Introducing the Orbitcast Forums
Here we go folks! Today is the official launch of the Orbitcast Forums.
I've always considered your comments and feedback to be an integral and important part of this blog (and so does the NAB), but the conversation has been limited to the posts. As a result, I've always felt like something was missing: the ability for the conversation to extend beyond the blog. For you to take control of the discussion.
That's what the Orbitcast Forums are for. There you can share, debate and - of course - spread rumors with the rest of the satellite radio community. And a place where both Sirius and XM fans, investors, and industry watchers have a voice. No egos. No power trips. No censorship. It's a place meant for open, free and (nearly) intelligent conversation.
As interesting discussions come up, they will be linked to directly from the main Orbitcast blog.
We quietly opened up the Orbitcast Forums last week as a "private beta" to gather some initial feedback from the community. Because again, I feel very strongly that a message board is nothing without its members and I want it to be the best it can be. So the forums have, and will continue to evolve over time.
There's a permanent link to the forums in the navigation bar up top, or you can access them directly at orbitcast.com/forums. See you there!

Ryan, Two comments......i cant help but wonder what your new forums will mean to SiriusBackstage. At one time the guys over there were the be all end all for Sirius fanboys. They have recently fallen out of favor with the powers that be at Sirius. In fact i recall not to long ago that there was some serious mud slinging going on. How the mighty have fallen! My second comment is a word of warning as a casual observer. Be very careful when dealing with the boys at Sirius corporate. Your site is very hot right now and i am sure you will get some pressure from corporate to "play ball" just keep Backstage in mind.....what happend to them could happen here if you allow the fox to guard the hen house.

I predict the other message board sites -- all of them -- are history.

This also competes with XMFan, which isn't a bad site if you need technical information or even a bit of trivia. But most of these forums degenerate into mudslinging fests. Too many dolts out there, and the internet gives them a big megaphone.
But best of luck to you in all your endeavors. Orbitcast by itself is a great success, IMHO.

Ryan... FYI, when I view the site in IE using Vista, the Contact tab button is dropping down to the next line now that the Forums one has been added, even when IE's full-screen.

Great, another place to post more of Ryans rumors that never come true. How exciting.

Cool! I already check out the boards at Sirius Backstage, XM411, XM Fan, and Radio-Info each day. Orbitcast boards will definately be on my daily list now too. I've always loved the site so the boards should be great.

Apparently the Orbitcast (including the Forums) database died as of late last night (about 2:30 am ET)... I'm working it out with the support team to bring us back online.

hey wow! looks like the database is back now... not sure what the problem was, but we seem to be up and running...
BTW, I'm completely blown away from the number of members who signed up in just the first day (on Labor Day Weekend no doubt). It's truly exciting, and hopefully a sign of good things to come.
Thanks all for helping start this community!

Ryan,
Congrats. You've given Frontmed, aka stackpointer, another place to post his anti-Siirius and therefore anti-merger crap.

StackPointer, aka Frontmed, aka Real_Star_8, aka Real_Star_16 aka, aka, aka, aka is a message board cancer. He will drive away more interest in the new forum than Ryan can create.

Thanks for the invite. But message board formats suck and take too much time to read due to little pictures in everyones post.

@TVGenius: Well, it took me about a week, but I fixed the navbar problem. Thanks for the heads up!
