It comes down to the wire for Bubba

Bubba the Love SpongeToday is the last day that Sirius XM Radio and Bubba the Love Sponge can renew their relationship, and there remains no word yet as to whether an agreement between the two has been reached.

Last year Bubba's contract renewal with Sirius came pretty close to the deadline, but no where near this close.

People familiar with the matter confirm to Orbitcast that the deal could have been wrapped up two-months ago, but that an agreement remains unresolved.

The situation got dicey over recent weeks, with Sirius XM pulling a show replay during which Bubba said "goodbye" to his listeners (audio) amid other criticism. Sentiment, in general, doesn't seem to have improved.

So with today being the last day before the contract comes to an end, the question remains - is this the end of Bubba the Love Sponge on satellite radio?

Bubba was on a tirade for a couple days last week but he's actually been on pretty good behavior this week. For some reason he is on a break on the FM show so they're a little more energetic on the Sirius show this week.

I think technically they're under contract through the end of the calendar year this is just the last planned broadcast day. Either way the show should be interesting today...

The Sirius show started to suffer when they started doing double duty. It seemed like for a while they were just going through the motions and filling air time - taking phone calls, emails, and watching MSNBC. The comedy bits and stunts were cut back considerably. Outside of an occational Lisa Lampinelli(sp?) visit they didn't have many quality guests that I can remember.

The first two years of the show were exciting. You had know idea what was going to happen. What crazy bit Manson or Ned would come up with. What kind of stunt they'd trick someone into participating in. There were strippers and porn stars in on a regular basis. Even the general conversations amongst the guys were a lot more interesting.

I'm sure a lot if this has to do with Sirius managment. Maybe they don't want Bubba upstaging Howard? Howard and Bubba seem to have a good relationship and mutual respect for each other now. Bubba can be his own worst enemy sometimes but I don't get why Sirius doesn't treat him a little better.

I honestly thought the FM thing would fail (I'm sure Sirius did too) but he's done quite well. But overall it's much better on the ole resume to be on a national outlet as opposed to being regional. And if he did leave Sirius I doubt he'd get a second chance to come back.

So long you no talent hillbilly. Hoohoowho? won't miss you or the void you won't leave when you go back to obscurity.

RAMONE!!!!!!! BUBBA IS A CUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nah. Screw that guy. Not worth it. Find somebody else.

Who the hell does he think he is dressed like that? He looks like a fat George Michael.

That is the GAYEST watch and GAYEST pair of shades I've ever seen.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TO BUBBA

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TO BUBBA

Go find a glory hole in an I-95 truck stop you fag....

According to siriusbuzz.com, Bubba has renewed his contract with Sirius XM. Info is from a credible source but there has been no confirmation yet.

Buhbye Bubba. Enjoy your time in the unemployment line, you no talent hack.

signed!

the Bubba Army can all breathe easy today as a very credible inside source has given us the heads up that Bubba The Love Sponge will be staying on Howard 101, where he belongs. What was to be Bubba’s last show can be heard today on ch.101 starting at 10 am… I’m sure it will interesting to say the least.

There is no official word from Sirius XM yet so, you will have to stay tuned for details but, it is safe to say that management has officially avoided the next huge mistake.

So? Even if the old one ends today....Why can't he sign a new contract next week or the week after? If he doesn't sign today there is never a possibility of him signing again? Come on.

I hope SIRIXM sets a precedent and lets him go. They need to give actual talent new deals (like they did with O&A) and get rid of the trash that doesn't make them $. Bubba has way to few listeners to justify an expensive new deal. Trim the fat.

THIS JUST IN!!! BUBBA RE-SIGNED FOR TWO YEARS! AWESOME!!!

Howard just came on Bubba's show and said that Bubba has signed a new 2-year deal. Controversy Over.

On the radio now...Howard says that Stern has been signed for 2 more years whaoooo!!!

Just announced he re-signed for 2 years.

Howard is on Bubba's show right now announcing Bubba signed a 2 year deal.

Just announced on the show he has resigned for 2 years.

Talk about to few listeners. O&A keep getting dropped for low raitings and bubba has been added to 4 new markets. AND he's just signed with Sirius for 2 more years. So there u go!

Just announced... Sirius XM signed Bubba to a 2 year deal... Howard Stern just called the show to make the announcement.

I guess Sirius IS really starting to listen to the listeners. Yeah for Bubba.

About time. And thankfully it's a 2 year. Bubba has said many times that he will likely decide to leave when Howard does and this will put him right on time with Howard.

I thought he was leaving anyway if they resigned O&A. back up your words fatboy

I love that Artie called in & said he is glad BTLS signed so he doesn't have to be friends with O&A & asked if Brent & Bubba still want to kick O&A's ass for real & Bubba ssaid yes & Artie said great

Now why don't all you Bubba fans turn your red neck friends on to your boy by getting them a satellite radio for "The Holidays" - or even for Christmas. People who love Bubba must hang out with people who love Bubba; it's the nature of the species.

When you are out on your all terrain vehicles, or out hunting while drinking beer, talk up Sirius/XM to your hillbilly friends. Hell, they could install the radios on their John Deere's. The company doesn't know how to promote, so we need all the word of mouth we can create. Now get out there and do what Mel can't do - get people to buy this thing!
