Tony Stewart to broadcast live from Graceland

Tony StewartTony Stewart will be hosting his weekly NASCAR Radio show live from Graceland on Monday, May 12th.

Stewart and co-host Matt Yocum will host the show in front of a live audience at Elvis' home on NASCAR Radio (ch 128). As part of the show, Stewart will talk about the one-of-a-kind collection in the Elvis Presley Automobile Museum, which showcases more than 33 vehicles owned by Elvis including his famous Pink Cadillac, Harley Davidson motorcycles, the red MG he drove in the movie Blue Hawaii and more.

The two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion will also be as a guest DJ live on Sirius' Elvis Radio (ch 13) before going on "Tony Stewart Live." There he'll play a selection of his favorite Elvis songs.

"I can't sing and I can't act, but I do like Elvis' music and I can collect cars," said Stewart, who has more than 40 vehicles in his own collection.

The 50th annual running of the Daytona 500 on Sirius

The Daytona 500 will be turning 50 this year, and Sirius is airing comprehensive coverage of "The Great American Race" with the live race broadcast, plus multiple channels carrying in-car audio.

On Sunday, February 17th, Sirius will give 15 hours of live coverage of the 50th running of the Daytona 500 starting at 8am ET. Sirius NASCAR Radio (ch 128) will carry the race broadcast live nationwide (2:30 pm ET) and additional Driver2Crew Chatter channels will carry the in-car audio of NASCAR's top drivers.

Sirius will combine the race broadcast with the driver-to-crew chatter on the Driver2Crew Chatter channels, allowing fans to follow the overall race call and the in-car audio of a driver on a single channel.

Daytona 500Here's what subscribers can hear for this weekend's Daytona 500:

  • Live race call provided by Motor Racing Network - channel 128
  • Jimmie Johnson in-car audio - channel 122
  • Dale Earnhardt, Jr. in-car audio - channel 125
  • Tony Stewart in-car audio - channel 126
  • Jeff Gordon in-car audio - channel 127
  • Fan's Choice - channel 123 (Driver TBD)

The "Fan's Choice" channel will feature the in-car audio of a driver as voted on by the fan (go here to choose your favorite).

Sirius NASCAR Radio will also provide full coverage of the Gatorade Duels on Thursday at 1:15pm ET, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race on Friday at 7:30pm ET and the NASCAR Nationwide Series race on Saturday at 12:45pm ET.

In addition to NASCAR Radio being live from Daytona throughout Speedweeks with live infield action and in the "Fan Zone" atop the Cup garage; Sirius will also debut a new nighttime show during Daytona 500 week.

Entitled "Late Shift," the new show will be hosted throughout the year by Rick Benjamin and Buddy Baker and will premiere on Wednesday, February 13th (from 9pm to midnight ET) and air Wednesday and Thursday nights (8pm - 11pm ET after Daytona 500) throughout the year on NASCAR Radio.

The addition of "Late Shift," brings NASCAR Radio's programming schedule to a minimum of 15 hours of live talk every weekday.

Sirius increases coverage of the Super Bowl

Super Bowl XLII

Sirius will be increasing their coverage of Super Bowl XLII, with 12 live broadcasts featuring game calls in eight languages - up from the 11 broadcasts and seven languages from last year.

Sirius will also provide live day-long news and expert analysis every day of Super Bowl Week.

On Super Bowl Sunday, February 3rd, Sirius will air an expanded lineup of play-by-play broadcasts of Super Bowl XLII live from University of Phoenix Stadium. Among the 12 different game calls in eight languages, the local radio broadcasts of both the AFC Champion New England Patriots and NFC Champion New York Giants will also air.

  • Westwood One Radio broadcast - channel 124
  • BBC Radio broadcast - channel 125
  • Westwood One Spanish broadcast (Spanish-Latin America) - channel 181

Also, starting from next Monday through Super Bowl Sunday, Sirius NFL Radio (ch 124) will broadcast live every day from Radio Row in downtown Phoenix, providing news and analysis from a panel of expert hosts including Shannon Sharpe, Randy Cross, Tim Ryan, Pat Kirwan, Jerry Rice, Solomon Wilcots, Gil Brandt, Daryl 'Moose' Johnston, Jim Miller, Bob Papa, Adam Schein and Bryan McGovern.

