XM Satellite Radio's Executive Vice President of Programming, Eric Logan, is leaving the company to take on a new role at Harpo Productions.
Logan served as EVP for programming and broadcast operations since August 2004, where he directed a staff of nearly 400 to build the XM platform.
In this newly-created role, Logan will oversee several divisions within Harpo including Harpo Radio, Harpo Print and Harpo Retail. Logan will also help manage the company's talent relations efforts, handling relationships with top-tier talent across all Harpo platforms. Additionally, he will help accelerate the company's expansion into digital and mobile initiatives.
Logan will begin his new role in mid-August.
Best of luck E-Lo, both personally and professionally, as you move on to the next phase in your career.

A tremendous loss to XM and to Greg and Tony. Nothing buffering G&T from Mel and hoohoo now.
I mean ELo had a G&T soundboard in his office. How cool is that.
Good luck, bro.
This is the end of the O&A show.
Good Luck ELo!!
If you need confirmation of the merger approval, add Lee and Logan to your list.
Mel isn't into fluff.
WOW.. all the uninformed Speculation here... insane just insane...
Hey.. what if XM was giving E Lo to Harpo in exchange for rights to broadcast Harpo radio to reduce expenses.
Hey.. it makes just as much sense as saying O&A are now unprotected from hoo hooo and Mel.
Mr. Logan and I have talked directly via email about sound quality on XM. He was that caring of a person; he tried his best to listen to customer's concerns.
His management approach and care toward delivering a quality product will certainly be missed.
Good luck, ELo!!!!!!!
So let me get this straigt:
Oprah and Friends is going to be listenable now, and programming in general for XM will stink to low hell?
The FCC better approve the merger soon before I drop the whole damn thing.
Is this the guy who claimed that O&A were the number one most listened to show on XM?
since E-LO is leaving what will happen to SAM and SAM show on saturdays?
It is devastating news, but, seriously, we all saw this coming. O&A always win in the end, and they have not said YMB yet, so, we just have to wait and see.
My congrats to E-Lo, he was the best!
Hahaha Opie and Anthony are done. This is great.
awwww crap...
This is a signal for every one of those 400 employees at XM to GET THE FUCK OUT. Seriously. The first people to see the axe coming are the ones at the top.
why couldnt it be Jon Zellner who was leaving instead
I still say cash Flow break Even at 4.5 million subs.... E-Lo is a rat jumping the ship... GET BACK here Eric!
SELL OFF YOUR LIQUIDITY AND PUT ALL YOUR HIGH END DERIVATIVES INTO THE PLASTICS MARKET! THIS IS COMMON SENSE, PEOPLE!
Good riddance--he feigned "getting" XM for a while, and then he hired Jon Zellner and Steve Kingston.
Thanks for ruining the service E.Lo--and look where it got you...
This is good news, Sirius really dont need Gay looking employees working for them.
"This is good news, Sirius really dont need Gay looking employees working for them."
Then they better get rid of Bubba
WhooWhoo ,Fred get over here and service me this is great news.
((xm)) is done without E-lo. When O&A go so do my 4 subs!
good ridence to O & A, they are screwed now
Now finally we can see that Opie and Dopey are done for. I say its the reason I left XM and will come back when these idiots are gone for good.
And to think i didnt think it could possibly get worse than 0.0
Ironic, E-Lo was a PD for Country radio stations in Seattle, San Francisco & Chicago -- plus an Operations Manager in Tampa -- all for Infinity between 97 and 2002. Who was the Sr. VP of Programming for Infinity during most of that time? John Gehron, who was/is a well known Chicago programmer. He was one of the people that E-Lo worked for at Infinity.
Gehron left Infinity at the end of 2001 and spent some time working for Clear Channel in Chicago... he then split and became the GM at Harpo Radio in 2006.
Gehron will now be reporting to Logan.... go figure. Makes me wonder if Gehron helped Logan get the gig back there in Chicago?
-
Did E-LO find out he got a new job by reading it on Orbitcast?
First Lee Abrams; then E-LO. The writing is on the wall. Good thing we still have Parsons. Blech.
O & A, ITS OVER JOHNNY
O & A, ITS OVER JOHNNY
good riddance, ya' drunk! Ron & Fez noon to three.
Thanks for all the (HICCUP) Kind words, (HICCUP) fellas. I (GLUG GLUG GLUG) really appreciate it.
Hopefully, (HICCUP) Harpo won't notice my (HICCUP) whiskey breath in the morning.
May have to switch to vodka....
Do you Stern people realize you probably need "Opie and Dopey" to hang around at least for a little while after the merger. Despite what you Siruis people think, they had a sizable subscription following. I can only see these people departing in droves. i.e. bad for satellite radio as a whole.
Well, there goes the last bastion of hope that XM wouldn't suffer from the merger. Unless the FCC somehow goes against it, which is seeming less and less likely, then it looks like Mel's gonna ruin the place.
Good Thing We Still Have Jon Zellner!!!!!!!! Oh Wait.. Beyond AM.. Beyond XM... The New XMFM Radio.
((xm)) is done without E-lo. When O&A go so do my 4 subs!
ATTN: ALL MY BITCHES!!
TALK LIKE THIS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!! NEED I REMIND YOU ALL YET AGAIN TO STICK TO THE SCRIPT THAT HAS BEEN PROVIDED TO YOU.
REPEAT AFTER ME!!!
"A MERGER IS IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST, IT WILL PROVIDE MORE CONTENT. MORE DIVERSITY, AT LOWER PRICES.
Thank you for your continued assistance whilst we prepare the post-merger petition paperwork.
In the mean time.. I require ALL MY BITCHES, to continue writing more comments to the FCC using more aliases. At least 3 each day. And don't forget those phone calls.
I will be rich once I can get this thing bankrupted and cut myself in on a nice slice of ownership in a debt free entity. Unfortunately for ALL MY BITCHES. Well,, you are gonna get exactly what you have coming....
And so it goes,

