Howard Stern will be available to SIRIUS Satellite Radio without any contractual restrictions for an aggressive fourth quarter marketing campaign, and Mel Karmazin intends on using him.
"Howard Stern is mobilized for an aggressive campaign in the fourth quarter for Howard to bring on some of the fans that he had, that have not yet made the conversion to satellite radio. So unlike last year in the fourth quarter, we did not have Howard Stern officially selling for us. This year we will have Howard selling for us."
While he didn't specify exactly what Howard will be doing, Mel did turn up the hype-machine with:
"This will be the first holiday season... where the best salesman on radio is going to be selling subscribers for us."
While Howard hardly sat idly by in promoting his move to satellite radio in 2005, there's little doubt that Stern will be an integral part of SIRIUS' holiday season promotions.

Ah Robin, I'll be ah dropping brochures from the ah Howie Copter.
He'll be going door to door in that exact outfit, handing out merit badges, cookies and Sirius receivers. ;-)
Oh goody! Once again when we go to the movies we can look forward to commercials where the stars aligen in the form of a giant penis and then simulate an ejaculation!
Besides if hoo hoo really wants to try to pull some more subscribers, he should go on a show that most of his old listeners are listening to, like Opie & Anthony.
Ramone! Howard Stern wears a poodle on his head!
he can sit by and bitch that XM oops sirius hasn't promoted his channels enough
This will be very different from next year's plan for Sirius marketing, Howard Stern. Then maybe in 2008 they will try Howard Stern.
That is going to be one beat-down dead horse by christmas.
That dead horse happens to be the most famous dj/radio host ever. Its so hard to hear the truth, isn't it o&a fan.
Maybe he could do a three hour show on CBS Terrestrial and then walk over to Sirius to do 2-3 hours more. This would result in a 3 hour commercial for Sirius on Free FM and... Oh wait, never mind.
So will Hoo-hoo claim he did the SatRad/Terrestrial deal first?
That dead horse happens to be the most famous dj/radio host ever.
Perhaps one of THE most famous shock jocks, but not the most famous DJ. He's "infamous" for being a dirty disgusting person to those who aren't fans. There's a big difference in being "famous" and "infamous". Most who want fame want clean fame.
Reggie Jackson's a pretty famous baseball player too, but it's just sad to watch him swing a bat now at his age...
;-)
Correction, that dead horse WAS the king, back in the ninties. And the most famous DJ has to be Casey Kasem. Not just becuase he is on XM now, but because everyone who has had a radio since 1970 knows who he is. The guy WAS fm radio.
I just hope he keeps it truthful and leaves the "wacky" costumes at home.
And drop the fist.
truth.pot meet kettle.
"Besides if hoo hoo really wants to try to pull some more subscribers, he should go on a show that most of his old listeners are listening to, like Opie & Anthony."
LOL...Since when do 74,000 listeners represent "Most" of Stern's old listeners?
Good luck to O&A, I hope they one day beat Imus' ratings.
Too bad i dont watch TV anymore. XMFTW
Where did you get 74,000 listeners? O&A have far more listeners than that.
-WF
"Where did you get 74,000 listeners? O&A have far more listeners than that."
Drudge Report's #s for NYC. Posted last week.. Imus had 94,000
o&a total # at any given time is 67,000 in new york
it is sad when you cant beet imus.
This will bring more subs to Sirius than Howards 14 month whoring of THE REVOLUTION. Mark my fing words!
You can't ever "beet" Imus. He will not get into the pickling jar. ;)
P.S. How many years did it take for Howard to beat Imus?
I invented Sirius, hoo hoo. Tell 'em Fred. and I just love being Mell's little whore. Signed
Howard Stern
Howard looks like fucking Tiny Tim.
Hard to " Beet " that !
oh look i mispelled beat.
it could be worse i could be a fan of O&A
Howard is the King of All Media. Those two losers that work at xm/cbs or not-talented and are a waste of xm bandwidth. Thats alright they wont be around long when xm drops them. I got my white bitch Hugh working on that right now
So if howard isn't the number 1 all time radio guy, who is? Stern is to o&a as a 747 is to a cessna. give it up, stop being in denial.
"So if howard isn't the number 1 all time radio guy, who is? Stern is to o&a as a 747 is to a cessna. give it up, stop being in denial."
