Former Senator Donald W. Riegle, Jr. has come out in support of U.S. Electronics' proposal for an "open device" condition in the proposed merger between Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. and XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc."The proposed condition... is critical to protecting consumers and fostering innovation by allowing open and fair competition," writes Riegle in a letter to the FCC. "I believe that the proposed merger should not be approved without inclusion of such a condition."
Riegle served in the U.S. Senate from 1976 through 1994 and in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1967 through 1975.
In April 2001, Riegle joined APCO Worldwide, a public affairs and strategic communications firm, as its Chairman of Government Affairs. The Government Affairs arm of APCO helps "support clients and their solutions with elected leaders and government officials."

What, he needed a paid vacation from the USE? What credibility does this guy have?
Another day, another old retired voice chiming in. Who will it be tomorrow? This is really getting old. Looks like this charade will never end.
Wow- a retired senator. Almost as authoritative as those paid hookers at US Electronics.
He looks tech savvy, eh? Probably another Strom Thurmond who didn't even know who Microsoft was. I'm sure he really knows what open device is........
If you read what APCO does they are just lobbyist who are obviously working for US Elctronics. They run public relations for companies that want to get something done. Wow!!! It's amazing how the media twists words to make it seem like he is a respectable person in this situation instead of a paid cheerleader!
