Chrysler will be unveiling their next generation in-car entertainment starting with the 2007 Sebring sedan: MyGIG. TechnoRide got a up close look at the technology in NYC and have a very detailed writeup on it. Essentially, the system is based on an embedded MyGiG 20Gb HD.
Features include SIRIUS Satellite Radio with Real-Time Traffic, AM/FM radio, CD/DVD player, a 20Gb HD, a USB jack, line-in jack, two audio outputs, Bluetooth hands-free calling and a 6.5-inch touchscreen with voice control. The MyGIG 20Gb harddrive holds the navigation software (removing the need for a dedicated DVD drive like most nav systems).
Other features include the ability to rip CDs onto the HD directly in the car, plus the USB port lets you transfer music and pictures onto the unit. They could have sported for a little more than a paltry 20-gigger, but hey, it's one step closer to the "connected car" concept becoming reality.
The embedded SIRIUS Satellite Radio is a single chip in the radio, instead of a separate module, with real-time traffic reporting and the ability to route you around a traffic tie-up.
TechnoRide notes that the MyGiG 20GB HD will also initially be offered in the Dodge Nitro and Jeep Wrangler, before being spread across the model lineup of each brand.

"They have all these Hip-Hop stations, perhaps not realizing that the people who buy certain vehicles are mostly over 40 and not listening to uncut Hip-Hop 24 hours a day...So I was totally disapointed to see my SUV came with Sirius and not XM"
Micheal Wilbon of PTI said that. har har
Doesn't every Sirius/XM sub get real time traffic reports? I can just hit detour on my navigation if the route ahead of me is said to be blocked. On the otherhand a 20gig to rip cd's is quite nice in a car.
I have a PC Card slot in mine so i could put memory cards in with music but the HDD is much better.
I would also hope that a voice activation button is not only on the actual system but also on the wheel.
Plus how could Sirius real-time traffic work if a sub lives outside of a city that has a station for it.....lets say a small town for instance. Kind of pointless if it doesn't cover cities not included in their traffic report offerings.

the sirius Navtraffic (differnt from sirius "traffic and weather") is an additional fee of $3.99 if you are also a Sirius sub. if you live in a city not covered, dont pay the xtra money.
P.S. XM offers the same thing on Pioneer in dash Nav units. the tuner is $299.99 and the service is also $3.99 extra with XM service.
I didn't know Sirius ever got to the point where they even had a Navtraffic device. It's news to me to say the least.

Sounds EXACTLY like a Pioneer AVIC-Z1, except without the Ipod connection, back up camera CD Changer and XM support. Hooray, the automakers are only several years behind now, instead of a decade!
You guys are talking about the Satellite radio, but you're missing the point. 20 GB HDD! That means you can upload your pictures, your MP3 music, and there looks to be a place to enter in personal contacts (which may integrate with your cell phone via Bluetooth). So you don't have to remember CDs or your iPod on car trips. The Navigation system and Satellite radio are nice, but available on dozens of other cars. But only MyGig allows you to have a screen saver with your photos. This technology might just convince me to trade in my car to get it!
I am getting a new chrysler sebring with the mygig in it!!!!!!
my 08 dakota sport is gnna have it!!
