Halloween channel on Sirius XM

It's the return of Halloween Radio! Much like we've seen in prior years, Sirius XM Radio Inc. have once again is launching their Halloween Radio channel (Sirius channel 126 and XM channel 120), starting on Monday, October 26th.
From October 26th to October 29th, Halloween Radio will air classic scary stories, Halloween music, man-on-the street thoughts, listener comments, stories and personal Halloween memories, and a special appearance by Rosie O'Donnell (whose satellite radio daily morning show premieres this fall).

The channel will also feature Halloween-themed segments including stories and memories from a variety of Sirius XM hosts like Martha Stewart, Cousin Brucie, Jane Pratt, Jay Thomas, Judith Regan, and Chris "Mad Dog" Russo.

And then there's the catchy, creepy, fun, and scary sounds that will start airing on Halloween Radio beginning at 5pm October 30th, including creaking doors, wolves baying, footsteps, bubbling potions, a fog horn, breaking glass, the sounds of being chased through the woods, eerie screams, the echo of dripping water, a heartbeat and thunder. Halloween Radio is the perfect atmosphere for Halloween parties at work or at home and to set the mood for trick-or-treating.

Check out more Halloween goodness on Sirius' website, to sample Halloween Radio by playing with the spooky sounds in their interactive soundboard. (Also embedded below.)

Zzzzz..same as last year. bring back Igor to XM!

What, no complaints about speciality channels yet?

This is the kind of channel that I'm cool with; it's only gonna be a short time, and it sounds like a decent set of ideas.

A real tradition of course would be to air "War of the Worlds." My mother was a teenager when it was first broadcast, and she remembered listening to it (no, she did not think the Martians were attacking, she heard the disclaimer!).

That said, I do kind of wish the channels devoted to just one artist would go by the way; or perhaps they could do the channel for one artist the whole month, put all the good live and unreleased stuff on it, then go to another. That would work; oh, that's right, we're talking about Sirius/XM management, silly me.

I love this channel for trick-or-treating. Plus we have a party for kids that I set up my radio, and play this station.

I know............

Mel, Greenstein, and all other VP's & senior management could dress up like Execs who give a damn about quality programming and taking subscriber disatisfaction seriously.

But then again, everyone would know it was just for Halloween and noone would take them seriously!!!

That said, I do like Halloween. Since I'm a "Boomer", I'm gonna load up my DVD multi-disc player with Wolfman,Dracula,Frankenstein, & 50's Sci-Fi flicks, make a bowl of popcorn about the size of a 5 gallon bucket with about a gallon of root beer and kick back!!!

Hope everyone enjoys Halloween in their own way
!!!

Martha Stewart and Rosie O'Donnell? Wow. That is scary.

Me, I'll just stick to my IGOR airchecks, thanks all the same.

To hell with creepy sounds for Halloween.

Just play The Morning Mashup routines over and over again. It's scary that Sirius execs (and listeners) think that this drivel called "comedy" is just that. Put the unfunny "no talents" on Halloween radio and you'll have people scared out of their wits.

Come on, Sirius! There are comedy channels for such nonsense. Stop littering our favorite music channels with college interns laughing at each other's toilet humor.

Imagine trying to use the channel to enhance the ambience of your scary house only to have that stupid Sirius jingle breaking through every few minutes.

That sound you hear is the inside of Mel's awful colon......

Either that, or the ominous, blustery winds sweeping across the barren, desolate tundra in the back of Best Buy - where they hide the Skydock, and all the other Sirius/XM products!

This is another reason why I love my satrad. These special event channels add a bit of whimsy to the programming. And I LOVE the three Christmas channels they broadcast every year! Thanks, Sirius-XM!

Some years back DirecTV featured "MusicChoice" as the music channels. The specific channel was called "Songs of the Season" and on Halloween night they would feature cool "spooky" stuff like howls, screams, creaky doors, etc. for parties plus songs like "Monster Mash". I would have the channel on for my kids & "trick or treaters" and they liked it.

Seems like interviews, recollections, etc. is stringing it out too much even though from what I've read above, the bullshitting ends at 5PM and then the sound effects take over. Hope that is the case anyway.

That's just like the programmers at SiriusFM...they just can't help themselves, they shoot themselves in the foot every chance they get.

Its the music damnit! Can't they just understand that??? I don't want to pay for bullshit sessions!!!

The creepy noises were great two years ago... They totally ruined it last year, after every second sound effect they played the "Sirius/XM spooky bumper".

The heavy handed ID's killed the mood.

Igor was great but what we had last year was poor. The stories were ok the first time but the repetition killed it for me.

Too bad, XM used to be great with the micro-channels. Just another thing we have lost.

Sorry to be so grouchy but IMO it just isn't that difficult to do a good job with this. All we seem to get is a half-harted try.

I hope Martha Stewart shares some of her favorite "long pork" recipes.

Personally, I can't wait to hear Mad Dog's favorite Halloween memories.
Yecch!
His awful show is scary enough.
