Gayle King is no longer exclusive to Satellite Radio

Oprah and Gayle KingOprah's BFF Gayle King, and trusted medical guru Dr. Mehmet Oz, are no longer exclusive to the satellite radio airwaves thanks to a deal inked with terrestrial radio broadcaster Westwood One.

"Today marks an exciting new day for Harpo Radio," said former-XMer Erik Logan, now President of Harpo Productions, Inc.
Last week news came out that The Gayle King Show was to be extended on Sirius XM, but it appears the extension didn't stop there.

Gayle's daily two-hour talk show - plus a new, five-hour weeknight entertainment program called Gayle King Evening - will air across Westwood One's 5,000 affiliate radio stations.

Westwood One will also distribute a short-form daily feature from Dr. Mehmet Oz plus a long-form three-hour weekend program, with content from Gayle King, Dr. Oz and other Harpo Radio programs. These programs will also be streamed on Westwood One's affiliates' websites.

Eric (Erik?) Logan left as the EVP of Programming of XM back in July 2008 where he joined up with Harpo Productions under a newly created role. Logan was at XM for nearly four years where he directed a staff of 400 at XM.

Logan added, "We are delighted to be joining forces with one of the nation's largest and most esteemed radio providers and look forward to a longstanding relationship."

Gee...

NO WONDER Oprah did absolutely nothing to promote her own channel, for which she has already been paid, on SIRIUS-XM!

I knew the rumor was true, and this paparazzi money shot proves it; RuPaul and Mike Tyson are an item!!!

E-Lo is a Benedict Arnold. I hope his next Starbucks burns his tongue.

Who gives a shit! Who gives a fuck!

Maybe these leeches won't be renewed and the company can save $55 million and maybe pay some talent.

You people wanted Mel Karmizin instead of Hugh Panero . Now suffer .

These BFF (Big Fat Frauds) look like two Haitian looters escaping in a get away car! Think of what could be done for the abysmal music programing if they didn't SQUANDER $55,000,000 on these two beasts. Way to have the subs & shareholders best interest as a top priority, Melvin.

I don't know what they are paying that dopey domestic diva Martha Stewart, but that's another disastrous decision by the SXM "braintrust."

And to think that I have to hear the same song on Sirius played 3 times a day; what a joke!

Thieves!!!

This is fantastic! Now people listening to terrestrial radio can join Sirius/XM listeners in not giving a shit about Gayle King.

BTW, thanks to that photo, I now know what bring "Oprah's BFF" means: you get to chauffeur her around Chi Town.

Why do they have to look like 2 haitians.

Logan never had any class. He cut himself a sweetheart deal before the merger closed rather than stick around to try to help all his people. A self-centered asshole...

Here was my logic: there was an earthquake in Haiti. There are a lot of Haitians living there. After earthquakes, looting usually ensues. So earthquake + Haitians + looting = a high probability of looting Haitians. I was never a math wiz, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Sirius XM has a pattern of paying far too much, on a per-listener basis, for its talent. This is one way to fix that without the public relations black eye of losing content entirely. I would not be surprised if something along these lines is a feature of Howard Stern's new contract.

Are you stupid? Karmazin isn't the guy who gave Oprah that sweetheart deal that pays her $55 million for next to nothing, it was Erik Logan, who left Sirius/XM after the merger, and (as this article points out) now works for Oprah... maybe that was a payoff for the $55 million he gave away to Oprah.

It's the idiots who used to rum XM who almost killed satellite radio, not Mel Karmazin.
