GM expands its Pause and Play Radio feature

Pause and Play RadioGeneral Motors is expanding its Pause and Play Radio feature to be accessible on lower-end vehicles.

Much like a built-in DVR, Pause and Play Radio lets you pause live radio, including XM Radio.
It's already an available feature on GM models like the Buick LaCrosse, Chevy Equinox, GMC Terrain and the Cadillac SRX and the Cadillac CTS (it actually debuted on the CTS). Now Pause and Play Radio is being made available on the Chevrolet Cruze and the 2011 Buick Regal (pictured below).

Pause and Play Radio allows you to save up to 20 minutes of audio in the vehicle's embedded hard-drive. That's fairly common functionality that has been available on many satellite radios for quite some time.

The neat thing is that the time-shifting capability remains even when the car is turned off. So you can be listening to a baseball game on XM, pause the live broadcast, turn off the car and refuel - only to hop back in and resume from where you left off.

GM hasn't said so, but it's safe to assume that this feature will expand to other vehicles.

I hope Ford is close behind a la a firmware upgrade. Hell give the large hard drive I hope they could make recording available.

I've got a 2010 Equinox and the XM Radio experience is fantastic. Didn't even know about the pause/play feature when I bought it.

Gives you full readout of the XM song/artist data, pause/play as noted above, great sound as well.

Highly recommend!

Thats cool, But GM still "BLOWS!" And you would have to be an idiot to buy 1.

Nice. I sat in an Equinox at an auto show recently. They had power for the accessories turned on, and XM did sound excellent. Very impressive vehicle overall, as well.

That's a pretty cool feature. I've gotten some weird looks sitting at a gas station waiting for a bit to end on Stern despite having a Stiletto.

I've figured out how to keep pausing into the buffer while I'm out of the car (key not completely off) but as soon as I restart the car it resets.

I have no problems with my 2 GM cars. Actually just sold one because of mileage. No import can compete with the 2 American vehicles that I currently have.

What is YOUR reason that they BLOW?

Sounds like you really need to change the power to your stilleto to "Always On" and not a keyed accessory. I had my stilleto hard wired in my Sierra and it worked great.
