Garth Brooks Radio
Sirius is handing over the reins of Prime Country (ch 61) - Sirius' 80s and 90s country music channel - to country music superstar Garth Brooks.

Garth Brooks will takeover Sirius channel 61 for two week and feature Garth Brooks' music with intros by the artist himself. Brooks will also play some of his favorite tunes and discuss what each means to him.

It's all in celebration of the release of Brooks' new 3-disc set, The Ultimate Hits. The 3-disk pack features 30 Garth classics, 3 new songs and a bonus track on 2 CDs, plus a DVD with 33 videos including new and never-seen-before footage.

Garth Brooks Radio will air from November 5th through November 18th. Hear a few samples from Garth Brooks Radio here.

ANOTHER artist only channel?!?!?!

It’s only for 2 weeks, and he will not just be playing his own music. It says he will also play some of his favorite tunes and discuss what each means to him.

It looks like it’s a you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours deal; Garth Brooks gets his Ultimate Hits album plugged and Sirius gets a celebrity guest DJ for two weeks.

actually he counts as 2 artists because of the whole chris gaines thing. smart move by sirius.

I hope the bonus track is A balliad

If the merger goes through I pray the XM guys control the music. If it's Sirius and Mel I'm gone when Howard's done

It's a marketing ploy by Garth....just like 2 years ago, he has another greatest hits album coming out right before the holiday shopping season. 2 years ago, it was a "Limited Series" box set (if I remember correctly, it was an exclusive thing with WalMart). Outside of about 2 new tracks.....the same songs that were on that album 2 years ago will be on this new one coming out. In other words, this album could be called "Songs I'm Going To Make You Buy For the Millionth Time with Some New-Old Stuff That Hasn't Been Released Before That I Will Probably Repackage In Another Form At Some Point In The Future"

It's also a marketing ploy by Sirius. Steve Blatter feels that single artist channels help customers identify with the service.

I'm surprised that "Garth Brooks Radio" isn't going on until the end of the year.

Garth's music and his voice bring smiles to my face. All I can say is I'm terribly disappointed that it will only last 2 weeks. Just in case you check these postings...WELCOME BACK GARTH! You have been missed.

I enjoyed every minute of the program and yes, you are missed.
