From the rumor mill: Pioneer developing Sirius' own "Inno"?

Sirius Inno?Pioneer has been slowly snuggling up to both XM and Sirius recently. So it doesn't come as not much of a surprise that rumor has it that they're developing their own wearable receiver just for Sirius.

With their latest uber-headunits (like the AVIC-D3), not to mention their dual-service-loving A/V receivers, Pioneer definitely has been playing both sides of the fence. Even the AVIC-Z2 sports both Sirius/XM support.

But unfortunately, there's little additional that this tipster can reveal. All that is known is that Pioneer is working on a device "similar to the Inno" (whatever that means) for Sirius.

So there you go. Wallow in that speculation for a while.

Hopefully this will be a decent Sirius portable because Sirius is pathetic when it comes to portable units. I have 3 Sirius subs and have been dying for a anywhere near decent portable.

As a Sirius sub, I welcome this rumor with open arms. The Stiletto is way overpriced for it's feature set. I'd love to have an option in the portable Sat Radio receiver space for Sirius.

Ultimately, my top priority is reliable reception. I've only heard mixed news on all portable Satellite receivers in this regard. I'd think both companies will look to improve this going forward. A merger might help...

Given the fact that XM's R&D developed the Inno and Pioneer built it, I doubt it will be a Sirius Inno; however, it all depends on any type of exclusivity agreement. I don't see Pioneer or any of the major electronics companies spending the R&D dollars on these units. If Sirius is subsidizing it, that's one thing -- but I'm sure it won't be the same as the Inno.

Until SIRI can do something about its lousy reception (presumably, the new satellite next year will solve it), I'm not sure how repackaging the Stiletto helps the situation.

iband: I'd have to agree. Like most rumors, the details are completely lacking.

I wonder if this would be a precursor to pioneer building the inter-operable reciever -or- the merged XM/sirius reciever. That may come around sooner than we think, who knows.
