XM Radio is set to launch Kenny Chesney's "No Shoes Radio," starting July 26th on XM channel 18."No Shoes Radio," will feature music from Chesney's audio catalog, including never-before-heard recordings, an uncut, exclusive concert broadcast from the "2008 Poets & Pirates Tour," plus random drop-ins from fans and friends.
The dedicated channel will thankfully also include music beyond Chesney's catalog, featuring some of his favorite artists - similar to the kind of music you could easily hear drifting from the backstage "Vibe Room" - to capture the sonic culture of the Poets & Pirates Tour.
Since the channel is launching midway through the year's most attended Poets & Pirates Tour - complete with 14 NFL stadium plays - expect to hear music and other content for "No Shoes Radio" from the bus, in the halls, around the soundchecks, and even during post-show jams. Beyond that, not only will Chesney's special guests be partaking in the enjoyment, but look for tailgating fans from the parking lot to provide drop-ins, shout-outs and the occasional request.
"This is a way to keep the vibe alive, long after our tour is gone," aaid Chesney.
The channel will run from July 26th through October 25th on XM channel 18, as well as on XM Radio Online, where it will get a 3-month extension.

YESSSSS!!!
SWEET! GO XM!!!
See now this is when I wish I had XM and not Sirius, hurry up FCC and vote already o.k.
Kenny Chesney has become a country rip-off of Jimmy Buffett. Hoo Hoo!
oh no is xm starting this sh*t too? BAD BAD BAD.
GREAT! Kenny C is great country music.... finally, something other than the Grateful Dead and Bruce Springsteen. Actually, Sirius had Neil Diamond which was great too. I'm looking forward to this.
I usually write about how great HD is, but being a raging homo I'd rather just stare at this hunk of man and dream about getting boned doggie-style while I enjoy my HD.
Merge Already!! Thats bull that i'd have to buy XM along with Sirius to listen. I'm a Sirius subscriber... I WANT THAT!!! damn FCC... Happy 4th all!!
g,
The only thing thats bull is your too cheap to buy what you want to listen to and expect at a "merge" will make everything better for you. Dream on......
Luckly HD Radio has the money, the talent and the programming savy to not cheap out and waste bandwidth and a channel on just one artist and his/her songs played over and over.
does he
I understand that Kenny tried HD and said it "sounded worse that two cats in heat" ...WOW Kenny.... that's pretty tough, I only thought it sounded like nails on a blackboard.
IF another 9/11 or Katrina happens ... Satrad would serve!
One thing that is being lost in the discussions regarding this merger is the public service provided by satrad, that terrestrial radio could never address. God forbid, can you imagine what would happen in a city like Chicago or LA if local radio wasn't up? .... How do you advise and direct 100,000 people in their cars without satrad?
I hope it never happens, but if it does happen and the FCC kills off one or both of these companies, something more serious than minority channels and HD chips would rule the day.
We weren't ready on 9/11 ... will we be ready next time?
I wonder what John Kerry and the NAB would say then?
Plowboy,
Another on the long list of BS used to push a "merge" scheme, your desperate and your risky investment loss must really be hurting. HOWEVER this time you've stepped over the line. You are so full of sh*t with this one. So you feel the country desperately needs satradio as desperately as you need satradio's merge to have any shot at even getting a portion of your loser investment back? Have some class, have some respect your post here proves your a greedy, uneducated jerk. After months of your whining and blaming others for the lack of "merge", and trying to fool others into following your screwed up risky investment you then bring up a jerk-off idea that satrad is needed when it comes to god forbid a disaster or mass murder.
"How do you advise and direct 100,000 people in their cars without satrad?" Well for starters terrestrial radio, HD Radio, cellular, road information signs. You forget satrad is ground based just like everything else, it has the same chance of failure. TV and terrestrial radio didn't fail and the EAS has many ways of reaching those it needs to reach when it needs to reach them, which doesn't require a monthly fee. Your argument is crap, and you really need to think long and hard about priorities before posting classless and with a complete lack of respect for those effected. All to push your personal BS agenda. When you grow up you might just find there are many things which are more important than making money.
"I wonder what John Kerry and the NAB would say then?" I would hope that John Kerry, every member of the FCC, every member of the NAB, every senator and congressman and women would see the complete ignorance going on here at orbitcast, the cheerleading for "merge" not for consumers, not for the health of the satrad industry, but to desperately salvage a stupid and risky investment and all of them vote NO! f'ing way when it comes to "merger" in the satradio industry. It's not a merge it's a "merge" scheme a attempt to force the government into authorizing a MONOPOLY.
Plowboy time for you to grow up and be real or continue with your phoney posts, the rest of us are watching. Any investor worth a crap would understand the only chance the satradio industry has for long term health is better management, better business plan, WITH direct competition forcing the competing companies into doing their best both for themselves and more importantly for the consumer. Face the reality Mel's actions both prior to coming to Sirius and his actions since coming to Sirius have proven Mel is not at all a friend of Radio much less satradio both when it comes to the industry and consumers.
Again and more importantly YOU plowboy better think long and hard before you USE a disaster or a mass murder to try to benefit yourself in any fashion, learn to show some class and respect.
