. Jackson, were the five original faces and voices of MTV when it debuted on August 1, 1981.

Big ‘80s Celebrates MTV at 25 will replay on August 1st at 4pm and at 9pm ET, and on August 2nd at 3am ET.

Jessica Simpson to host Weekend Countdown on Sirius

Jessica Simpson on SIRIUSJessica Simpson, will host a special “fashionably late” edition of the SIRIUS Hits 1 Weekend Countdown this Thursday, July 27th at 5pm ET.

SIRIUS Hits 1 Weekend Countdown features the 45 biggest songs based on SIRIUS Hits 1 airplay and listener requests, including Jessica Simpson's own new song, "A Public Affair," which comes in at #15 on this week’s countdown.

Tune is as Jessica has a blond-moment when she confuses the stated sexual preferences of rap star Nelly with pop star Nelly Furtado.

Sirius Salutes Historic Record Label, Sun Records

On Saturday July 29th, SIRIUS Satellite Radio will salute the legendary Memphis record label, Sun Records. Cowboy Jack Clement, Sun Records producer/songwriter and current SIRIUS Satellite Radio personality, will host How A Cowboy Made the Sun Rise as his tribute to the label. Clement started as a recording engineer at Sun Records in 1956 and became part of a musical revolution that signaled the birth of rock and roll.

On this anniversary of the death of Sun Records founder Sam Phillips, Cowboy Jack Clement will be playing music and sharing his first-hand recollections of working with Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash and many others. Clement will also air interviews with Jerry Phillips (Sam’s son), original label receptionist Sally Wilbourn, musical sidemen Roland James and J M Van Eaton, and author Peter Guralnick (Last Train to Memphis, Careless Love: The Unmaking of Elvis Presley).

How A Cowboy Made the Sun Rise will air on Saturday, July 29 from 2 to 6pm ET (and re-broadcast on Sunday, July 30 at 6pm ET) on SIRIUS Outlaw Country (ch 63).

Sirius to Broadcast The Who Press Conference

SIRIUS Satellite Radio will broadcast a special press conference by The Who from Berlin, on Thursday, July 13th, at 7pm ET on Sirius' The Vault (ch 16). The press conference will feature a performance by Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey, and upcoming tour dates are expected to be announced as well.

SIRIUS to simulcast Phish Film "Live In Brooklyn"

Phish "Live in Brooklyn" on SiriusTwo years ago, on June 17th, 2004 Phish performed one of their last concerts at Keyspan Park, Coney Island in Brooklyn, NY. The concert was simulcast live in theatres across the US on that night only, and the footage has not been shown since.

On Monday, July 10th at 9pm ET, SIRIUS Satellite Radio's Jam_ON (ch 17) will feature an exclusive simulcast of the one-night-only re-release of the Phish film, Live in Brooklyn, with intermission co-hosted by the official Phish archivist Kevin Shapiro.

The entire Phish film Live in Brooklyn will also be shown in high-def at selected theatres across the US on July 10th, day before Phish releases Live in Brooklyn as a 3-CD and 2-DVD set..