In terms of sheer numbers, both listeners and/or affiliates? Probably Hannity or Limbaugh.
>> You can't ever "beet" Imus. He will not get into the pickling jar. ;) >>
OMG, quote of the month from History Guy. Heheheheh....
Hannity or limbaugh??? I'm saying all time, the history of radio.
pete and history guy should do more bonding together.maybe they could herd sheep in wyoming.
pete:history guy , why cant i quit you?
to quote the o and a guys from another thread. whaaa "WHY THE F ARE YOU POSTING IN A THREAD ABOUT HOWARD, YOU MUST REALLY LIKE HIM BECAUSE YOU TALK ABOUT HIM. WHAAAAAAA

THAT FUCKING PONDERUS MAN, PONDERUS.
WAAAAAAAAAH.I cant take a joke WAAAAAAAAAH.
sternfan an idiot
I'm saying all time, the history of radio.
In terms of listeners, Limbaugh and Stern tied at their peaks. That's total per week. They have dramatically different audiences, though.
But if you look at this way, brian- what if stern never went to sirius, instead limbaugh did? same impact? i know that fatty has a huge following but not like hoohoo
Ryan, can you start a forum section on Orbitcast? It would entertaining as hell.
Oh, and my girlfriend (ex girlfriend now I guess) is a slut. A filty slut with poor judgement. I sincerely hope there is an HIV virus destroying her white blood cells now.
-Lord Westfall
O&A won't be an issue a year from now because if XM doesn't get bought out by a company with deep pockets it won't be around a year from now. Can you spell BANKRUPTCY?
I wouldn't want to be an XM subscriber who just plunked down hundreds on receivers and antennas! Or worse, a long-term sub.
While Sirius also is in the red, at least its financial momentum is in a positive direction. XM is just sad and getting sadder each quarter.
"Correction, that dead horse WAS the king, back in the ninties."
And yet he still mananged to get himself the $500 million deal. Go figure. None of the Opie fans never have a good explanation for that one. Oh, that's right... he sold out.
>> to quote the o and a guys from another thread. whaaa "WHY THE F ARE YOU POSTING IN A THREAD ABOUT HOWARD, YOU MUST REALLY LIKE HIM BECAUSE YOU TALK ABOUT HIM. WHAAAAAAA >>
Because of that ridiculous picture, that's why. I never commented on his show, his audience, or Sirius in general.
>> And yet he still mananged to get himself the $500 million deal. Go figure. None of the Opie fans never have a good explanation for that one. Oh, that's right... he sold out. >>
I wouldn't exactly call it 'selling out', but you have to admit this: Sirius would really be up a creek without the almighty Stern under their umbrella.
So I call it more of a power play on Sirius' part rather than Howard actually being 'worth' $100 mil. a year.
Hey Pete Wake UP.
Do you really think that $100 million is for Howard and just Howard. Do you really think that all of his employees are getting a pay check that says Sirius on it? That $100 million a year was not for Howard Stern it was for the Howard Stern show and all that is neccessary. Except for the core group, "The Howard Stern Production Company" is most likely writing checks. Hell Robin is the VP of the damn company.
PLUS, it is on 2 channels. So if you take into account what XM was willing to pay for 5 hours and what Sirius paid for 48hours who do you really think got the better deal.
No, I didn't think the *entire* 100 million was all for Howard.
But thanks for playing!
"PLUS, it is on 2 channels. So if you take into account what XM was willing to pay for 5 hours and what Sirius paid for 48hours who do you really think got the better deal."
So you count replays for Sirius but not for XM. Typical Siriot. Go lose some money.
-Lord Westfall
Pete, If you didn't think it why did you write it.
Westfall. I am not an O & A listener. How many times does the show get replayed. What other programs have they developed that are played on High Voltage? But if we want to count the whole day, (sorry I should have in the first place) that would be 24 hours.
Stern has been beating the hell out of Imus and Opie and Anthony for years...and he still is.
O&A have got a few more listeners then Roth got, but not much. Imus gets about 3 million. Stern gets 4.5 million on Sirius, and he has only been their for 6 months. Imus should just retire now and stop embarrasing himself every day. Opie and Dopey meanwhile, need to stop kissing Imus's ass....and start kissing Howard's....otherwise he will have to slap them around like he did back on regular radio.
