Having troubles accessing Orbitcast?
I've been getting reports from readers that they're having troubles accessing the site. Not good.
I'm yelling at working with my current host to get this resolved (I'm almost 100% sure they're messing with me ever since we destroyed their servers when XM's satellite went down). And at the same time, I'm also in the process of migrating to a different, more robust, hosting platform.
Anyway, for those of you who can only access the site momentarily or can only hit the site when at home, here's a couple tips to stay up-to-date with the latest from The O.
- RSS Feed - tried and true, you can always subscribe to Orbitcast using this the handy-dandy feed. Here, I'll even give you a big shiny icon to click:
(Purty isn't it?)
My personal favorite RSS reader is Google Reader, but there's tons of others like Bloglines, My Yahoo, etc. - Email Updates - Some peeps just don't like RSS and rather stick to good ol' email. That's understandable, so if you want to receive The Orbitcast Daily Update, just click on this link. You'll receive an email every morning recapping the events of the prior day.
Subscribe to Orbitcast by Email - Twitter - This won't help you read the actual entries, but you can be notified of the latest Orbitcast headlines on Twitter. If you activate your cellphone, you can receive a text message whenever a new post has been added to the site.
Follow Orbitcast on Twitter
Overall, if you need an instantaneous fix, your best bet is the RSS feed, but I'm trying to help out in anyway I can while I battle it out with my host. I do apologize for this, and trust me when I say that I'm working on it as best as I can.

Obviously I'm able to access the site but this has bothered me since the redesign. There's no text field for the search function on the right margin, just the search button. Maybe it's just me, but I find this incredibly annoying.
Thanks Ryan

Ack! What browser are you running? I need to fix that.
Anyone else having troubles? Let me know!

I see only the search button with both IE6 and 7 on the home page. If I click it, it takes me to a page where I have a seach field and button.
I just assumed it was a feature, not a bug...

I can\'t access Orbitcast unless I use a web proxy, but also I can view the source fine but Firefox hangs when accessing stuff from sphere.com.

Using IE6 with AOL Explorer. Basically it gives IE6 tabbed browsing and some added security (I don't need the Firefox is better, upgrade to IE7 lecture). Still no text field.

Ok, the search text field should be working now - thanks to realwx who spotted my shoddy coding.
@CalGoldenBear: My goal is to have the site work on all popular browsers, so don't worry about that lecture here (though you really should be using Firefox... :) ).
@Scott Greczkowski: Thanks man, I do appreciate it. I just need more time in my days is all. I'm signed up with a nice kickass host that I'm very happy with (I can't say the same about my current host), and I just need to migrate everything over.
I'm hoping on having everything up and running on the new server this weekend. My hope is to do with as little downtime as possible.
