Since 2002, we've heard about Howard Stern's remake of the cult-classic film Porky's - and now it appears the movie has been greenlit and is ready to shooting as early as this Fall.
According to SlashFilm, Stern Stern took a vacation from his daily Sirius Satellite Radio Show to work on the film project.
"They say it's all greenlit and everything, ready to go. They say they can even start shooting in October, but I don't know if that's true," says Stern. "It seemed like a fun project, which it is."
There's still no word on who exactly will be writing the script based on the original 1982 movie. Reportedly, Stern also said that a director has not yet been hired.
"We got two scripts that were developed simultaneously kind of. One's a rewrite of a rewrite of a script that we did - that I didn't do, but I was sort of in on. It's coming along pretty funny," said Stern. "We're going to combo them now because there's funny jokes in both and you have to figure out which is better for the movie. And I obsess on shit too because you want it to be good."

It must be sad for both O&A and their fans. Living their whole life trying to put down Stern and his show, just to make themselves feel better. Face it, Stern is the best, and O&A are just pale imitators. Once the merger goes through, guess who's first on the chopping block?

I can't WAIT to see what the Howard fanboy's excuse is going to be when this bombs.
The reason everything he touched (key word, touched, everything he TOUCHES nowadays turns to shit, case in point, that bomb of a movie that Artie was on) was because he used to be a fantastic talent that pulled in 12-20 million listeners a week. Nowadays he's lucky if he is pulling in 4. If you had an audience of 20 million fans who were die hard into your show, just talking about it would turn it into gold.
But those days are gone. What's truely sad are the few people left yelling "Howie Rules". Those crowds are getting smaller, aren't they? Or does Howie pay people to show up so he doesn't have to be honest about what a failure he is turning into these days?
As a former Howard fan, let me be the first to say that this movie, like everything else he is doing these days, just shows how out of touch he is. Part of what made Porky's such a cult classic was the teens that wanted to see it for the nudity. Well guess what? Now your 13 year old can go on the internet and get something ten times worse FOR FREE. The days of this type of "late night comedy" are done. Best you can hope for is a few million seeing it period, and it going down in history as one of those movies that "should not have been remade". And then we shall see how fast Howard starts suing the people making the film to get his name taken off the film.
You want more examples of his recent failures? Well from what I hear, his ON DEMAND network isn't exactly lighting the world on fire. Why? Because his schtick is the same thing it was 20 years ago, and while it was certainly "edgy" 20 years ago, it's not now. Add to that his now overinflated ego and half billion dollar lifestyle, and this show is basically turning out to be another "Online Tonight" story, where it goes from interesting, to nothing but name dropping and plugs.
But thats OK, keep hanging on to the dream guys, while Howie books the same comedians he did in the 80's like Dice, Jackie, and any other has been comedian. Leaves more open fo rOpie and Anthony so they cna book the up and coming, and truely edgy comedians of today.
Pretty sad when even though the first 3 hours are censored they are still funni rthan granny stern. And the funny thing is, this one post showed more intelligence and common sense than his entire audience, albiet small, can come up with.
