NAB President/CEO David Rehr opened up his heart and wrote in a 4-page letter to the FCC Chairman that the "two satellite radio providers has served consumers well."
Sadly the love-fest ends there (just as I was getting warmed up to Mr. Rehr), as he goes on to state - once again - that the XM-Sirius merger "violates the antitrust laws and established FCC rules." Rehr also used his favorite line saying that approving the merger would create "a government-sanctioned monopoly," etc etc etc.
Sound repetitive? You betcha, David Rehr even uses the word "monopoly" a dozen times (not including the one time he used the word "monopolistic").
But I just want to ignore all that, throw away all these hateful feelings and focus in on these kind words:
"Each [satellite radio] provider has differentiated itself with unique programming and equipment offerings."
Aw shucks Dave, that's so sweet!

The more David Rehr exhibts his fear of satellite radio, the better the chance of the merger being approved.
I absolutely agree with Rich. If NAB did not fight this merger I think there would be a better chance of this merger being blocked due to lack of competition. NAB is in effect proving THEY are the competition.

Which will now be destroyed with a merger, thanks XM and Sirius. I hate having a choice in SatRad and a single provider removes the frustration of choosing one.
The merger, less choices equals more choices. War is Peace, Ignorance Is Strenghth, Freedom Is Slavery.
How many times do these guys think they can keep changing their stories before people(FCC and Congress included) will realize they are completely full of shit? They obviously compete with satellite and realize they're fucked and will tweak the script as much as it takes to try to get an edge over satellite.
Sorry for the blunt language but I come from SATELLITE, I've forgotten about censorship!