On Tuesday, January 29th, Sirius NFL Radio will be live on Media Day with a slew of interviews with players and coaches from the New England Patriots and New York Giants.

Then the day before The Big Game, Sirius will have live coverage as the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2008 is announced at the Phoenix Convention Center.

Sirius Faction to broadcast live from 2008 X Games

Winter X GamesSirius Satellite Radio's Faction channel will be airing live comprehensive behind-the-scenes coverage of the 12th annual Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado.

Faction’s coverage will be hosted by former Olympic skier Carrie Sheinberg and Faction staples Bryan Cullen and Michael Tully, with commentary coming from eight-time Winter X Game medalist, extreme skier, Jon Olsson.

Tune in to Sirius Faction (ch 28) and hear the latest results, breaking news and exclusive interviews with winter sports superstars.

The wall-to-wall coverage starts on Thursday, January 24th and runs through Monday, January 28th.

Sirius' schedule for NASCAR Champions Week

As NASCAR comes to New York City to cap another season and crown the 2007 NASCAR Series Champions, Sirius Satellite Radio is providing listeners with access to the week's events, press conferences and parties - including the 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Awards Ceremony.

Starting on Wednesday, November 28th, during NASCAR's "Victory Lap" festivities in Times Square, Sirius will take listeners live inside Sirius on-air host Tony Stewart's #20 car as he and nine other drivers navigate their 850hp cars in a procession around midtown Manhattan.

The live cut-in will be part of the Sirius NASCAR Radio (ch 128) show "The Morning Drive," hosted by Marty Snider and David Poole. Snider and Poole will broadcast live from the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square from 7am - 11am ET Wednesday, where they will interview the NASCAR Chase drivers after they complete their "Victory Lap."

Then on Thursday, November 29th, Dave Moody will host "Sirius Speedway" live from the Aflac Fan Fest at the Hard Rock Cafe (3pm - 6pm ET) on Sirius NASCAR Radio.

Immediately following Sirius Speedway, Tony Stewart and Matt Yocum will announce the winners of the inaugural "Stewie Awards" during a special broadcast of "Tony Stewart Live" at Sirius' NYC studios (6pm ET).

On Friday, November 30th, Sirius will broadcast live from the Hard Rock Cafe hosted by 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Rookie of the Year Juan Pablo Montoya, Chip Ganassi, owner of Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates, and Sirius host and AP writer Jenna Fryer (11am ET on Sirius NASCAR Radio). Ganassi Racing driver Dario Franchitti, the 2007 IndyCar Series champion who will compete in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2008, will be a guest on the program.

On Friday night, Sirius' coverage will include a live broadcast of the 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Awards Ceremony at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York (7pm ET), where 2007 champion Jimmie Johnson will be feted among the sport's elite drivers.

Throughout the week, Sirius NASCAR Radio's intrepid reporter, Steve Post, will provide Sirius listeners with up-to-the minute reports and interviews from the week's events, parties and press conferences.

Sirius to cover the FIS World Cup ski season

FIS World CupSirius has partnered with the World Championship Sports Network (WCSN) to cover the international alpine skiing events during the 2007-08 FIS World Cup ski season.

The 2007-08 FIS World Cup season starts tomorrow, October 27th and Sunday, October 28 with the Men's and Women's Giant Slalom competition at Soelden, Austria.

Race coverage of Saturday's Women's Giant Slalom will air on Sirius channel 110 (CourtTV) starting at noon ET, while Sunday's Men's Giant Slalom will air on Sirius channel 151 (Chicago/St. Louis), also starting at noon ET.

The FIS World Cup features world-class American skiers ranging from Bode Miller and Julia Mancuso; to Ted Ligety and Lindsey Kildow. International men's and women's ski racing champions include Benjamin Raich (Austria), Didier Cuche (Switzerland), Aksel Svindal (Norway), and many more.

Sirius will provide coverage from top FIS World Cup stops in Kitzbuehel, Austria; Aspen, Colorado; Val d'Isere, France; Vancouver, Canada and St. Moritz, and Switzerland. Sirius will also cover the Men's and Women's Alpine World Cup Finals from Bormio, Italy in March.

Sirius to present Tony Stewart's "Stewie Awards"

The first annual "Stewie Awards," honoring the best, boldest and funniest moments of the 2007 NASCAR season will be awarded during a special live broadcast of Tony Stewart Live on Sirius NASCAR Radio (ch 128).

