FCC's Next Meeting: Satellite Radio's Impact on Terrestrial

The FCC
The FCC will be tackling the issue of Satellite Radio's impact on Terrestrial Radio at their next meeting. The agenda for the FCC Open Hearing includes the item"Digital Audio Broadcasting Systems And Their Impact On The Terrestrial Radio Broadcast Service" - scheduled for next Thursday, July 13th.

The NAB has been voicing constant opposition to satellite radio, from stating that satellite should be subjected to indecency regulations (because of the free trial subscriptions) to saying that satellite hasn't been honest in staying as a 100% national service. This meeting will gives the NAB the opportunity to press its case, but the FCC has historically been pro-satellite because they tend to favor new services.

This should be interesting.

I hope Sirius and XM will be there to counter every BS argument the NAB puts out there.

Wait a minuite here! The NAB is crying foul over Sirius and XM not exactly being a national broadcaster yet Clear Channel, Westwood One and all the rest of these NAB members opperate 100's of stations covering the Country. I think their argument is a bit weak.

I hope the NAB makes asses out of themselves at the hearing.
"yes, we've heard all those arguments, do you have anything new? If not, you may step down."
"Uhh...uhh.......
SATELLITE RADIO CAUSES AIDS! AND ONLY TERRESTRIAL RADIO IS THE CURE!!!"

They can't censor satellite radio without censoring the Playboy cable channel, or HBO and Showtime, Blocbuster Video, as well as books and magazines.

The NAB is worried that 11 million listners have deserted testicle radio.

Long live uncensored radio.

...and this is why XM and Sirius fanboys bashing each other is a waste of time. Both companies need to do well ...fight the real enemy...FM and NAB.

Should the FCC look into the impact of Cell phones on landline phones?

Simple fact: The NAB thinks it's the president of media and thinks it has control of satellite radio. It's not that way. What will the NAB do next to embarass themselves?

What will the NAB do next to embarass themselves?
See my last post for my lil' scenario.

this is the exact reason we need to stop all of this stupid in-fighting about what's better XM or Sirius, O&A or Howard Stern, blah blah blah. I have seen that the O&A fans and Stern fans are some of the most dedicated and driven people for their cause ever. just imagine if we could put that kind of strength together and stand up to these assholes in defense of satellite radio in genearal, it would be unstopable. anybody up for giving this idea a shot?

Unlike the balance of government, I hope the FCC understands the appreciation and value that the average Joe places in satrad.
