NAB launches Anti-XM/Sirius Merger ad campaign
The NAB has taken out an ad in the Congress Daily and other political publications that highlights the XM-Sirius Merger. Anyone want to guess which (ironic) position they take?

I think it's XM/Siriu's turn to take out an ad, challenging Terr. Radio...
Hi-light the things that Sat. Radio does that Terr CANT.

i dont think the NAB understands this merger.
one would think that they would be in favor of
a merger.merger goes through and they raise rates
people don't want to pay for radio they go back to
free radio. so why are they fighting this.

Soooooo, tell me again why the NAB cares? I was sure they said satrad was not a competitor of theirs.

one has to wonder why the NAB is so concerned about its "listeners"
I mean .. really.. put all their garbage before aside. Why do they want to convince me that its a bad idea?
This is like that one screen name of any message board posting negitivity all day and all night. Why .. just ask why? Got to ask yourself whats in it for them? Or what do they stand to lose?
Also remeber .. this is a PAY service. Its not public. So does it even matter if it is or is not in the "public's" interest?

Hey ... what if? What if the merger is not ment to go through by XM or Sirius? If the NAB is opposing it so much.. well then why? Terestrial does not pay the same fees that XM and Sirius do. Now.. think about this.. if the merger is blocked and the NAB lobbied to block it then XM and Sirius are compeating.. but is it a level playing feild? Not if Terestrial is not paying the same fees as Sat Rad.

Why in the world would the NAB care about a merger of 2 satellite stations if they are not competition for them? If they are competition then their idea of a monopoly goes out the window.

The NAB are right up there with the RIAA for agencies that should be wiped from the face of the earth.

The NAB are the biggest hypocrytes in the world......What about clear channel and buying all the radio stations...I hope people never turn terrestrial radio on and stick it to a bunch of crybabies!!!!!

besides what are they cryin about they have 90 million listeners....satellite has 15 million (They cried about cell phones in cars cuz people would turn off their radio during a call, they cried about ipods, all u do is cry....ashcroft wont save u!!.... they think BORING Terrestrial radio should be the only audio in the market!!!....IM SICK OF TERRESTRIAL RADIO IM NEVER GOIN BACK.....NEVER!!!!!!!!! U HEAR ME N-A-B- (we know your reading assholes) !!!!!!! you did it to yourself

And their ratings are showing it. No one is listening to Terr. Radio anymore. Low ratings=less advertising revenue.

Two things... First - I wont be able to hear your silly little ad campaign because my radio stations do not have commercials. Second - Before you start talking monopoly how about you start looking at the companies (like clear channel here in Tampa) who have basically taken over all the stations in most major markets. Thanks but I will stick to Sirius (Genesis/SiriusXM/whatever the want to call it) and get music without 5 minutes of commercial interruption between songs. I remember days when i lived closer to work that I would have my entire commute without hearing one song (or even the news/traffic) - have had Sirius for a little over a year - never been back to AM or FM - never!

Here is something else that is really funny. Sirius and XM aren't allowed to play local content but they do play traffic and weather. What is even better is that Sirius' (not an XM subscriber so I am not sure) traffic reports are CORRECT. My local traffic reports are so wrong the only reason to listen is to get a laugh.
So no I do not even go back to terrestrial for the traffic anymore.

Merger is bad!
XM RADIO won't answer their phone properly.
Tell the FTC no. This merger was specifically prohibited in the legislature that created sat radio.I think XM Radio's automatic billing is colse to racketering.
