Let me see if I get this right. The stock is down to 59 cents a share and Sirius XM is on a hiring frenzy for more high priced executives when most companies are tightening ther belts?
It's not a hiring frenzy. They are deciding which people from the SIrius side and which from the XM side survive. As I feared, the majority of these folks are from the Sirius side. The one I'm most concerned about is the choice for rock music. I find XM's rock music worlds better than that found on Sirius. If they keep the shallow playlists once they start paring down the duplicate channels, I'll have to rethink sat radio.
I am glad John McDermott is staying on and will be in charge of the comedy/ent category-I have emailed him personally within the last few years and really enjoys what he does. that would probably mean eventually that the existing Sirius comedy channels will stay and the existing XM will probably merge into them- (Just a guess)
Now that's what I call fair and balanced hiring! Basically, we're all screwed.
Wow! I am surprised they did not can Don Wicklin. Is he still going to be sweeping the floors as Sr. Director/Partner Programming?
Uhhh, no.
It means they are selecting people who already work at one of the companies to run a like job in the combined company.
What they are not saying in most cases with these announcements, Kevin Straley being an exception, is all of the lay offs that are going on.
Got that, cupcake?
i guess this means that those on xm will be treated to the left wing discussions of alex bennett, lynn samuels and mark thompson...
those of you who have heard them know what i mean.
