Former chairman and CEO of Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. Joe Clayton has joined the board of EchoStar, the company said Thursday.
Clayton was appointed to EchoStar's board following the recommendation of the company's Nominating Committee. He will serve on the Board's Audit, Nominating and Compensation Committees.
"We welcome Joe to our board," EchoStar CEO Charles Ergen said in a prepared statement. "He brings a great deal of executive-level experience in the satellite industry and we look forward to working with him as we grow our business."
Clayton resigned as chairman of Sirius back in August to make way for Gary Parsons, who took his place as chairman of Sirius XM Radio Inc.

Well, if there's one thing Joe knows a lot about, it's compensation.
Pretty amazing. The guy pockets millions and millions as he totally destroys satellite radio - and I mean both companies - and here he is again, back at the corporate trough.
Whose fault is that? Not Claytons, he is just taking advantage of the situation. Its the board, just like all the other companies in the country that are screwing the investors.

Wonder if we will see some connection between the merged company and Echostar integrating with backseat. Why would he go to echostar? When do these millionaires retire?????
I would say it would be a "natural" buyout target for either Direct TV or Echostar. Both have the expertise in the satellite bussiness, and they could most likely be able to cut costs, by launching multiple satellites for BOTH TV and RADIO. Plus they are better at marketing the satellite bussiness also. Mel would not sell cheap though, and I'm sure he would want to say on and run the show, too.
Time to short Echostar
Maybe Echostar will have a Pamela Anderson Car Wash or a $2 Million Giveaway.
