Holiday music channels return to Sirius XM, starting in November

Sirius XM Holiday Channels

The MySpace pages for XM Holly and XM Radio Hanukkah have been updated with information about the 2008 holiday music lineup

A post on the Radio Hanukkah MySpace blog says that it will be back on December 21st, but adds that it will air "only on XM Radio." Meanwhile a post on the Holly MySpace blog has spurred some questions as it says the Holly will return "in November" to Sirius XM.

It's difficult to say if XM Holly will be replacing Sirius Holiday this year, because the Holly blog does say to look for Holly at its "new home" - but clarifies this as being a new channel number. Previously, Holly has appeared on the XM dial on channel 103, a slot now held by Martha Stewart Living Radio.

Regardless, it looks like fans of both XM holiday-themed channels won't be disappointed this year.

Thanks David!

Holly has always been a great FM-styled Christmas station. However, its niche sisters have been rather ugly the last few years.

OK. It seems as if nothing is official yet. We don't even know if XM will be carrying a Halloween channel yet.

who cares! xm is gone anyway.

"Regardless, it looks like fans of both XM holiday-themed channels won't be disappointed this year."

Well, it's about time some group of subscribers around here got what they want.

Wow, great. This gets me excited every year. And you all wonder why the stock is worthless.

You guys wouldn't have any holiday music if it wasn't for my boy David!

This pending the ( possible ) November 5th announcement .

The November 5th change may not occur until until about November 17th now according to this post at XMFan....

I like "Holiday music" (Is that like Christmas music?) as much as the next guy, but I'm not sure how much I can enjoy it considering that over 80% of my substantial investment in this company has been wiped out. I truely hope that ALL the investers in Sirius/XM eventually get some optomistic news one of these days; it seems absurd that a technology this great finds itself in such dire circumstances. If you own a radio, buy somebody a radio as a "Holiday gift". We have to spread the word about the product, since Sirius/Xm seems reluctant to do so.

Traditions has been awesome, while there had literally been nothing like Special XMas anywhere in Creation (outside of my own MP3/CD collection, anyway) until this year at AOL Radio.

I want Special Xmas back! :-)

I would never advise anyone to purchase SatRad or buy them a radio the way things are going. I just cancelled 3 of my 5 subs this week. How could I possibly tell someone else to subscribe to a service I feel is going down the toilet? I'll be dropping all music channels on my remaining subs as soon as I can.

And I certainly won't be talking up SDARS so you can have a stock bump. You wanted the merger, you got it. I hope you lose everything.

Optimistic. I can't spell lately!

According to the Holly MySpace page, looks like both Holly and Traditions will be on "SiriusXM" this year, with Holly at least starting after Nov. 1, but before Thanksgiving!

Flap Jackson: "Holly has always been a great FM-styled Christmas station."

Isn't "great FM-styled Christmas station" a contradiction in terms?

Well this story probably helped ruin it. Now there is no mention of anything happening on the Holly or Radio Hanukkah myspace pages.

looks like Radio Hanukkah & Holly's myspace pages have been scrubbed. both of the posts about this year have been deleted. =(

XM 35 Holly is now playing

The original holiday channels are totally gone on XM. From like channel 97-110 or something there's nothing there.

XM 35 is the "Holly" station and is currently the only holiday station this year. I found it today while surfing through the channels.

It's better than nothing though. :)

I was looking forward to Special xmas. I am so bummed that it wont be airing this year!

Obviously the merge with XM and Sirius has created a homogenized channel line-up, especially with regards to Xmas stations. We already have Holly, Traditions and Pops, all playing traditional holiday music. Special Xmas was the one unusual offering and we played this non stop in our house all season long as it provided nothing but laughter. Why on earth do we need to add the Bing Crosby channel, which is just a slight variation of things they already play on the others. Obviously Special Xmas must offend the folks at Sirius, for there is no other reason not to bring this back as an Xmas staple.

Bring back Special X-mas that was the best x-mas station how could they get rid of that station. The radio station they really need to get rid of is Christmas pops that really blows...what wrong with people!!!!!!!!

I too miss Special Xmas. I've left feedback to that effect, but don't expect anything to change unless a lot of others do the same.

Did anyone think to record any of the show while it was on? I'd love to hear some of that good silly music again!

Harry
