Lee Abrams on XM Diversity

XM Diversity
Lee Abrams has a speech he gives people about XM's musical diversity. It's based on the chart you see above, which splits the listener up into four different zones or "circles."

Each circle is a different area of description that people share. Don't think of it as profiling though, because you can be any number of the traits above (which would put you smack in the middle of the chart). But the chart is only half the story. It's the theory behind the chart that's amazing. Bob Lefsetz got to see it first hand, and urged Lee to make a video of the speech he had witnessed.

So he did.

Now put aside your lame "XM vs. SIRIUS" hats for one second and watch this video because I don't care what camp you're from, it's worth the watch. Watch the forming of a concept behind something that we all find captivating.

We're all satellite radio fans here, and a lot of that has to do with how the music speaks to us. Understand that here is a media company that isn't based on demographics and focus groups. It's driven by passion, and instilling that passion into it's listeners. That's unheard of! So if you want to see what it's all about - sit back and watch.

Channelcheckers say that Sirius still more in demand than XM.

Great video. Anyone who says that "I would never pay for radio", should be forced to watch this.

Alright troops, stick to this model and by the end of the year 70% of new subscribers will drop XM and nobody will buy XM radio in the retail sector. Actually we've already accomplished that, next mission!!

Channelcheckers? Siting Stern and NFL as the reason?
Did you watch Lee's video? Its about the music. I love my boy Lee. And i love my XM radio.

Lee Abrams ideology of music is remarkable. You can tell why so many people like XM's deep and non-repetitive playlists, and it's all because of this guy!

After watching the video it's clear to tell that Abrams isn't afraid to say what he wants to.
"We want fans, not listeners"

Lee has had that chart in his office for a good long time! I'm trying to remember when - I think it was a past XM411 tour - we (the attendees) got a quick, watered down explanation of the chart, but it's DEFINITELY a great way of thinking as far as the music channels go! I'm glad to get the whole scoop on the chart, and from Lee himself no less!

True, this is exactly why I got satellite radio. Either service applies here and the video is about the best way to try to explain why satellite radio is so much better.

that was very inspiring !
also Bluehorshow sirius is still in 2nd place .