The EAS is works well without the satradio industry, the EAS sure can work well without the "merge" of the satradio industry and we all can see yet again the truth about plowboy.
leave the shitty single artist channels to sirius
Jesus Christ, first ABBA and now some redneck with a douched out hat? Maybe Chester is right.
Scratch that...these channels actually are for minorities...the gay community.
Remember folks , ABBA radio starts on Monday , on Sirius .
".....You are the dancing queen .....
Remember the movie "Misery" where Kathy Bates "Hobbles" James Caan so that she can keep him incapacitate just enough to enjoy his company, but to never see him become healthy enough to leave or defend himself?
Every time the poor bastard would start to heal, here comes Kathy with a sledgehammer to crush his ankles.
See an analogy here?
The FCC five are not stupid people, in fact, if you look at their writings you'll discover that they are highly intelligent and articulate people. I've read most of their individual works and rulings. However, apparently something is horribly amiss as past history has shown that the average merger processes in less than 9 months .. So why are we here nearing 18 months with two quickly fading companies whose stock is valued by the leading financial house in the ENTIRE world as being worth less than a Big Mac or a quart and a half of gasoline?
Why ... Because the FCC knows very well that this merger is necessary for the proliferation ... no, existance of satrad. They know these companies are deeply in dept and can't sustain themselves for another half year, they know people love the service, they know the NAB has had a monopoly for years treating consumers like sheep.... and YOU know all these things are true!
But as Mr. Addlestein notes (and I like him as a person and Commissioner ... he'd make a great future Chairman IMO) the FCC has allowed itself to be controlled by Congress... and Congress has allowed itself to be controlled by the NAB... and the NAB's intent is to destroy Satrad for their own financial benefit.
The FCC has fully relinquished its autonomy under Kevin Martin.
So what is a puppet FCC organization to do? Torn by the dictates of their puppet masters yet intelligent and moral people who realize that they are not doing their duty to consumers by nixing this arrangement.
They "Hobble" Sirius and XM very much like Kathy did. They take XM and Sirius within inches of their lives. This way, they can have it as close to "both ways" as possible. Please their puppet masters and the public.
This is exactly what they have done!
Let's hope it's not too late.
Go Jimmy Go!
AC,
It appears that the Plowboy struck a very sensitive nerve when he brings up the point of the public and safety aspect of Satellite Radio. You proceed to publish a diatribe suggesting that this is a very valid point and one that has been underestimate by the proponents of satellite. Thank you for tipping your hand.
I saw this on Yahoo and thought it was worth of posting. How better to get an unobstructed view of this situation.
Reed Hundt,
The architect that helped create SDARS commented on the merger a few months ago.
http://www.siriusmerger.com/uploads/FINA...
Given some of the outstanding questions surrounding the creation of two separate licenses for XM and SIRIUS at the time of inception, Mr. Hundt, as the Chair of the FCC at the time, used this discussion to
clarify for the record the intention behind the FCC's 1997 order creating the satellite radio service.
"I should just say my thought was this: Let's start out with these two licenses, since it is not clear exactly what is the optimal business model, and then let's let the two firms go at it for a while and see what
happens. But it was never the case that these service rules were intended to be written [in] concrete or, like the Constitution of the United States, changed only through an elaborate process. It was an attempt to figure out a good way to get the satellite radio industry off to a pro-competitive start and then in the fullness of time the FCC and the parties and the people in the industry would be able to see, well, what works and what doesn't work, what's happening and what isn't happening."
At least XM had the decency to use a channel that's not already being used...I enjoyed Strait Country at first, but didn't appreciate having US Country pre-empted for it. This sounds like it could be fun to tune in to, though not for three months...Might be good for a couple weeks, a month maybe. I like the fact that it's going to be Kenny and Friends, and not just HIS music...Though (and it may have been a scre-up on someone's part), I actually caught a couple Kenny Chesney songs on XM 17 when it was supposed to be Strait Country.
Everybody with a foot fetish is dancing on the ceiling.
CAUSE IT'S NO SHOES Y'ALL!!!
That'll show the system.
As someone who is pro merger and pro investor, I'm even getting sick of Plowboy posting the same crap 10 times.
As someone who supports HD and the NAB, I bet you would!
Hello
I am a homo
Plowboy,
"Why ... Because the FCC knows very well that this merger is necessary for the proliferation ... no, existance of satrad. No the FCC doesn't think or "know" this BS. This is more of what you think, more of your ignorance trying to justify your risky investment which is your failure. You flip flopping and now kissing the FCC's ass suddenly is a joke, yet proves alot about a person who would make a risky investment, then wrongly bash those who you feel are at fault, only to one day wake up and kiss ass. Either way both of your choices will never bring your money back. Melvin Alan "Mel" Karmazin has just about killed this industry like he has done to others before. Melvin Alan "Mel" Karmazin not the FCC is responsible 100% for the mess known as satradio. Just like you plowboy are 100% responsible for your ignorant and risky investment choice.

Hey look pocketradio is trolling again, showing his ignorance, fear and desperation over the approved technology standard for the future of radio HD Radio.

