A page up on GM's website (found by the sleuths over at XMFan) has provided the world with a preemptive glimpse into a new comedy channel coming this fall to XM Satellite Radio - National Lampoon Radio.
Way back in May of 2005 National Lampoon announced their 24/7 radio network, and their plans to partner with a satellite radio service - and while no specific service was announced, I took a wild guess that it would be XM - simply based off of the previous relationship between the two.
Well, on the GM mini-site they have an updated channel guide (not sure how long this will stay alive) listing National Lampoon Radio (ch 154) as "coming Fall 2006." There's also a channel description guide (again, link may die soon) which is far less interesting.
So what can we expect from the channel? It's supposed to be a "comedic hot talk" format - targeting men 21-34 - with morning drive programming, a politically flavored midday show, and an evening drive "guy talk" program.

Thanks Matt!
UPDATE: National Lampoon Radio's MySpace page confirms that they're on XM too. Thanks Paul!

A comedy hot talk format to compete with O&A? We learned yesterday from Eric Logan that O&A have more listeners then Dylans show (a reported 1.7 million). Weird. I'll give it a try. Like i once gave O&A a try :). Take note Howie fans....
hey look , XM finally has a comedy channel.
a repored 1.7 million listeners>>>
and it only took them 2 years.slow clap.
"XM finally has a comedy channel"
Listen pest, XM 150 shits all over anything Sirius has to offer by way of comedy. Get a clue and come back here. PEST!
wow first response comes from tussel and he already plays the howard sucks card. who would have thought that was coming. Tussel, we don't care. I gave o&a a try also, hell sometimes I check them out on cbs radio. we don't care. live with fact that others have a different opinion than yours.
National Lampoon hasn't really made a good movie since Christmas Vacation. Van Wilder was passable, but the rest were shingles.
Not exactly a glowing endorsement.

I'm not sure everyone comprhends the history of National Lampoon Radio. Now, this new channel may not be up to standards of the Old Days of maybe 35 years ago.
But NLRH was one the absolute funniest comedy shows ever aired, and I, for one, loved to listen to it every Sunday night.
A lot of very important comedy figures got their starts there.
Might be a little interesting but I don't think it'll be a big addition to the lineup
I said it when Sirius offered a Blue Comedy channel, and i'll say it again with this National Lampoon offering:
Satellite shouldn't be making dedicated channels to one type of comedy. They should have a rotation of comedy-specific shows throughout the day.
Saves more bandwidth for the music, where it is sorely needed.

Vegas Vacation actually wasn't that bad, but Christmas Vacation was definetly one of the best.
I don't think they'll top Animal House.
Owning XM stock has been a real comedy. WFT... let's lose 80% of it's value in 8 months.
Yeah... we need another channel.
sat radio is doomed
Listen to FM good programming for free

No, it almost certainly will NOT be up to the standards the Radio Hour set in the 70's. "National Lampoon" has been more of a name than a reality for a long time now.

Yup, it was a great show. Very satirical, too, to the point where they had a lot of trouble getting advertisers. 7-UP was one that stuck with them, oddly enough.

True. About half of the original SNL cast started at the National Lampoon Radio Hour. If anyone wants to hear what it sounded like, they should check for the album Radio Dinner. The soundtrack of the show Lemmings might interest you as well.
1.7 million on XM, thats more than Howards total and it doesnt include the 26 FM stations. Yea O&A stink, your right. Hoo Hoo, I used Howie math
