NASCAR Pulling "Shift to Sirius" Promotion
NASCAR has instructed Sirius to stop the "Shift To Sirius" promotion, according to several sources familiar with the matter.
The campaign apparently was not approved by NASCAR and as a result they have asked Sirius to discontinue it. At the time of writing this the promotion is still live on American Wireless' website.

Seems kind of petty (no pun intended) coming from NASCAR. Sirius can just drop the logo and picture, change shift to switch and promote the ad to EVERYONE with an XM radio.

I seriously doubt that this SIRIUS promotion is or was a surprise to the NASCAR folks. Me thinks XM legal eagles found something in the current XM/NASCAR contract.
But if we are going to speculate....I hear SIRIUS backed off the promotion due to a lack of radios to meet the demand.

I'd say in this case, you're dead on...

I'd think (and hope) that in a case like this, XM's contract would have included the exclusive rights to do co-branded promotions (or even be able to mention NASCAR in their promotions). I'd seen ads in the past where Sirius had avoided using the NASCAR logo, so this promotion had kinda surprised me.

Me thinks it just don't matter. My ex wives are the only people on the planet that don't know that NASCAR's home is Sirius.
Yum Yum eat XM up.

"....I hear SIRIUS backed off the promotion due to a lack of radios to meet the demand. "
Oh for the love of god...
You siriots are absolutely insane. Jesus Christ God Almighty. I like how every-single-thing gets warped into a positive in your goofy lil minds.
How the hell can you rationalize this? Even *IF* sirius lacked the radios to meet the demand for their product, it would be failure on management's part to adaquately predict demand & plan accordingly.
It's people like you that inspire me. Somedays I think the market is efficent & that stocks are, for the most part, fairly valued....then I read something like this and I am reminded that complete & utter idiots are investing in stocks, pushing them to absurdly high valuations.
But hey, if it weren't for people like you, I wouldn't be able to make any money--much less the 80% return I've scored so far this year (Yes, I really had a great year). So I guess I should thank you...
Thanks,
Lord Westfall