E TO THE LOW - E-LOW LOL. ARE YOU BRINGING YOUR SOUND MACHINE WITH YOU? HAHAHA. ALWAYS HEARD YOU ON OPIE AND ANTHONY........ BEST OF LUCK :)
E TO THE LOW - E-LOW LOL. ARE YOU BRINGING YOUR SOUND MACHINE WITH YOU? HAHAHA. ALWAYS HEARD YOU ON OPIE AND ANTHONY........ BEST OF LUCK :)
Yesterday on the O&A show he said everything was looking really good from where he was sitting.. well now we know why.. all he is doing is looking out for number one.. and you know while this may look like the Titanic, the rules aren't the same... it's not "women and children first", it's "every man for himself".. he's leaving a sinking ship and he didn't promise the guys anything yesterday and now we know why.. the new guy (Mel) will let their contract expire.. he's saying he believes in competition but won't worry about it with Howard, that's all there will be.. no O&A, the clear channel talk shows will be gone as well... just Howard and his blowhard stable of old A.M. crap.. yipee Satellite radio will truly suck then..
I guess it is sign of thins to come.
its over jhonny
My guess is that it is a sign of things to come.
E TO THE LOW E- LOW................... ARE YOU BRINGING YOUR SOUNS MACHINE WITH YOU? HAHAHALOL. GOOD LUCK TO YOU MR. LOGAN, IT WAS ALWAYS A PLEASURE HEARING YOU ON THE OPIE AND ANTHONY SHOW. YOU WILL BE GREATLY MISSED. GIVE OPRAH A CAR CRASH!!!!!

Not to worry,, O & A can always get a new job at the competing SDARS entity.. Uhhh!! Ohhh!! I forgot.. There won't be a competing SDARS entity anymore.
Well, I guess they could always try to get on the Georgetown Partners "Diversity Channels" LOL!!
But, I keep forgetting the script, it's all in THE PUBLICS INTEREST.
The Karma monster is comin' folks. Are you prepared?
And so it goes,
PCSTEL
E-Lo did manage to build up XM and to present relevant talent on the talk channels. sirius started out with nothing and other than Steve Van Zant and Jim Breuer still offers no talent on the talk channels. Karmazian also will add tons of commercials that not help lower the costs either .

This sucks.
Good luck E-Lo.
Lee Abrams and Eric Logan were the main reason the XM music stations were considerably more popular than their SIRIUS equivalents. The loss of Eric is a major loss to those who hoped the XM music stations would survive the merger redundancy cuts.
According to rumblings at the NYRMB, XM Producer Earl Douglass will temporarily assume the duties of Executive Vice President of Programming until the merger becomes finalized at which time SIRIUS EVP Jay Clark will take the reins.
Good luck, Bro!

