New Sirius, XM pro-merger ad

| 17 Comments | No TrackBacks

Below is an advertisement ran by Sirius and XM on July 9th:

XM, Sirius merger ad

Note the ending slogan: "programming as diverse as the people who support our merger." It's an appropriate ending line. The diverse range of content, and making that content available to under-served markets, is the biggest argument for addressing the "public interest" in my opinion.

Maybe that was the point of all these obscure organizations lending their support to the merger? (Mind you, they're obscure to you and I, but who knows their rep in the Capitol Hill circles. The NAB is an obscure organization to the majority of the population.) By arguing for a stronger satellite radio provider, this would theoretically enable more diverse content to be commercially feasible.

Who DOESN'T support the merger?

About 72 members of the U.S. House of Representatives who signed a letter opposing the combination of the nation's only satellite radio providers.

The merger is dead.

So what does this say about the NAB and congress if they don't approve the merger? They're racists!? They don't like veggies!? They deny god!? They hate women!?

Probably not, but let's go with that anyway...
:D

435-72=363

That's how many members of the House DIDN'T sign that little letter. This merger is far from dead.

oh WOW. 72 out of 435? Not too shabby.

The NAB only owns 72 members of congress? I thought it was more...

Perhaps the merger will succeed! At least I hope so...

We at the NAB have officially filed our petition against the merger. Most don't realize that when the FCC allowed the two satellite companies to operate in 1997, it specifically prohibited the nationwide systems from merging yet...

"XM and Sirius now urge the Commission to abandon this carefully crafted competitive satellite DARS regulatory regime. No longer satisfied with a duopoly, which Sirius Chief Executive Officer Mel Karmazin has referred to as a “second best” market structure, XM and Sirius now seek to merge, consistent with Karmazin’s vision that ‘[i]t would be great if there was a monopoly. . . .’ While Mr. Karmazin may be correct that a monopoly would be ‘great’ for the companies, this is not a valid reason for the Commission to reverse the explicit prohibition against a monopoly in satellite radio or ignore the harmful effects that the merger would have for American consumers.”

Oh-oh......

Big boy made a doody....

Did anyone notice that none of the interest groups listed are in O&A's demographic....

>>"Did anyone notice that none of the interest groups listed are in O&A's demographic...."

Which demographic?

Creepy middle-aged virgins with chronic masturbation issues or morbidly obese virgins who live in their Mom's basements?

Both are at the top of the "pest" food chain.

Zero. Point. Zero.

MH,

How about Hoo Hoo's demographic, the ones who are still stuck in 1987 with the bandanas tied behind the back of their car.

Or the ones who think everyone rips Howie off, "Tell em Fred!"

Funny, I noticed a good cross-section of people at the Mohegan Sun Arena show a few Saturdays ago. Everyone from hot women, jocks, normal looking average janes and joes and plenty of "minorities" as well. It wasn't sold out but definately at 90+% capacity, it was a comedy show after all. I'd like to see you run your mouth in the midst of the thousands of O and A fans that were there, you'd get it shut pretty fucking quick.

How's H0.0ward's Arena tour going again? Better hope the XM takeover goes through so you have access to a REAL satellite radio system. The Sirius unit I've been trying since XM got pussified because of the "merger" drops signals far more than any XM unit I've tried and sounds shittier too. Not to mention the god-damn annoying FM-style babbling DJ's. You can keep that shit, thank you very much.

Ditto on the audience at the Mohegan Sun Traveling Virus Show, SteveWeBB. It was an incredibly diverse crowd. A great time had by all - with the possible exception of Rich Vos at the end of the show.

What a smashing success the 0.0 "Travelling Void" tour has been, eh?

They were in full panic mode leading up to the Jones Beach show (their hometown crowd! lol) and practically had to GIVE tickets away with last minute two-for-one promotions etc. You can bet that much of the Mohegan crowd were casino visitors who got free tix and had little idea who 0.0pie & Andy even are.

And now, in light of more limp sales, they are scrambling to fill all the empty seats in Boston (Phase 1: "Military Gets In Free"... and there will be more gimmicks coming.)

Waaah, poor middle-aged morning zoo clones with weak ratings and a flopping comedy tour. Zero. Point. Zero.

Keep believing everything your fright-wigged idol Hoo Hoo tells you, SatRadMadManSFB. Anyone who attended the Mohegan Sun show could tell that it was an O & A crowd out there. The few people who didn't know who O & A were before the show definitely know who they are now. It's called marketing, retard.

Guess what the SFB after your Orbitcast monicker means? It's an acronym for three words that best describe most Hoo Hoo fans.

Heh. "Pests" are so stupid and easy to tweak. Especially when their middle-aged clone heroes are clearly heading down the slippery slope to cancellation.

"0.0 "Travelling Void" tour" : That's a good one. Accurately describes the Jones Beach show, too!

I suspect after the merger, Greg and Tony will either be pulled off testicle radio (if they're not cancelled entirely, first) or Mel will cut them down entirely again, should they give him any static. Let's face it, if the neutered XM management suspended those cunts, what do think Mel's gonna do? Now THAT would actually be funny.

Zero. Point. Zero. Bitches.

:)

O & A may be approaching middle-age, but at least they're not getting their AARP cards like Hoo Hoo is.

Talk about old and irrelevant. Even Imus was more in touch with today's trends than Hoo Hoo is.

To quote one of the other posters on Orbitcast:

Watch that Sirius stock drop - from less than $3.00/share to $0.00

Zero point zero zero

I wonder what you stern cunts are going to do when hoo hoo's contract ends in 2011? Sit back and remember the 'good ole days'? You know youre lost without him. Maybe still have a bandana tied in the back of your car.

$0.00
