Well, this is the day we've been waiting for. SIRIUS Satellite Radio has officially announced the Stiletto 100 featuring WiFi, Yahoo! Music Jukebox, the ability to save music, and more notably this is Sriius' first live portable radio.
The Stiletto is pretty much the worst kept secret in satellite radio, and if you're an avid reader you already know the features of this device and know that we've beaten this thing to death over the recent months.
One thing to highlight is the "official" inclusion of Yahoo! Music Jukebox with the Stiletto (suprise surprise). Any bookmarked song on the Stiletto 100 is moved to a favorites list, which is accessed when connected to PC. Yahoo! Music Jukebox then lets you purchase songs, full albums, or explore other artist offerings through the software or "other compatible online music download or subscription services."
Oh, and the MSRP is set at $349.99.

Real odd shape - not really a pocket unit like the inno but much nicer than the the myfi (as you would expect for technology almost 2 years old).
I do like the 60 min pause/rewind feature a lot. wish the current line of xm2go had thought of that...
It will be interesting to see if the reception compares to the myfi or the inno. I would hope for their sake it is more like the inno.
Yahoo! Music Jukebox should soon be incorporated into Sirius Internet Radio. anyone know if this is planned?
i now listen to Sirius as much at work via the Internet as i do on the road, and see this as yet another value-added feature, and a potential revenue stream.

how far behind will the RIAA be now?
I thought I'd be like Ryan and post things twice.
I'm an ass :)

Radio = 349
Home Kit = 69
Car Kit = 69
That equals 490 before taxes and extended warranty (i'd get one).
Cancel those pre-orders now. This thing like all sat radio units will drop in price fast. And where is the release date?
tussel:
The Radio itself is $349.99 while the Inno w/ included Home Kit is $399.99. I got the Stiletto w/ Home Kit for only $50 extra, matching the same price as the Inno.
The Inno Car Kit costs $74.99 while the Stiletto Car Kit costs $69.99.
The Inno Home Kit costs the same price as their Car Kit while the Stiletto Home Kit costs the same as its Car Kit.
Finally, The expected release date is October 2nd, 2006 while Sirius Direct tells us October 4th, 2006.
RAMONE, give this person a pair of eyeglasses.
Im keeping my preorder. I already have a boombox and sportster replay for use in the home/car. I have been realy dying for something to use while out and about, at sporting events, and at work. I have no intention of buying any extras so though the $350 price tag is steep, it is still somewhat reasonable for what it delivers.
I paid 350 for my Inno (with Home kit, a Car Kit and Antenna Headphones shipped from Amazon about 3 months ago.
From myradiostore.com right now
Inno with Home kit = 289.99
Not to say Amazon can do the same thing.

Ok lets forget price. Wait on the fact its a Sirius product.... remember the S50.
And remember this is Sirius's first true portable.
If i was interested i would wait for a few reviews first.
Early adopters usually get the shaft.
Let's not have a price comparison battle. Both are pricey for most, but will come down. Early adopters will jump at it, others will wait for a better deal. Just like any other electronics.
As for the RIAA...I would not be surprised if they are waiting to file suit as soon as the unit is commercially avaialable. The Stiletto and Inno/Helix each have the ability to capture songs with the touch of a button without royalties being DIRECTLY paid (they are paid indirectly through subscription fees). For the sake of the suit against XM, the RIAA has to be consistent.
I want the RIAA to move against Sirius -- not because I'm an XM fan, but because I'm a sat radio fan. XM and Sirius have to be united against the RIAA and idiot congressmen on these issues. I want Sirius in the fight along side of XM. They need to support each other for the sake of sat radio. Keep that in mind...
S50 was made by Humax, while the Stiletto was made by a different company that uses Linux like TiVo and Linksys. When I held the S50 it bricked faster than the Stiletto in 15 minutes time. Yes, I've held the Stiletto.
I could have sworn this article was posted twice...
Now I look like an ass.
WF
That's because you are an ass. :)
Actually, I did double-post. I deleted the second one as soon as I realized what I did.
I have confidence that this will be a solid performer. This is pretty much everything that people were hoping the S50 would be. I think Sirius recognizes this and they have taken steps to make it rock solid because it is going to be the flagship device that will catch the eyes of new and old customers alike. This thing has been delayed several months an I think Sirius delayed it because they did not want to release a half ass product. I do not think many first adopters will be disappointed. In fact those who wait may be the ones disappointed. I can just see it selling out initially and selling out again before Chritmas. Meanwhile an RIAA suit could cause future versions of the device to be severly crippled.
"Meanwhile an RIAA suit could cause future versions of the device to be severly crippled."
Is this device still advertised to have an FM transmitter from the home kit? Anyone remember that the Inno was not allowed to transmit FM from the home kit? This could run into FCC problems as well.
Chipper - It's unclear whether the FM mod issue with the Inno was something XM had to do or chose to do.
I do think the RIAA is ready and waiting to file suit once the device has been released. Unless they have grounds for an injunction to prevent the distribution (which is unlikely since they would have done that against XM), it will not stop the sales; rather, it will bring Sirius into the battle, where they should be. XM and Sirius have to stand united against the RIAA, FCC and our idiots in office.
Remember, it's really XM AND Sirius against them, not XM versus Sirius. We need them both or sat radio will not last.
I don't think Sirius' new device is going to be as good as the Inno/Helix, but that said, I don't think it will be as bad as the S50.
IN ANY CASE, it will not be a huge driver of subs--just like the Inno wasn't. It's a cool device--that's it
Westfall
Chipper, the home kit will have an FM modulator inside, and the FCC knows this, and approved it. Why? Who knows. Some people are saying that FCC hates XM, but FCC hates Sirius too, so it doesn't make sense.

Let compare other popular electronic devices.
Treo700w- 4.4"h x 2.3"w x .9"d 6oz
Stilleto- 4.7"h x 2.0w x 1"d
LG VX8300- 3.58"h x 1.93"w x .92"d 3.88oz
Inno- 4-3/8"h x 2-1/3"w x 5/8"d 4.8oz
Ipod 30gig- 4.1"h x 2.4"w x .43"d 4.8oz
Really not that big of a difference. Not a pocket unit like the Inno. Have you really put the 2 next to each other? I will wait to make a size comparison when I can see both of them. And damn it is small than my Treo700 so the size is not a BIG deal like you make it out to be. I do not use a holster for my phone and it fits in my pocket nicely.
well, its about fuckin' time. My buddy said his dad just got one, dont ask me how. He has used the wifi feature at work and says he loves it.
They are also offering a non-wifi stilleto for those that dont feel they need one, is what they said. Is that so?
The SL10 will be out about a month after the Wifi enabled one comes out. The SL10 has 256mb of storage (for Sirius recording only), and no WiFi. Both units get a signal via the sats.
The Stiletto units (SL100 and SL10) are made by Wistron NeWeb. They also brought us the Starmate and Starmate Replay amongst other things.

Sirius has begun making universal car and home kits. The connectors for the Sportster 4 and the Stiletto are the same. You could purchase a car kit right now for 49.99 at Best Buy or Circuit City. The "Sirius Universal Plug n Play" (SUPV1) Will work. Only catch is you need to buy and FM transmitter and attach it to the headphone out plug on the car kit. If you’re lucky enough to have an auxiliary in plug on your car stereo you can direct connect avoiding the FM transmitter. I brought one today and it works great in my car!