Tony Stewart, who the "Stewies" obviously borrows its namesake from, will present the awards during his weekly talk show at Sirius' New York City studios on Thursday, November 29th (6pm - 8pm ET) during 2007 NASCAR Champions Week.

Stewart and co-host Matt Yocum will announce the nominees in the 12 award categories on a future edition of Tony Stewart Live. Following the announcement of the nominees, fans can decide the winners by casting their votes online.

The 12 "Stewie Award" categories include:

  • Golden Stewie Award - Chosen by Stewart and Yocum and honoring a legendary driver from the Golden Era of racing (1960-85)
  • Best Duet - Honoring outstanding teamwork by a driver and crew chief
  • Best Original Drama - Honoring the year's most exciting race moment
  • New Kid on the Track Award - Honoring the year's most outstanding performance by a rookie
  • Best Stunt Sequence (Hal Needham Award) - Acknowledging the year's most spectacular crash
  • Best Original Comedy - Honoring the year's most entertaining on track "incident" or occurrence
  • Best Vocal Performance - Honoring the year's most memorable quote or sound bite
  • Best Engineering and Special Effects (aka the "Smokey Yunick Award") - Acknowledging the year's most creative - and ultimately illegal - modifications to a race car
  • Bonehead Move of the Year Award
  • 'I Got Dumped' Award - Acknowledging the year's most memorable on-track bumping
  • Best Driver2Crew Chatter Exchange - Acknowledging the year's most memorable driver-to-pit crew communication
  • Stewie Special Achievement Award

Sirius covering Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup

Sirius will being giving listeners comprehensive coverage of the 2007 Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, broadcasting all ten races live and airing in-car audio from NASCAR's top drivers as they compete for the coveted NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Championship.

Starting tomorrow, September 16th, Sirius will broadcast the first event of the Chase, the Sylvania 300 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race (1:15pm ET) live from New Hampshire International Speedway in Loudon, NH on Sirius NASCAR Radio (ch 128). For all ten Chase races, Sirius will provide the live race call on channel 128, plus ten additional Driver2Crew Chatter channels that will combine the race broadcast with the in-car audio of ten different race teams.

NASCAR Chairman/CEO on Sirius today

NASCARBrian France, Chairman and CEO of NASCAR, is scheduled to appear as a guest today on Sirius NASCAR Radio (ch 128).

France will be heard on "The Driver's Seat," hosted by John Kernan and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Terry Cooke, from 11:15 am - 12-noon EDT. "The Driver's Seat" airs every weekday from 11am - 1pm ET on NASCAR Radio.

France, Kernan and Cooke will preview the 2007 Chase for the NEXTEL Cup and take calls from Sirius listeners around the country.

Sirius launches new All-Sports Channel

Sirius Sports CentralSirius Satellite Radio is starting a new all-sports channel, Sirius Sports Central (ch 123), which will combine exclusive talk programing with Sporting News Radio programming and live game broadcasts.

Sirius already has sports-specific channels like Sirius NFL Radio, Sirius NASCAR Radio, and Sirius NBA Radio - but this channel brings together all the other pro and college sports into a single location.

There's the Tony Bruno Show which airs weekdays from 9am - 1pm ET on Sirius Sports Central. And other Sporting News radio programs including The Arnie Spanier Show (weekdays, 7 - 10pm ET), Todd Wright Tonight (weekdays, 10pm - 2am ET) and The David Stein Show (weekdays, 2 - 6am ET) also air on Sirius.

Sirius has also added several new exclusive sports talk shows to its weekday lineup on Sirius Sports Central such as Sirius Fight Club; The Sirius College Football Coaches Show; Sirius Presents the ABCs of Sports; and The Fantoo Girls.

The new programming joins existing programming on Sirius Sports Central that includes: The Mike & Murray Show; Rivals Radio; and Steiner Sports on Sirius.

Sirius also airs weekend programming from Sporting News Radio including: Golf World On Air with Mark Wood; Sports Saturday and Sports Sunday; and the motorsports talk show SNR's Inside Track

Additionally, every Thursday night throughout the NFL season, Sirius Sports Central will carry The Troy Aikman Show, hosted by the three-time Super Bowl Champion and Hall of Fame quarterback.
