While I do not think it should matter since it is Satellite radio, I will say that there is a difference between dropping n-bombs in movies like pulp fiction or whatever and getting mad at a person and screaming it to thier face.

A few people have already mentioned that Bubba compares to a tree falling, so I'll leave that one alone. Here's the test, as I see it: were you trying to be funny? Racist, stupid, insensitive humor is bad humor. Race-baiting is less absolvable. Still, the question might be why there's a line at all rather than where it ought to be. We can all turn our radios to other stations... or in Bubba's case, leave them on the other stations they were already set to.

It's tempting to speculate that he gave up on his negotiations and wanted a way out that generated a few headlines. Imagine if Bubba had said, three times, "you f-cking n-gger". Would it have been more offensive? Less? (It's probably true that Bubba'd be in much hotter water at the moment than he currently is.)

I gotta say that I love the site (been a fan for a few years now), but this is the stuff that starts not only flame wars but starts the BIG media suits rallying against satellite radio. Imus did something wrong, but should not have lost his job. Same thing with Bubba. In my opinion, if the NYTs was reporting this and then people started jumping on the bandwagon discussing this issue, by all means report it. But don't start the conversation, because it could start a slippery slope where satellite radio is censored in the end.

You can pretty much get away with calling any group anything except for black people. That's because black people have such a huge reaction to the n-word. I'm black and I don't care about it when it's said as long as my check still clears. But alot of black people do react.

In other words, you're not going to see George Lopez and Carlos Mencia forming marches over this.