hoo hoo we invented last place!
enjoy your "boys" at 3am, after the fourth replay of bubba.
ROFL
did O and A talk about this today? I missed the show but will catch the replay
I read here that E-Lo is a key factor in the music programming awesomeness of XM. If Lucy changes in any way, shape, or form because of E-Lo's departure, and if O&A get dropped, I have no reason to have XM. It's looking bad. Looks like my Sirius sub will be the one staying.
I saw this posted on PR WEEK ...WOW a barnburner....
http://www.prweekus.com/Positive-signs-emerge-in-XM-Sirius-union/article/112192/
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You assume the FCC is capable of making a decision. You further assume that the FCC is in charge of the FCC when it isn't.
The keys to the FCC have been given to Congress by Mr. Martin long ago. He takes his marching orders from them, and they (Congress) takes their marching orders from the NAB.
Consider that while Sirius and XM have waited 504 days (and counting) for a merger approval that the Exxon deal was done in 380. Consider further that Congress has funded 200 MILLION tax payer dollars for the promotion of HD radio (that is a pet project of NAB) and ironically now call for Sirius and XM to install an HD chip in future satellite radio equipment which is preposterous.
Make no mistake that Senator Kerry, Leahy, McCaskill, Dorgan and Brownback say HOW HIGH when the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) say JUMP!!!
"did O and A talk about this today? I missed the show but will catch the replay"
Yeah they did for a while. They're bummed, but happy for him. People who don't know E-Lo or feel the need to bash him because he was buddies with O&A should know he was not only a boon to the company but a pretty funny and personable guy on the air. He was also very receptive to fans and would interact with them well. He will be missed.
The loss of Eric is a major loss to those who hoped the XM music stations would survive the merger redundancy cuts.
Redundancy cuts?? I thought there was going to be MORE choices post-merger???
Can they get rid of those "Clear Channel" non-commercial free music channel obligations??
Probably not. So Siriius subscribers go from 100% commercial-free music, to partially commercial-free music. Are they gonna get a discount on their subscription rate? I don't think so.
After all, if you already have 2 or 3 commercial infested channels.. who is going to notice 5 or 6 more commercial infested channels.
The Golden Age of Satellite Radio is nearing sunset.
The Karma monster is taking notice. Don't be surprised when it decides to camp out in your backyard.
And so it goes,
PCSTEL
not a great loss - good sound quality, but crappy content. how do you botch a decades channel? just ask eric - he seems to have the magic formula. can't wait to listen to sirius first wave over an xm receiver...

I love how you Stern Fans actually listen and back Bubba because he tells you too. There is a reason we call you all "ZOMBIES". As a former Zombie I use to hate everyone he said to also without giving them a chance, but then 1992 was over and I realized I was listening to the SMAE SHOW EVERYDAY. Talk about Arties Night or weekend, take a break, Play a Prank phone call and song parody, take a break, Talk to Eric the midget, take a break, get a stripper or a pornstar in, take a break, more phoney FAKE phone calls, take a break, Robins news, leave for the day and howie is off to the Hamptons to hang out with everybody he use to make fun of.
After the merger and O & A are still there and Howie Tells you that they are Ok(because he's a company man) you will all listen and enjoy, And I know that you all will say "NOT ME...NEVER will I listen to that crap", But you listen to Bubba dont ya? After all of the Bubba bashing you all drank the koolaid and jumped on board with Him didnt ya?O & A always win in the end.
Thanks E Lo have your sound board as your parting gift. YOUR MOMS BOX
Too bad the rest of management isn't going with him!!!
Too bad the rest of this sorry ass management team isn't going with him!!!!
O&A exit xm as of today
The brain drain continues as this company continues to disintegrate right before our eyes. By the time Karmazin runs it into the wall and finishes it off, there won't be anything left of it. It's a shame, but there is little doubt that the company's best years are far behind it now.

You said it Brother, I agree
Too bad the rest of this sorry ass sirus management team isn't going with him!!!!
If they somehow don't renew Opie and Anthony post-merger than I get to save money by cancelling XM and getting a Slacker Portable unit which has no monthly fee and craps all over XM and Sirius in the music department.
Go ahead XM - PLEASE get rid of O&A and help me save some money........
One more Gay XM exec out the door. Now Opie and Anthony (The two gay blades) and Ron and Fez the other dynamic queer duo need to hit the bricks.
Why are you Howie faggots even reading this XM news? Is it because your beloved Howard has Yet another 2 weeks off in a row and there is nothing else to do? Stern takes more time off than any other radio show in history. Dont worry he will be back to work another 4 day work week while planning his next vacation without giving a fuck about any on of you! You do realize he is Calling it in and collecting a paycheck at this point dont you?
I owned Sirius for about 6 months and got a horrible signal that was never fixed and when it did actually come on I had to hold the antenna out the window to hear it. When it did work I heard the SAME SHOW every day. You have to agree with that Stern Zombies!!! You do agree that its a replay day by day. you get 5 hours of the day before (except for fridays) you have to admit that. I'm not saying O & A are doing ground breaking shit, but atleast there show is different everyday.
Good luck man! At least you got off the ship while it was hit, and not after it sank.

