Jesse Jackson, Georgetown Partners met with FCC Chairman

Jesse JacksonThe Reverend Jesse Jackson joined Georgetown Partners in a meeting with FCC Chairman Kevin Martin last Wednesday, it was revealed in a recent FCC filing.

Georgetown Partners has proposed - as a "partial remedy to the adverse competitive effects" of the merger between Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. and XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. - that the companies be required to lease a portion of their infrastructure and bandwidth to Georgetown.

The company is asking that at least 20 percent of Sirius and XM's channel capacity be handed over to "a minority-controlled entity" (read: Georgetown Partners) on a permanent basis. The goal is to "create competition and diversity" in satellite radio. To me, this is implying that diversity is not a focus of both companies, regardless of statements from the NAACP that point to the exact opposite.

Jesse Jackson has already publicly opposed the Sirius-XM merger, so I can only imagine what he had to add to the conversation with FCC Chairman Kevin Martin.

like Martin is going to be able to understand a word Jackson says anyway.

"We've removed the ceiling above our dreams. There are no more impossible..."

Jesse and Al are clowns....has beens,..and are not taken seriously anymore. They are good for the punch line of a joke and that is about all. It never ceases to amaze me how people will reach a pinnacle of power and influence and squander it on their own ego.

Hilarious.....what's next?

Jesse is just negotiating for an hour show on Howard 100. Maybe he could follow Riley Martin on Tuesdays. Both shows would have similar content except Riley is funny and has talent.

I think Jesse Jackson needs to get launched into outer space without a ship or an oxygen tank. That way, we can get another paid holiday and he can shut his mouth about the XM-Sirius merger and go back into the hole he crawled out from.

While I support programming diversity, and I certainly support the desires of ethnic groups, I do not support forcing corporations to allow more third parties to control them than what is absolutely necessary. Doesn't this scenario remind you of Clear Channel-XM? I thought so...

That man has absolutely no credibility. What a quack!

Charge them with extortion and approve the damn merger!

He should run for congress. The p.o.s. would fit right in.

"That's right.... Apologize."

"That's right.... Apologize."

"Kiss it... Apologize"

Ha ha, really Jesse Jackson? Really? GYHO!!!

I am so sick of black people exploiting their color for profit or fame. SICK!

These people are no better than your average black gangster in the city.

Another "minority" riding on the coat tails of a successful company! Now with their current filing, which by the way is full of lies... They are trying to convince the FCC that the merger will screw the listening public (paid subscribers). BUT, allowing georgetown llc to be on the air with Sirius holding possibly 20% of whatever.... Well now that'll fix the "problem"!!
What a load of horse$#@$...... Dont let this happen again..... Really makes them look pathetic.... Bordering socialism or worse! Hey Georgetown... Get your own Satellite company and bang heads with Sirius/Xm and earn your OWN way in the world instead of LYING to get a free ride.... Again!
