MLB Home Plate now on Sirius (is there more to come?)

MLB Home PlateBest of XM subscribers may be surprised to learn that MLB Home Plate has been quietly added to the channel lineup. But it's the prospect of the MLB on Sirius that has many equally as thrilled about the addition of the baseball talk channel.
Earlier this week (as early as Wednesday possibly), Sirius subscribers who have the Best of XM package noticed that MLB Home Plate - previously exclusive to XM subscribers only - appeared on Sirius channel 210.

Notably, this update was made without any fanfare from the company. No announcements, no emails, nothing. All the more interesting.

Some are seeing this as a bellwether of more MLB programming coming over to Sirius. And I'm sure that Sirius XM Radio Inc. is working towards that goal.

Back when I had a Q&A session with executives at the company, I asked them directly about the prospects of the MLB coming over to the Sirius side. Their response? While Sirius XM and the MLB have not reached an agreement, "we continue to be hopeful that the MLB will be part of the package in the future."

And hopefully the addition of MLB Home Plate may just be the first step to that happening.

Thanks to Ken @ Fang's Bites and everyone else who sent this in!

More like "OBVIOUSLY, this update was made without any fanfare from the company. No announcements, no emails, nothing. All the more interesting."

No, I think "notably" makes more sense. I suspect MLB homeplate, a product of XM, is/was always available. Its the play-by-play from the MLB that will require a new or altered contract. I suspect they don't have agreement yet. If there is an agreement, they will make an announcement. Until then, I guess Sirius/XM saw no damage in putting their product onto the Best of XM.

Hopefully, however, this is a hint that negotiations are going well with MLB.

The man is old , washed up. how many more baba.. . Oh this isn't about stern? oops! sorry.

on the other hand a good reason to sign up for the best of xm

Not sure why they would go about advertising it at this point. With this being the off-season for baseball, why bother right before spring training? It is big news, but would be bigger news in Feb/March.

It's just a matter of time before everything is available on both platforms. I'm surprised that they didn't give the XM and Sirius channels identical positions during the recent channel smooshing.

It won't be too long till MLB Home Plate and all the other "exclusive" programming upgrades back to FM and HD radio. "exclusive" is one thing, "exclusive" programming being wasted on a hand full of subscribers is another. Churn away from siriusxm is huge as smart consumers drop Melvin Alan "Mel" Karmazin "merge" MONOPOLY scheme. Paying for radio is for newbs and suckers.

And typing with "quotes" like you seem to do is not only pathetic but you are just a looser and it makes no sense.

I would keep my trap shut, too. XM is being sold as "best of" with the NBA and NHL namd MLB, and now you're taking away more reason to buy XM as an add-on. Now how many more ways can you bungle this transition?

Idiots. Every last frickin' one of them.

And "looser", FTW.

Dibble is a douche.

Does anyone have any information on the 100 million dollar line of credit/escrow account that XM has with MLB? I don't really know the details, just saw something on siriusbuzz.com about it. Could this be all part of financing assistance?

HD?? HA! HA! HA! HA! Sucka please! Give me baseball!

If you'd like to post, please post on topic and not just to show your desperate need to prove your ignorance. You must be one of those "newbs and suckers" fooled into paying for radio, guess that makes you two time ignorant. Melvin's favorite type of customer are the ignorant. HA HA HA HA HA.

Nice one sternfan73 :)

(The comment feature has been fixed now folks. Sorry for the wacky TypeKey behavior.)

Can't wait for more additions included in the best of XM. Glad I got it!!

Annonymous,

If you don't like satellite radio, and you don't have satellite radio, and it gets your panties all up in a wad because some people have it and enjoy it.... then why don't you shut your ignorant, juvenile, annoying, PIE HOLE and keep your stupid opinion to yourself. Go listen to the 3 songs they play on AM/FM, you douche.

Oh yeah, while your at it, enjoy the 22 minutes of commercials and the incessant mindless banter they throw in every hour. Try not to get too aroused while you let terrestrial radio violate you, you idiot!

You're. Oops - Steve O

Your. Right the first time. Double Oops. Getting punchy!