They need to leave, And find a better media. The fans will follow. Let sat. radio run itself into the ground. Well, I mean further than it already has.
At this point, should the merger fail, XM has lost its most critical talent -- Abrams, now ELO, and who know what fine engineers have jumped ship and other personnel.
XM's management has totally rolled the dice on this merger and if it fails they will be in the position of having to line up an entirely new management team. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Terrible, terrible, terrible. XM is so done. As said today on O&A its not a merger, its a take over. Knew this would happen.

I begin to wonder if Eric Logan was behind the departure of Heidi Selexa and Bruce Kelly from XM's 80's channel .
It will be a pleasure for Opie and Anthony to be thrown out on their duffs. They have destroyed XM and should be held accountable.
Yeah man. And they won't last a month on FM...wait..it's been over 2 years.....Bababooey, bababooey...bababooey.
This is really really sad. I always loved when E Lo was on - very funny, very personable.
This also means O&A are done for on satellite.
Probably better anyways, I've started to stop listening to them over the past couple of weeks (having been a superfan 5-6 hours a day since their first day on XM). Same old tired jokes, repeating the same stories. I only listen to the XM side now, but if I miss a day, no big deal.
Opie and Dopie...0.0...they won't last a month...Babbabooey...let's see...they're finally done...this is great...
Have I covered them all? Zombies spewing forth the *same* shit on *every* single post no matter what. This has absolutely got to be the work of at least 1, if not 2 extremely bored individuals. What happened Zombies, running out of snappy comebacks? The reality of the situation is that O & A's future is probably questionable on XM, but isn't almost everything because of this whole deal? Some channels are gonna stay and some aren't. The Opie and Anthony show, or any other show for that matter isn't going to leave just cause you were told by your half-jew boy not to like them. they're going to survive on ratings and popularity alone. If they leave Sat radio and find another medium, the fans will follow. and since you're all fans of the old lady you'll be too busy listening to him to care anyways. This is really no big deal. Yeah it sucks that Elo left but that's life people. Try and deal with it if you can.

The brain drain continues at XM. Lee Abrams, Eric Logan, are just a couple of the folks that left the company because they saw the writing on the wall. In the sales and marketing group, VPs have come and gone, including ones that actually understood the car market. So, who comes in, Nate Davis, Vernon Irvin, Nextel people galore, phone designers in the product design - No matter how much XM wants to be as relevant as AT&T and Verizon, it continues the Nextel tradition of failure and foolish spending.
What made this company strong has left; there was a time when XM didn't have subscribers or customers, it had FANS. No longer. Too bad.
Merger. No merger. What's the difference. Add a new radio to the lineup that destroys value for existing radios. It's not the hardware, its the originality. The originality is gone.
My guess is that 1500 Eckington Place must be a miserable place to have to go to every morning. Especially when you have to look at bloated management types that actually believe they are capable of righting this ship.
XM - you ain't no Apple and Nate you're no Steve Jobs. I just returned from the Apple store in the Natick mall outside of Boston where I stopped while I was in Boston on business - On a Wednesday afternoon, the traffic and excitement in that location far exceeded the interest I have ever observed about XM or Sirius in Circuit City or Best Buy.
No compelling content; no energy. C'mon XM play to win or just give up.
holy shit you assholes are morons. as usual.
I hope that Gregg and Tony get to stay at XM because I enjoy them (Howard's good too, though).
However, as long as I have Ron and Fez (noon to 2:30ish), I will be as happy as alcohol makes Dave.
One high paid exec that won't get a buyout when the merger happens. Good news.
E-LO; please be sure to give us all a fond farewell YMB before you leave. O&A are the only reason I sub... Howard the Hack and the lack of O&A will be enough to make me leave. Glad to see you got in on some uh dat yummy Oprah $$$$$. See ya later alligator
they say yes to the merger on
july 10th 2008
I'm not loyal to either, but I can't see how Howard can get a new deal worth even half what this one was worth. Expensive contracts like that are why Sirius needs the merger. Had Stern delivered the numbers they expected, they wouldn't be in this mess.
Expensive contracts like that are why Sirius is in the merger drivers seat and E-blow is looking for work somewhere else. If E-blow hired people with talent he wouldn't need to jump ship.