As a gay American, I support this channel!!
***Due to the results of my recent court mandated Psychological tests I have to notify everyone I have contact with that I suffer from the following conditions:***
HD Psychopathy The HD psychopath is defined by a continual seeking of psychological gratification in criminal bending of the truth and outright lying, deviant sexual, or aggressive ignorant impulses and the inability to learn from past mistakes (like when I constantly spam the web with HDOA pre-outdated technology). Using Freudian terminology, the psychopathic personality occurs when the ego can't mediate between the idiot and the stupid-ego, thus allowing the idiot to run off the pleasure principle, and the stupid-ego has no control over the actions of the ego. In other words, individuals with this disorder gain satisfaction through their aggressive ignorant, deviant sexual and criminal bending of the truth and outright lying impulses. All this as well as lack a conscience in constantly recomending woefully inadiquate technologies like HDR.
“My name is Otto and I like to get BLOTO” Kernbergstein believes that HD psychopathy should fall under a spectrum of pathological narcissism, that ranged from narcissitic personality on the low end, malignant narcissism in the middle, and psychopathy at the high end. Because of the psychopaths inability to internalize stupid-ego precursors, they are unable to learn from past mistakes so they constantly say the same lame shit premoting HDR, They are completely devoid of a conscience independent thought this makes them prime canidates for championing lost causes like HDR.
Audio Induced Digital Schizophrenia (pronounced /ˌskɪtsəˈfriːniə/), better known as A.I.D.S.
From the Greek roots schizein (σχίζειν, "to split") and phrēn, phren- (φρήν, φρεν-, "mind"), is a psychiatric diagnosis that describes a mental illness characterized by impairments in the perception or expression of reality, (like when I argue with myself and others) most commonly manifesting as auditory hallucinations (like when I think HD sidebands have CD quality) paranoid or bizarre delusions (like when I think everyone is my beloved pocketradio…swoon) or disorganized speech and thinking in the context of significant social or occupational dysfunction (have you read any of my recent posts)?
Due to a bout of neuroleptic malignant syndrome I’ve been unable to medicate myself so I’ve been exposed to a new form of court ordered treatment called “The Rapee”. After my recent Therapee evaluation I was given the choice of more the rapee or a promonent disclaimer explaining why I act like a douche.
My “The rapist” was right that felt good!

Proof of ignorance, fear, and desperation when it comes to the approved technology standard for the future of radio HD Radio.
HD Radio technology - approved by the FCC in 2002 as the digital broadcasting system for the U.S. - works by transmitting digital audio and data alongside existing AM and FM analog signals, allowing listeners to enjoy CD-quality sound and virtually eliminating the static and hiss associated with today's analog broadcasts.
The technology also provides a platform for new wireless data services that, combined with display screens on HD Radio-enabled receivers, will deliver listeners a variety of additional information such as song titles, artist names, traffic updates, weather forecasts, sports scores, and more.
According to crutchfieldadvisor.com:
"HD Radio technology is not a subscription service, like satellite radio. It is the same free, over-the-air broadcast radio that we've always known. Only better. It is not something that consumers have to buy into. Everyone can choose to continue listening to their current radios, but eventually all AM/FM radios will incorporate digital technology. It is a natural evolution of the medium."
HD Radio technology offers even more in the future. According to iBiquity:
Real-time traffic reports broadcast by local stations and visually displayed on a vehicle’s navigation system
Surround Sound
Store-and-Replay – Will allow listeners to rewind a song they just heard or record an entire program to play back at a more convenient listening time
On Demand Capabilities – Will give listeners instant access to news and information
"Buy” button – Will turn the radio into an interactive device for e-commerce, allowing for instant purchases of everything from concert tickets to advertised products.
HD Radio offers standard AM and FM radio technology a path of future growth for the benefit of all radio enthusiasts.
Other interesting FACTS:
iBiquity licenses compression technology to Sirius and audio-storage technology to XM.
Blind, ignorant and stupid is not something to be proud about, educate yourself. Melvin Alan "Mel" Karmazin relies on his blind, ignorant, stupid bitches, as smart consumers are not good for Melvin Alan "Mel" Karmazin.
Wow! Kenny Chesney! First ABBA, and now Kenny! What a great time to subscribe to satellite. I'm sill waiting for my Village People channel. Oh, and an all NKOTB channel would be great right about now.
Seriously XM & Sirius. If I want to listen to all of one artist, I'll just buy the frigging CD.
Does Sirus still have the Elvis channel?
AM-HD is a horrible feature for people who want to listen to far away AM stations. AM HD creates "white noise" for adjacent frequencies. An equally disturbing problem is that converting a station to AM-HD will actually decrease the distance covered by the radio signal.
Following is from Poconos Record article:
"So why did the Poconos (and Connecticut, upstate New York and southern New Jersey) lose 770 WABC at night?
Like other AM stations, to make HD work at night, they need to send out a watered down signal.
"To send out a quality signal, you have to limit the bandwidth. We knew were going to eliminate some fringe listeners, but we weren't real sure what it would do until we did it," Phil Boyce, WABC program director said.
